Well there are reports of TV games, so here it goes. As you get them post them and I'll put them up.

Nov. 13 @'gate  TW CNY
Dec. 5  @Union  TW Cap

TW Cap is Time-Warner Capital District (Albany)
TW CNY is Time Warner Central NY (Syracuse)
Since the NHL Network picked up one of the TW games last year, it's perhaps worth noting that the NHL has a fairly light schedule (6 games) on 11/13 and a packed schedule (14 games) on 12/5.

Last year, the NHL-N carried NHL games mainly on Wednesday nights and on Saturday they carried the Hockey Night in Canada feed. IIRC, NHL-N would cover a college hockey game on Friday nights. I hope they do so again this year.

Considering that they were both in the NC$$ last year, maybe NHL-N will pick up the 11/13 game.

BTW, both Jim's schedule (http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,132523)  and the one posted on the Cornell Men's hockey site (http://cornellbigred.com/schedule.aspx?path=mhockey&) have us playing at Yale on 11/13 rather than at Colgate. ::help::

However they still have a 2008-9 TV schedule up. That's last year's 'gate game on 11/13. I assume they will have the 2/16 game covered this season, as they regularly do 'gate f'ball and hockey ('gate pays them to do it.).

It's embarrassing when you post two schedules and they don't agree.::doh:: I'll change the TV schedule till it's official.

So is the assumption that any games that are televised for those of us who don't get Time Warner NY may go to the NHL Network. With the whole DirecTV/Versus crap going on right now, I'm considering getting rid of the Sports Pack and going hockeyless through the end of the year.

anyone know if SNY might pick up some of those TWC games?  I think they did a few years back and I think time warner has a stake in SNY?  If my memory is correct, I think even the SNY wikipedia page mentioned they used to cover some ECAC hockey,though it no longer does...

dish network is offering a free preview of versus through 11/30.  i believe comcast may be doing something similar.  the two of them and time warner now also carry the redzone channel, the best channel in directv's sunday ticket nfl package.  the channel jumps from game to game based on where scoring is most likely to happen.  you can get it for $5.99 per month via the multisports package on dish vs $300 per season via directv's sunday ticket.  sorry for sounding like a commercial

No.  There will be a video webcast for a price to be determined.

The organizers tried to get the game on tv, but the production costs were too expensive.

For Free?

In the article, I didn't see any mention of the game being pay-for-view. I did notice that our old enemy "All-Access" is in charge of the BU internet coverage, so 1) maybe not free and 2) be prepared for dropped and frozen feeds.

My favorite part:
QuoteMen's head hockey coach Jack Parker (SMG'68, Hon.'97), who led his team to the 2009 NCAA championship last April, says he knows "that our team is excited to face a Cornell team that is one of the best in the country this season."

"And," says Andy Noel, from Cornell University's physical education program, "I'm thrilled to continue the great rivalry with Boston University."

I know it's an attempt by the writer to include something from the other side, but awkwardly including the "And" at the start of J. Andrew's quote sounds like he's hanging out with Jack Parker and completing his sentences.  Also, I like how the quote seems to have our "physical education program" director (PED?) taking personal credit for this.  "*I'm* thrilled to continue..."  I have a mental picture of Andy out there in shaky skates, alone vs. BU.  *shudder*

Note that, given my history of slamming the guy, this isn't a knock on Andy, but the bad writing in this release.  It's obvious a quote they got from him was shoehorned in very poorly.

QuoteThere will be a cash bar, with the BU Pep Band setting the mood.

Either that should have read, "The BU Pep Band will be there, with the cash bar setting the mood," or the BU Band repertoire is deep in light jazz.

Say it isn't so!  Time Warner CNY, in their infinite wisdom, is apparently going to air the Maine/Syracuse Basketball Game instead of the CU/Union Hockey Game Saturday night in the Ithaca area.  To make matters worse, they are supposedly going to air this basketball game on both channel 24 and channel 26.

College Basketball - Maine at Syracuse

    * Tomorrow 7:00pm – 9:00pm
    * 26 TWSYSPO, 24 SNY
    * Live

Someone please stop them...

In all seriousness...does anyone know who we should contact?  Is there any point?

Hmm, Time Warner in Rochester also has the SU basketball game on tonight, and lists the Cornell-Union game as tape delayed tomorrow afternoon.  Channel 1026 doesn't exist on my guide at the moment, but the 10XX channels are generally HD versions of the lower channels.  I tried to tell the DVR to manually record 1026 at that time just in case, but it won't let me schedule a recording for a channel that doesn't exist.

