Announced this afternoon:
Louie Caporusso, Forward - Michigan
Matt Gilroy, Defense - Boston University
Chad Johnson, Goalie - Alaska (Fairbanks)
Zane Kalemba, Goalie - Princeton
Jacques Lamoureux, Forward - Air Force
Jamie McBain, Defense - Wisconsin
David McIntyre, Forward - Colgate
Viktor Stalberg, Forward - Vermont
Brad Thiessen, Goalie - Northeastern
Colin Wilson, Forward - Boston University
It's an unimpressive group, to be completely honest. Quinnipiac Forward Bryan Leitch led the nation in points and points per game by fair margins and didn't make the top ten? But three goalies did even though no goalie really stands out from the others at the top of the pack?
Chad Johnson has carried Alaska, he's at least an interesting candidate. 11-19-6 his first 3 seasons with about a 3.00 GAA and less than a 90% save %. His record doesn't blow you away this year (14-14-5) but his GAA (1.67) and save % (93.9%) are excellent this year. But the record alone doesn't warrant serious Hobey consideration IMHO.
But where is Jordan Pearce if we're nominating goalies? 28-5-3, 1.62 GAA, 93.4% save %?
Like you say, it's a weak year. I'd sheepishly vote for McBain but you could argue against any candidate up there.
IIRC, Cornell was apparently on Theissen's final list of colleges. I was surprised at the time that he would have selected an annual bottom-feeder like Northeastern, but it's obviously worked out well for him.

VERY unusual class. No Leitch, no Pearce. Hell, I'll say it. Scrivens has identical stats to to Kalemba (1.6808 to 1.6876) with a more difficult OOC schedule. Must be the system.
You all know what will happen. Kalemba will win and more than a few people here will have a nit...not just about this year but past years.
if colin wilson wins the hobey, maybe dustin tokarski will come out of nowhere and rob him...again. still bitter ::cuss::

What was wrong with putting the image inline? That's exactly what I thought when I read it, too. ;-)
