I'm sure most of you know this already, but I didn't see it here so I thought I'd pass it along. Both the baseball and softball teams won their division in the regular season and play for Ivy titles against Dartmouth this weekend. The baseball team, which beat Princeton 9-0 (all runs in the 1st) in a one-game playoff, to qualify for the championship series will play in Hanover. The softball team, which has had a phenomenal season (40-10, 17-3) will play in Ithaca. Each series is best of 3, with 2 games tomorrow (Saturday 5/2) and the deciding game on Sunday, if necessary. Let's Go Red!!
Cool. Thanks, ansky.
The baseball team at 16-21 and 10-10 Ivy basically got lucky to even finish in a tie in their four team division but looked very impressive on the pitching end too striking out 18 batters in their 9-0 win to equal a mark not seen since 1957. Softball should roll today. This would be a major upset if baseball could pull it off.
During the regular season*, Baseball went 0-2 against Dartmouth in a couple of pitchers duels in Hanover (13-8 and 14-11). I wouldn't count them out in a short series.
Softball split with the Big Green, dropping the first game 7-5 in 10 innings and winning the second in 6 innings via the mercy rule, 10-2.
*Edited so that these didn't look like results of today's games.

Anyone know what mercy rule they play?

If a team is ahead by eight or more runs after five innings. Cornell took a 10-2 lead in the top of the sixth and Dartmouth didn't score in the bottom of the inning.
Baseball:
Cornell was up 6-0 in the middle of the sixth (that's today) but have just surrendered seven in the bottom of the sixth and now trail 7-6 in the top of the seventh.
Softball:
Cornell has just defeated Dartmouth 4-0 to take a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 in about 30 minutes.
Ivy League Baseball Championship Series Game 1 Final:
Dartmouth 8 runs, 10 hits, 0 errors, Cornell 6 runs, 10 hits, 4 errors
Dartmouth leads 1-0. Game 2 in 30 minutes.
Game Two:
Baseball:
Again starting strong like Game 1, Cornell leading 7-1 after two. Let's hope they can hold on to this one. Cornell is the home team for game 2.
Softball:
Dartmouth punching the runs across in Game 2. Cornell gets out of a jam in the fifth to keep the deficit at 4-1 through five innings. Cornell is the road team for game 2.
Softball Update:
Game Two Final: Dartmouth 5, Cornell 1
12 Noon tomorrow - seven innings for the trip to the NCAA's
Baseball Update:
Top 3, 7-3 Cornell
Baseball Update: Cornell has officially blown their 7-1 lead and now trail Dartmouth 8-7 in the middle of the 5th
Cornell hits two homers to take the lead 10-8 in the bottom of the fifth but defensive blunders give Dartmouth the lead 12-10, mid 6.
Cornell baseball forces a deciding Game 3 tomorrow along with the softball team.
Baseball Game 2 final:
Cornell 14 runs, 18 hits, 2 errors, Dartmouth 12 runs, 17 hits 1 error
Tomorrow: (Game 3)
Baseball: Cornell at Dartmouth - winner to the NCAA Tournament
Softball: Dartmouth at Cornell - winner to the NCAA Tournament
I hope the Big Red has someone left to pitch Game 3 and the Big Green does not.

Sounds like the baseball team is trying to be like the Yankees. Hey guys, no bull does not mean no bullpen!
Good luck tomorrow!

Softball Game 3:
Moving quickly along. Dartmouth with a solo shot in the top of the 4th and they lead 1-0
Baseball Game 3:
Cornell had a runner on second with one out but fail to score in the top of the 1st
Softball Game 3:
Cornell puts a single and RBI double together in the bottom of the 4th and with two on and two out in the bottom of the 5th, Menaker hits a three-run home run for the Red. Cornell up 4-1 headed to the top of the sixth.
Baseball Game 3:
Dartmouth with a string of hits including a two-run double off the wall to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, the last run a play at the plate that temporarily knocked out Cornell's catcher. Cornell does not score in the top of the second.
Cornell hits two solo homers in the bottom of the sixth to solidify a 6-1 victory over Dartmouth and the Ivy title 2 games to 1 and an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament which begins Friday, May 15th.
Cornell surrenders a three-run blast to Dartmouth in the bottom of the fourth and now trails 6-0 in the middle of the fifth. They were good at blowing six run leads yesterday, let's see if they can come back from a six-run deficit today.
Getting worse - 8-0 bottom of the 6th

I guess Dartmouth had a pitcher left.
Don't turn off ESPNU after the Syracuse-Siena game...10 p.m....selection show.
Amherst Regional – May 15-17, Amherst, MA
No. 3 Washington (41-10) vs. Sacred Heart (25-26)
Cornell (42-11) at Massachusetts (38-8)
Double elimination
Cornell vs. U-Mass just about to get under way.

End of three, Umass up 2-0. Lights now fully shining on the first night game ever at UMass. Earlier Washington beat Sacred Heart. If Cornell wins, they face Washington at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. If they lose, they play Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
4-0 after 5 innings after UMass gets a 2-run HR in the 5th.
An ugly ending to the game as Cornell surrenders four runs in the sixth inning to have the mercy rule kick in with an 8-0 (6) loss. Cornell will face Sacred Heart tomorrow at 5 p.m. and if they win, will play UWash or UMass at 7:30 p.m.
Cornell lost to Scared Heart, 3-1, so I believe the softball season is over.
The softball season is over but I believe the phrase 'Cornell lost to Sacred Heart' was banned from elynah.
