Could this be moved to the June alumni thread?
Sorry about that - did a quick scan and didn't see anyone post it. Also, this article was dated June 25th; hence the posting.
This was the original post. (http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,146809,146833#msg-146833) The topic wasn't obvious, either from the post subject or the contents.
This post intentionally left blank.
Raymond Sawada is still playing this season. The Manitoba Moose are tied with the Hershey Bears at a game a piece in the Calder Cup Finals. Raymond has three goals, four assists, and four penalty minutes in eighteen playoff games.
Thanks. I'm going to the game at Hershey Sunday.
Matt McKeown, who left Cornell after his freshman year and played three more at Fredonia,
has signed with the Laredo Bucks of the CHL.

I don't know if this is the right place to put it, but the Yankees took Justin Milo in the 37th round of the MLB draft.
Tretiak, took the words right out of my mouth.

You owe me a coke. Were you the one that commented on the River Avenue Blues live draftblog? Hooray for slow work days...

Pretty cool story as Milo will sign with the Yankees (since his UVM baseball career has been prematurely ended, whether he likes it or not) but will play out his senior hockey season and presumably join the Yankees system after. I'll update this as more information is released about the arrangement.
Good for him and the Yankees for figuring out this arrangement. Now if only they can figure something out with their other two sport star, 48th round pick Pat White...
Yeah, that was me on River Ave Blues.

Works out well for him that this happened at UVM since he'd be unable to play hockey at Cornell under the same circumstances given Ivy rules about such things.
It appears from the depths of Google that Dan Ratushny has left his law career and is coaching in the National League B (Switzerland). I had to use Babblefish to translate the Web page.
Note the obscure picture and the comical translation.
Ratushny Update (http://66.196.80.202/babelfish/translate_url_content?.intl=us&lp=de_en&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nachrichten.ch%2Fdetail%2F385593.htm)
Best of luck to Dan.....he could probably still play in the first defensive pairing.
I'm actually quite busy at work but I have my priorities.

Looks like the ECAC site picked it up last month, and their site's a little easier to read :)

Molson to buy Habs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4274642Molso).
So does anyone else think that maybe Matt Mo(u)lson should be the poster child for this new business endeavor? ::drunk::

No, thank you. I really enjoyed watching him during my four years, and I don't want those memories tainted by le bleu, blanc et rouge. ::barf::
new from the IJ (http://www.theithacajournal.com/article/20090625/NEWS01/906250365&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL) on McKee.
Yes, the Elmira Star Gazette printed the story, as well.
It's particularly ironic that the SG largely ignores Cornell Hockey (for decades) but prints this article.
Print the dirt; ignore the good moments. I guess that's how the media operates.::flipa::

Perhaps future McKee trial news should be in a different thread? I don't think this was done in his professional capacity. Also, a new thread will concentrate the news in one place instead of spreading it out over the coming months/years of Alumni in the Pros threads.

It would also enable those of us who want to forget this episode and remember McKee from his pre-sex offender days to avoid the sordid details. :-P

Alleged sex offender. I agree that the story sounds pretty damning but he did plead not-guilty.::innocent::

I think perhaps :P does the work of "alleged."
Got this from RiverAveBlues.com...
Justin Milo: 1 for 4, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB - homered in his first professional plate appearance
He's on the Rookie Gulf Coast Yankees.
The Devils traded Tony Romano to the Islanders for Ben Walter (UMAss-Lowell) and a conditional 2012 draft pick (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=432300).
After a great year in the OHL with multiple awards, the NY Islanders are signing Romano to a 3 year entry level NHL contract. Romano was born and raised on LI, so this has got to be a dream come true. They traded for Ben Walter this afternoon. Good Luck Tony, you were always fun to watch at Lynah. I guess your early departure from our beloved Big Red, is paying off for you. Congrats......
He may be an ass, but he's our ass. Stand up and shout it: go Nystrom and Howatt. And Romano.
Having a great 20-year-old season in the OHL doesn't mean that he made the right decision to leave college. If I recall correctly, major-junior teams are limited to two overage players. So, a 20-year-old offensive player should get more than a point per game in the OHL.
As an Islanders fan from Smithtown, NY, I'd love to see him have a successful professional career. I'm skeptical, though.
For those who have seen him play in the OHL for London or Peterborough, I'd like to know if he has become a better team player on the ice. Is he still trying 1-on-5 rushes? Has he learned to use his linemates effectively? Has he become an asset in the defensive zone?
I'd hope that the Islanders would not have traded for him and would not sign him if he was not a viable prospect. His skill level is tremendous, and I hope he puts it to good use.

Could this thread be folded into the Alumni in the Pros thread, where this trade was first reported on the forum?

To stay an Islander fan is the triumph of hope over experience.