Apparently tonight's game (UND at Cornell) is being broadcast via Time Warner Cable on channel 26 in Ithaca, and presumably elsewhere. I just set the TiVo to record it so we can watch replays after returning home from watching the game live tonight.

Hope this helps someone in the Time Warner viewing area who can't attend in person.

In Ithaca, with Time Warner Cable, the CBS College Sports is part of the "Sports Tier" package. I called and added it earlier today. The channel was turned on immediately. The package costs $3.95 per month, and, as per the rep I spoke to, I can cancel the package tomorrow if I want to and pay only the pro-rated amount.

With the Time Warner "Sports Channel Tier" you also get 3 regional Fox Sports Networks and the NHL Network, giving you a lot more college hockey.

The game tonight is on 1978 on TWC in Albany.  8 PM. Maybe it's 1878, I think it is.  Don't know what the non-high-def channel is.

FIOS would require me to upgrade to the HD package for two years to get the channel for tonight. I explained that I had no HD television so it would be a waste of money.

Could a Tivo user take the file from the HD copy of a game and convert it to an AVCHD copy of the game?  Too many CODECs for me.::cry::

Same here. But they felt bad so they gave me 3 months of HBO+Cinemax free. Not a completely wasted effort, I guess.

Ditto. Just remember to cancel in three months.

I also tried to encourage them to carry the Canadian broadcast channels. With the Olympics coming up I am going to really miss the CBC coverage. Guess I'll have to try to find the rabbit ears.

I could be wrong, but I think it's not uncommon for Time Warner to wait until pretty late before announcing coverage. I'm pretty sure I recall coverage being announced in the past --after-- Cornell secured their spot in the semis. So I wouldn't yet sweat the fact that no coverage has been announced. I'd say if we beat Harvard, and nothing has been announced by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, that would be a good time to start worrying.

I just got an email from Steve Hagwell. The ECAC Semis are on NHL network live. The Finals are on Fox College Sports live and NHL delay. I've checked the FCS listings and it looks like the Finals will be on FCS Pacific. Atlantic has the CCHA and Central has WCHA.

Please check your local cable listings and let me know if you find any problems. I've updated the original post.

I flipped through my TV last night and the info bar confirmed the live feeds on 3/19 (NHL Network) and 3/20 (FCSP).  [OT]WCBS is still "Teams TBA" for hoops (see my post on the "Other Sports" board).[/OT]

For those with Cablevision who can't drive to Albany this weekend (shame on us), you can purchase the Sports Pack which includes both channels for $5/month, or do what I did last year: Buy the Pack on Friday, cancel it on Sunday, and pay a pro-rated 33 cents.  Best PPV deal ever.

My understanding is that Fox College Sports Atlantic, Central, & Pacific (these are channels that cable companies carry) are channels that pick up feeds of college games from various Fox Sports channels across the country. So if you have Dish or DirecTV with the sports packages, the game *should* be on one of the 20+ Fox Sports channels you get.

Wiki says:
QuoteFCS Produced Content: The 3 FCS Channels offer the FSN feeds from the following channels, including live games (FSN has rights to show live Big 12 Conference football, Pacific 10 Conference football and basketball and Atlantic Coast Conference basketball games on Fox College Sports). They also rerun shows originally produced by and shown on the networks listed:
    * FCS Atlantic: Shows Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East Conference, Southeastern Conference content from Fox Sports Pittsburgh, Fox Sports South, SportSouth, Fox Sports Florida, Sun Sports, and MSG Plus.
    * FCS Central: Shows Big 12 Conference, and Mid-American Conference content from Fox Sports Detroit, Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Houston, Fox Sports North, Fox Sports Wisconsin, Fox Sports Midwest, Fox Sports Kansas City, Fox Sports Indiana, and Fox Sports Ohio
    * FCS Pacific: Shows Big 12 Conference and Pacific 10 Conference content from Fox Sports Arizona, Fox Sports Rocky Mountain, Fox Sports Utah, Fox Sports Northwest, Fox Sports West, and Prime Ticket.

