I'll try game updates here. Please notify me if I break with convention in some way.
1st: NU goal 19:21 (Liotti) PP 1-0 Northeastern
2nd: NU goal 09:21 (Silva) 2-0 Northeastern
2nd: CU goal 17:58 (Gallagher) 2-1 Northeastern
3rd: CU goal 16:04 (Greening) PP 2-2 Tie
3rd: CU goal 19:47 (Barlow) 3-2 Cornell
Cornell gets outplayed for a good portion of the game but scores the final three goals, including the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining, to beat Northeastern and move on to play tomorrow night in the Midwest Regional Final. We are fortunate to have beaten this team. Evenly matched on paper, yes, but Thiessen is a tough goalie and this was NU's game to lose with the way they played for most of the game.
Cornell to the power play at 14:40 on an interference call.
Great PK by NE but poor PP by Cornell, no score. Followed by some ridiculous giveaways in our zone = scary chances for NE.
Who is playing for both Devins? I am glad to see blake out there
Go for it. - PP coming for NE
This Vatale guy seems great - what a pain in the ass.
NE penalty now with 45 seconds left in ours.
EDIT: Crap high stick on Kennedy = 4 on 3 for NE for a bit.
Like the Yale game, a strong first 12-13 minutes but with nothing to show for it. Then give up a goal and have to play from behind.
Looks like Gallagher is having trouble moving side to side. Missed a couple of passes during the CU PP. Northeastern being very aggressive on PK pressuring CU. Will need to adjust.
We were on our heels the last half of the period. The goal was a fluke, but not undeserved. Wish we could have gotten out of the period unscathed.
LGR.
CU Penalty - Whitney - Interference
Killed LGR
Shit 2-0
Aw crap - Silva on a breakaway
I feel like I'm watching a replay of the Yale game. Turnover...breakaway...goal
Another Penalty - Riley Nash
We need to get a goal!!
Ross Penalty - Calls seem to be getting one sided!
Darren Eliot being interviewed - talking about his time at CU along with Brian Hayward.
Darren Eliot being interviewed - talking about his time at CU along with Brian Hayward.
Nice, albeit brief. :-)
A step or two slow all day.having to kill all these penalties doesn't help
SCORE!!!
YAY!!!!! FINALLY!!!
about F(*$()*!@)( ing time!
Gallagher - unbelievable guts!!
GALLAGHER YESSSS
Cornell PP coming up.
justin.tv feed died as the second was ending - dadgummit. Hopefully it'll return but we've got 890espn.com for audio at least in case it never returns.
End of 2, 2-1 Northeastern.
Cornell had a great jump after that goal; hopefully they'll carry it over.
Pretty poor production by ESPN. The announcers seem to be very pro-NE. And, what's with the clock at the top of the screen not coinciding with the game clock? Sometimes, not even close. I noticed the same thing during the UNH-UND game on ESPN2.
I think one of the announcers went to NE.
Any time left in PP when the 3rd starts? Only access now is iPhone, 890espn.com or justin.tv won't work since no flash
Cornell was outplayed for much of the 2nd period. The big guys are having a lot of trouble generating much offense. Riley Nash has been basically invisible. Gallagher's goal was absolutely enormous!! Definite momentum changer. About 1:50 left in PP time at the beginning of the 3rd.
LGR!!
Northeastern's won 29 of 43 faceoffs.
one cup size bigger, eh ?
one cup size bigger, eh ?
Does this mean the video is back, or does the toad have ads?
Brendon 2 min for tripping
4x4 B Nash takes a tripping penalty
Cornell was outplayed for much of the 2nd period. The big guys are having a lot of trouble generating much offense. Riley Nash has been basically invisible.
In Riley's defense, he's got a NU player inside his jersey for most of the time.
Does anyone know the names of the jokers that are calling the game?
I am on the espn page to complain about their bias and it asks for
the names. Thanks.
Doug
Northeastern's won 29 of 43 faceoffs.
That is a huge stat.

R. Nash has won 2 of 15.
Great move by Whitney driving the net. He needs to score!

It's the "Blake is hurt" stat. :-/
PP coming up.
Lioti out on a crosscheck; Cornell pp.
Now it's time for a goal!
Any time left in PP when the 3rd starts? Only access now is iPhone, 890espn.com or justin.tv won't work since no flash
http://wrbbsports.com/
This will launch in media player, etc. (but is more pro-NE than ESPNU)
LGR!
QuoteDoes anyone know the names of the jokers that are calling the game?
I think
Play by Play: Ben Holden
Color: Sean Ritchlin
I got the info from puckthemedica.wordpress.com, not from listening because they were so bad I turned them off and am listening to the radio.

