Scoring
2 11:07 Clg PP Brisebois (McNamara, Larkin)
2 17:45 Cor Kary (D'Agostino, Axell)
2 18:58 Cor PP R. Nash (B. Nash, Krueger)
3 01:40 Clg PP Brisebois
3 14:49 Cor PP Gallagher (Krueger, B. Nash)
3 19:56 Cor EN Greening (Gallagher)
Not much doing in the first 10 minutes, but Colgate takes a penalty, so hopefully we can take advantage of their vulnerable PK here.
Crowd sounds nice and loud tonight. Cornell first PP chance.
Colgate kills the penalty.
Hooking on Axell, Colgate going on the PP.
Yale up 4-1 on Sacred Heart less than 5 minutes into the game!
Cornell 22
Syracuse 24
1st half, 8:24
A high percentage of the shots were not getting through for the Red this period.
Quote from: imafrshmnCornell 22
Syracuse 24
1st half, 8:24
Cornell now down by 2, and having a very hard time getting the ball inside. Syracuse hitting threes early.
Is this our first scoreless first period of the year?
Quote from: dbilmesIs this our first scoreless first period of the year?
We were scoreless in the first period of the Harvard game.
A Sony advertisement has taken over the video stream, although B. Nash is still superimposed.
Ah, perhaps because the camera appears to be in "Demo Mode"...hopefully someone notices this.
Birch unleashes a laser that Evin gloves down.
42-36 'Cuse at the half. The're hurting us inside at both ends.
Too many passes...
The powerplay doesn't look so hot tonight.
Quote from: sah67The powerplay doesn't look so hot tonight.
Very uncreative. Opponents have learned to shut off the backdoor.
Brisebois deflects the puck past Scrivens for the PPG.
1-0 'Gate
Kary's first collegiate goal on a rebound!
1-1
Very mature goal by Kary. Composure in front of the crease. Cornell now on the PP.
Riley Nash with a blast of a one-timer for the PPG!
2-1
Riley Nash. Nice shot from the outside on the PP
R Nash from B Nash!
Assists: B. Nash and Krueger
Too many penalties in the offensive zone. Dumb.
Syracuse 56-41. 20 for Wroblewski; others doing very little. 13 Cornell turnovers to 7 for 'Cuse.
Colgate PPG under video review...potentially whacked in with a high stick.
Colgate goal is under review. Could have been a high stick.
The camera angle likely won't be definitive.
The goal counts.
Goal stands...2-2.
Brisebois on the PP
So far our allegedly superior PP and PK aren't helping much. Best PK is to stay the hell out of the box, especially when in the offensive zone.
Going on the pp now.
PP goal. Galagher.
Assists: Krueger and B. Nash Very nice shot from the outside.
re: Gallagher's goal
Those pretty one-timers are . . . pretty, but methinks they're spending too much effort trying to set them up.
Colgate timeout, faceoff in the Cornell zone. 1 min remaining.
Time out Colgate.
0:59
Greening, Empty Net
Greening ENG!
4-2
Assist: Gallagher
Nice ending. Easier to come back from a 2-2 tie than 3-0 deficit. Great way to head to Madison Square Garden. LGR.
According to Colgate announcer, Scrivens has never lost to 'Gate (6-0-2).
McIntyre played well for Gates. He held their team together although they seemed to prefer to go to Brisbois.
As for us, I think we should put Scali on the ice more. He fights hard.
Quote from: dbilmesAccording to Colgate announcer, Scrivens has never lost to 'Gate (6-0-2).
Scrivens came in after Davenport was pulled in a 4-2 loss at Colgate on 1/25/07, but I forget the rule: is the starting goalie credited with the loss, or the one who allows the GWG?
That's the score according to www.gocrimson.com

I thought Colgate did an outstanding job getting into Cornell's shooting lanes tonight. Cornell needed to make many passes to set up a good shot; it wasn't easy to create a clear shot to the net. For what it's worth, Shane Hynes was pleased at how well Cornell moved the puck on the power play tonight.

Conor Morrison had 4 goals for Sucks, but it still wasn't enough.
Quote from: OatMcIntyre played well for Gates. He held their team together although they seemed to prefer to go to Brisbois.
Of course we had our checkers on the ice against McIntyre as much as possible, and yet he still looked like the best player on either team. In the end he was hurt and still coming out about every other shift. Certainly the type of player you'd like on your team. Better than any of Yale's forwards. He's quick and can mess it up inside. I didn't actually pay attention to his defense, so I can't comment; but his +/- is best on the team in conf. play.

The goalie who allows the GWG is gets the loss; in that game (http://collegehockeystats.net/0607/boxes/mclgcor1.j25), Scrivens became the goalie of record when Cornell tied it early in the third period.
Horay! I don't know if Schafer made this change purposely or not but he finally got the players to pass more! I saw a lot of passing past the blue line and we definitely outplayed Colgate. Although both teams had their share of puck time, I felt we were more in control, which gave us a lot of great opportunities to score. If we play like this on Saturday and stay in control by passing and strategically checking, BU is gonna be cake. They barely beat Harvard by one goal tonight and their season sucks so far this year.
GO BIG RED!
Hate to burst that little bubble of yours but last time around they were 3-7-2 and look what happened.

I have confidence in our team but I remember feeling exactly that way last time around. Granted we were 4-3-0 at that point and not scoring nearly as much but until we beat them I wouldn't get too confident.

Your confidence is uplifting, but based on those two statements, I don't really think you've seen much of Cornell or BU this year.

I've been to all the home games this season, including the exhibitions, so maybe you are just a bit pessimistic about our outlook this year.
I'll admit I haven't watched BU, but based on their numbers and the game with Harvard, I can infer that we have a much better chance beating BU than some of the opponents we faced earlier this season. However, I might be very very very very wrong. I'm listening to the coaches interview right now: Tune in! (http://hockeyoncampus.com/)

Huh. Didn't know this existed. Last week they had Justin Milo and Adam Wodon on.

Dang...and I had almost forgotten that Justin Milo and Tony Romano could have still been on this team.
2nd period just started. Quinnipiac just scored 4 goals on Kalemba in six minutes. They truly have the best offense in the nation.
Well, some freshman just scored. They are now 4/5 on the PP tonight. They probably have the best PP in the nation now :( How are we going to beat this team?
Quote from: ithacatI had almost forgotten that Justin Milo and Tony Romano could have still been on this team.
I gather the choice was Milo, Romano, or Schafer.

We can begin by staying out of the box...

I didn't say should...:-)

I'll drink to that.
