Nice to hear anthems from the band instead of the PA system.

I can't believe that Gallagher is playing. He had a high ankle sprain which kept Crosby out for a month last NHL season. Getting some nice chances in the offensive zone so far.

Cornell skating hard and looking very good.  Lots of shots and good passing.  Princeton on defense a lot.  Not much pressure on Scrivens.

Mugford makes a nice rap around attempt.  Stays with it and almost puts in his own rebound.

Cornell out skated and out shot Princeton in the first period.  However, Princeton out checked Cornell.  They are going heavy on the body in this game.

P. Kennedy left about half way through the period.  One announcer suggested he had a leg cramp.  One the bench, he looked very uncomfortable.  He had his leg up on the wall and looked like he was trying to straighten it.  Not totally clear what is going on though.

I'm pretty sure I saw him back out there for a shift at the end of the period.  Hopefully dodged a bullet.

It didn't look intentional or malicious. It looked like the Princeton guy went in on a hockey-as-usual challenge and Kennedy shifted into an awkward stance for a split second.

Third period will start with R. Nash in the P box.

First period was dominated by Cornell.

Second period, slight edge goes to Princeton.  They are one step up on the play and definitely still hitting hard.

I thought that the first goal was on him.  He turned and faced Scrivens, losing the Princeton forward bringing the puck in.  Acted more like a Sean Avery screen than anything else.

Stupid penalties by our best players tonight.  I think that tells a lot of the story.  Greening knew it too.  Really undisciplined stuff by our guys tonight.  I thought Riley could have been called for another minor or two in the 2nd.  He looked impatient.  Let's see if we can rebound.

Goal! What a great effort by Barlow! 3-2.

I'm not saying they're equivalent, no.  The point is a team gets an at-large bid based on their season, not their conference playoffs, and if the math works out it's deserved.  Northeastern lost to a team much worse than Princeton, but even that's not an automatic disqualifier.

Devin and Kary. How have you not figured that out by 4 periods in to the game?

Changes from Game 3 vs. RPI are:
Whitney in for Mike Devin (no explanation why)
Gallagher back from injury replacing Kary

This is funny/sad - just realized I DO get the sportspak and the game is on cable - channel 259. Well, at least I saw the overtime period.  Does it repeat later? - I can record it.

That was a strong overtime period by the Big Red.  Riley Nash got off 3 good shots in about 7 seconds and Kalemba stopped them all.

Really good stuff from the Red in OT.  Kalemba had to be every bit the Hobey Finalist in that period.  Whitney looks great, even though he couldn't capitalize on his chance in front.

Cornell is out playing and out hustling Princeton.  Some of the Princeton checks were a little heavy, but it's hard to get a penalty called in OT.

email them and tell them you lost the link - they'll send you one really quickly - about a minute for me.

And I lost sound also - think it is just for the break (hopefully).

Great commercial for the Bridgeport regional just now.  Of the half-dozen highlights they showed, at least 3 of them were blatant penalties.  Sad.

Scrivens got to Greening to celebrate within about 3 seconds of the puck being in the net.  Impressive.

By the way, Greening has one of the most pathetic playoff beards I've ever seen, but the goal certainly makes up for it!:-P

What a game!  What a finish!  Both teams played at an NCAA tournament level tonight.  Zane Kalemba lived up to his billing as a high caliber goalie.  Cornell had more gas in the tank come overtime, but Princeton nearly scored on several sneaky chances.  Cornell's top guns were held in check for a large part of the second and third periods by a very conservative Tiger defense, until Barlow gave us a glimmer of hope with an incredible end-to-end goal.  Riley Nash evoked the likes of Mark McRae with the extra attacker goal in the final minute to send us to OT.  I nominate this game for TBRW "Landmark" status.
"It deserves a slash I guess"? I think having the refs mic'd up could turn out poorly.
I'm slowly making my way through the thread, I watched the game with friends and put the computer away.

The on-ice mikes were fine and at times amusing (Tyler Mugford's "you owe me one" comment late in the 3rd period, followed by a penalty on Princeton for pulling down Barlow).

The TV announcers, however, left much to be desired. I would have preferred just the on ice mikes.

No, I get the NHLN (USA).

Tomorrow night I will probably experience the joys of B2. I will have my other computer set up to stream the RedCast audio so that I won't miss anything when B2 cuts out.

As for weak, the bad line of the night comes at the end when they were recapping the OT winning goal and credited to "Mike Greening".

Excellent game, and great hustle by the Red. I like how they seem to carry most of the play in the OT.

Btw, it was a real "Cornell on TV" game... There was a RichH sighting at the end of the game :-}.

I recorded the game today on my DVR and I even set it to record more time after the supposed end of the game and wouldn't you know it, the stupid thing stops recording about 8 minutes into the second OT. For those of you keeping score at home, that's roughly 2 minutes of playing time before the end of the game... and of course the first half hour of the recording is just nonsense too. Oh well, seeing it live was better even if my fellow alum in the cube next to me (whose feed was 20 seconds ahead of mine) gave it away by running in and almost making me miss the winning goal :-p

If you get TimeWarner check your TV listings. In TWCNY land it's being rebroadcast Wed. 3/25 at 6 PM. I'm sure it will have other times as well. Since they have a 3 hour slot for it they will probably get rid of some in between period crap as well. As an aside when I program important games like this, I've gone to doing separate programing of 2-1 hour extras after the end of the game. That way I get the OTs, yes I know I could still miss a major marathon, and if they are worthless I just erase them when I get home.