Thanks for the thought--the Dish didn't carry it anywhere that I found. I went up to almost 500 and didn't see it listed. I have the Fox Sports Package with it, but perhaps it wasn't carried on the "Philadelphia loop" that I seem to get (as well as not get) a lot of programming here--so, did the dreadful B2N webcast--complete with B2N cutting to their logo for the whole break (which they overshoot by a lot).  Didn't get to see any of the contested Union goal--got to watch their lovely logo and listen to the banter.)--I hope I don't have to use them for any more games.

Quote from: munchkinSo in hockey line senior year Hockeychick and I had a tv with which we watched Mystery, Alaska, Slapshot, and the Mighty Ducks movies.  And I'm not one to turn off Mighty Ducks if I see it on.  But we all know that's the real reason you have Disney, it's not for the kids.

Maybe if you weren't so busy watching all those hockey movies you'd know a Hudsucker Proxy line when you saw it.  Too bad there isn't a hula hoop emoticon.

Now if you excuse me, I have to go watch Dora the Explorer.

So I wikied the Hudsucker Proxy, it was written before I was born (85) and was released just before I turned 7 (94).  Excuse my naivete for not recognizing a line from the movie.

Don't be so sure... I wonder if this is legit:

If I ever sees ya, I'm gonna kiss ya. (Now I have to make sure I have that tier - or whether I need to do a one-day upgrade...)

AFAIK, no tier...
There must be some tier that I'm not paying for because I don't have ESPNU. I will on Friday, though.

Apparently, it's a slow phase-in.  Everyone with Cablevision should have it by tomorrow.  The website isn't any help, though: http://optimum.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/optimum.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2268&p_created=1194010499&p_sid=n2_fEIXj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MiwyJnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1lc3BudQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

Quote from: ugarteWhat is the TV situation for Friday night? *sigh*

ESPNU-HD! (::banana:: ::banana::::banana:: for billhoward ;-))

See this USCHO article. (http://www.uscho.com/news/college-hockey/id,18499/MiamiDenverWisconsinBostonCollegeGetTopSeedsinNCAATournament.html)  TV and intertube information at the end.

Am I misreading, or would there not be significant overlap between the Cornell & Wisconsin games (both of which are spoken for by ESPNU)?

FWIW, ESPNU's schedule (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4376693) is now showing our game as being played at 3:30pm Eastern.

Yeah that schedule was "updated Aug 11 2009". I'd go by your tickets.:-}

So how will they be handling the television broadcast then? Both Cornell & Wisconsin are scheduled for ESPNU Friday night, with the CU game starting at 6:30pm Eastern, and the Wiscy game 8:00pm Central. Do you think they'll decide the overlap portion on a region by region basis, go with the closer game, or none of the above?

EDIT: Ignore what I just wrote. My inability to convert correctly between time zones (a thorn in my side for most of my life) strikes again! I was converting 8pm Central to be 7pm Eastern, instead of the correct 9pm. With that in mind, the overlap between the two games will not be significant (if present at all).

Lauren, Try espn360.com. Some of the regional games are on there, I'm not sure if you have the option of getting the espnu feed through that as well. Worth a try.

What about that justin.tv thing (never tried it, just seen it mentioned a bunch of times).

I am assuming that in no case will there be a difference between what is shown on ESPNU and ESPNUHD (other than the sharpness). That is not clear from the USCHO info but appears to e the case from the ESPN info.

It looks like espn360 only has NMU vs. SCSU listed for Friday, unfortunately, and I think I'd have to wait for some kind soul to donate their time and resources to rip the broadcast for justin.tv for that to work.  (Where's the batting eyelashes smiley?)  I'll definitely be investigating sub-legal streams closer to event time.

I suppose I could always hitchhike to Bellingham and find a sports bar.

Others of us can't make it, either.  At least you have a good excuse: raising the next generation of fans. :-)

Who is interested in a Friday night viewing in Boston?  I can give Sports Depot a call and see if they can reserve one or two TV's for us, depending on how many can't make it to Albany this weekend.

Is this going on?

There was not much interest.  I'm just going to show up at 6 and ask for a single TV, probably near the bar.  I'll be wearing my dream-crushing, soul-devouring T-shirt.

Ok, cool.  I wonder how many people will be left in town given how close the regional is.

Just an idea, but some of you Boston viewing people may want to start a Boston viewing thread. The info is kinda buried here.

FWIW, Sat 3/27 starting at 4:30 pm EDT Fox College Sports Pacific is replaying the ECAC championship game between Cornell and Union.
