Title: Entry Music
Post by: TimV on September 18, 2009, 09:26:55 PM
Jacob '06's comment in the UND thread about the music in Englestad when The Sioux skate out made me think about some other great entry music.

When Ned Harkness started the Union program in 1975 his team was composed entirely of freshmen, some admitedly long in the tooth.  I don't know if it was Ned's choice, or sombody else's but they came onto the ice to "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship.  Not your average Jock Anthem, but in that context it gave me chills then, and to a certain extent, still does.

"If only you believe like I believe,
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles,
So would I..."

"We could exist on the stars
It'd be so easy
All we gotta do
Is get a little faith in you..."

Anybody else care enough about this schlock to list their favorites?

I grew up in San Diego in the 90s...It's hard to not associate Hell's Bells with Trevor Hoffman.

I prefer the Rocky theme cum Gary Glitter.

I always felt "Welcome to the Jungle" was a good song to pump up the crowd and send a team out on the ice to (grammar nazis, back off).

That said, I wouldn't change what we do at Lynah, except maybe dropping the Rocky theme.  We're not underdogs any more.

The Peter Gunn theme, absolutely. It has a good beat, you can skate to it, and it's wonderfully sinister.

That might be good for penalties and power plays.

It's what they played at the first game I ever attended at Lynah. The guys skated around the rink, took shots at the wall and eventually on goal, and you just had this feeling that they were getting ready to rumble. It was very subtle, and oh, so effective.

Psychologically, it must have worked, given that two of those teams won NC's.::cheer::