Doug
Ben Holden & Sean Ritchlin
You mean those nitwits at ESPN can't find that out?
The complete list is here (http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2009/03/23/with-the-seedings-and-matchups-announced-your-updated-ncaa-hockey-tournament-schedule/)
Nothing on the PP. Good chance just after.
go to wrbbsports.com, they are a bit better though NU homers too
Down on PP
Penalty CU - Collins
That was a stupid move by Collings....
Back to full strength
Good PK - then Barlow just missed on a great rush!
Great kill. Plenty of time left.
Cornell has made some very good shots against an excellent goalie
Does anyone know who Northeastern's coach is?
QuotePlenty of time left.
I'd rather they got it done when there's more time on the clock than .8 or .3 seconds! My cats can't take the yelling.
Cornell to the power play, 5:11 remaining
SCORE!!!!!!!
CU ties it up
woohooo
GREENING!
ON THE POWERPLAY! COLIN GREENING
GO BIG RED
oh man, wrbb's feed is a little slow... Thanks for the heads up, guys.
Sweet.
YES!!! Tie game!
Finally, a PPG. Now, please end it in regulation, not in five tiring periods.
how do they not cut away from the BU 3-0 lead now for this game......
YAY!!!
how do they not cut away from the BU 3-0 lead now for this game......
We have to go to 7 OTs like the UVA/MD lax game...
Less than 1 minute to go in 3rd period
Who scored the Cornell Goal?
Who scored the Cornell Goal?
Greening or Barlow, depending on the feed. :-)
It was announced over the PA system as Greening's
Who scored the Cornell Goal?
Greening
Ok thanks!
CU scores with 17 seconds to go
BARLOW 17 seconds left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BARLOW!!!!!!!!!!!
woohoo!
And we score with 17 seconds left. Wowza.
UNBELIEVEABLE
BARLOW!!!
YAY BARLOW!!!
You must be kidding. Longest 17 seconds coming up.
Barlow at 19:43. We may have a first star of the game. Thank god somebody from the ECAC is leading in the final 30 seconds. Wait, Princeton was, too.
Barlow has had an otherworldly 3 weeks.
NE goalie has been pulled
OMG? This could be awesome ! ! ! !
Riley Nash was being taken out by two NE guys. He passed while falling down to Barlow who took a great shot!!!
Empty net for the Huskies in the final seconds here . . .
11.6 seconds to go
Time out NE
Let's Go RED ! ! !
Time out NE
Timeout for NE
With the finishes that have already transpired in the last two days, these guys are already calling Barlow's goal a game winner. I am impressed I've lasted this long without muting it.
Can't bear to watch!
CU wins
The WRBB announcers are incredulous . . . their crying is kind of funny. I know the game's not over, but regardless they are funny in their whining.
LGR!!!!!!!!
CORNELL WINS!!!! CORNELL WINS!!!!!
YAY!!!!
Wow! And phew!
Wow, what a win!
The WRBB announcers are incredulous . . . their crying is kind of funny. I know the game's not over, but regardless they are funny in their whining.
I think they are better than a lot of other announcers I have had to listen to.
Gametracker gives the second goal to Greening. Amazing third period. Shots 14-4 Cornell.
schafer 1 - thiessen 0.
(not that coach was holding a grudge!)
LGR!
Until the end, I thought that the announcers gave a rather balanced reporting
An amazing effort by the Big Red. Evan Barlow is in a zone. Despite the limits on some of the team members like Gallagher, they find a way to win. It should be interesting tomorrow.
Incredible comeback. The big guys did finally play like the big guys. None bigger than Evan Barlow. He has been playing "out of his mind" for the past three weeks. So did Riley and Greening. Scrivens play really solid after the 2nd NE goal. And then there's Gallagher. He shouldn't be playing at all. But there he is. Schafer has been saying all year that this year's team has incredible heart. They really showed it today.

True that, and WRRB announcers >> ESPN 890 announcers. I had the justin.tv feed for most of the game, but that died after the second period. I was glad to have the audio at least.
woooooooooooooooooo
is the bemidgi game on to watch?
is the bemidgi game on to watch?
It's on ESPN2, but it's not much of a game so far.
Gametracker gives the second goal to Greening. Amazing third period. Shots 14-4 Cornell.
NE went into a Cornell like stance in the third, protecting their lead. But what I am beginning to feel here is a "Cardiac Kids"-like similarity to the '96 squad.
i have BU ohio state on ESPN2 right now............?????
Oh wait-
Bemidgi game is 730. UVM is on ESPNU. BEmidgi is ESPN Classic
Congratulations to the players and a special thank you for winning this thing in regulation. I can't handle another overtime.
Needless to say, someone please (please!) post the last two goals on the internet! I was one of those justin.tv casualties who missed the entire 3rd period and had to listen to those awful NU announcers... Thank God it was worth it.

Turn on ESPN2 between periods they are showing highlits

If you saw the game winner against Princeton in the ECAC semis you pretty much saw the game winner in this game.

I thought the same thing when I finally saw it on ESPN2.

Not to mention that even winning in OT would be so draining. Another advantage vs. last week is that we got the early game today. Let's hope the ND-Bemidji game is a bruiser (and goes to 3 OTs :-D)
Anyone wanna drive out to Grand Rapids from the NYC area tonight?

no, i'm currently in the far east and have to rely on the internet and the kindness of strangers... i did see the barlow goal against princeton (thank you whoever put it on youtube) but not that the greening goal.
WOW I cant believe that we pulled that off!
I concur but it was exciting
To this I concur: Cornell gets outplayed for a good portion of the game but scores the final three goals, including the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining, to beat Northeastern and move on to play tomorrow night in the Midwest Regional Final. We are fortunate to have beaten this team. Evenly matched on paper, yes, but Thiessen is a tough goalie and this was NU's game to lose with the way they played for most of the game.
Great atmosphere at the Sports Depot in Boston where Northeastern Fans were in one (quiet, very quiet) corner and Cornell fans in another. We had more people but after all Northeastern was showing the game at their rink as well. WEe'll be back at 8 PM Sunday!
Check out the postgame thread -- there's a link to video of Barlow's GWG.

Not so sure I'd say Cornell was outplayed for "most of the game." The first 12-13 minutes were ours, as was the entire third period (shots 14-4). At first it looked to me like deja vu Yale game in Albany, but it turned out to be deja vu Princeton.

1/3 is a "good portion" I'd say . . . the entire second period plus some of the first . . either way it's just semantics. NU is going home. LGR!
