Kary in for Gallagher. Patrick Kennedy appears to be OK.
Aaaand, RPI's radio website appears to be down. Bah.
Jason just said that Yale will play the late game Friday and if Cornell advances, we would be in the early game. In recent years, the #1 seed has played the early game. Can anyone confirm or refute what Jason said?
Jason just said that Yale will play the late game Friday and if Cornell advances, we would be in the early game. In recent years, the #1 seed has played the early game. Can anyone confirm or refute what Jason said?
If I remember, correctly, the #1 seed chooses which game to play. So if Yale has chosen the late game, they're playing the late game.
I always just go for audio of our games, and RPI's website is down. What are my other options, and how much do they cost?
I always just go for audio of our games, and RPI's website is down. What are my other options, and how much do they cost?
REDCast has the Cornell audio. No idea what one game costs. The video is on B2.

Maybe they figure that with Cornell having had to play Sunday, they make it even just one more tiny smidge harder for us by giving us three fewer hours of rest before our semi. It's not like they're not used to playing back-to-back evening games anyway.

Crap. This means I have to wake up earlier on Friday to make it to Albany in time from Baltimore.

If you listened to either of the first 2 games and have the downloaded file for the stream, you can open that up and get the stream.
I can try sending the file to you if you email me.
Who are the officials tonight?

Per the ECAC's tournament website, #1 will face #4 in the early game.
Cornell, if there, will get the late game.
This means I have to wake up earlier on Friday to make it to Albany in time from Baltimore.
US Airways has cheap flights to Albany out of BWI, via Philly.
The ECAC HL website as well as recent histroy, refutes what Jason said.
Quote from: On Friday, March 20, the No. 4-seeded team will face the No. 1 seed in the first semifinals contest, followed by the No. 3 seed versus the No. 2 seed in the second semifinals game.
http://www.ecachockey.com/men/tournament/index (http://www.ecachockey.com/men/tournament/index)
In the past, the #1 team had a choice of when to play and typically chooses the early game so they have time to rest.
Both suggest that Yale will play the early game and if Cornell advances, they would be the #2 seed and play the late game.
Better than Southwest? They fly almost every other hour.
Also, RPI feed here: http://icecast1.wrpi.rpi.edu:8000/mp3-128.mp3
Princeton up 2-0 in the first 2 minutes.

Not sure. SW didn't come up as a cheap flight on Expedia.

I don't think SW is listed on Expedia. But if you fly Southwest, remember to check in 24 hours ahead of time, or end up screwed like I was last year. I ended up driving.

Big goal.
Barlow's 10th goal of the year!
Barlow! So glad we got the first one in this game.
WRPI intermission commercial: "In the name of all that is holy, please send women!"
Anybody else getting a very garbled intermission report about other conferences' playoffs? Or is it just my signal going kerflooie?
After one period RPI already has more shots than they did all of last night's game (13 vs. 9). We have 8 shots.
Anybody else getting a very garbled intermission report about other conferences' playoffs? Or is it just my signal going kerflooie?
Anyone get the time of the goal? I heard "Twelve [ ]teen."
What a shot from Barlow. Low and really hard. York didn't seem to move at all. 5 hole.
...and Keir Ross makes it 3-1!
Score!!! 3-1!
That was a big one to get.

Yes! Ross!
R. Nash doorstep shot, rebound hit in by Ross. Seems to be a tact employed by Ross previously.
14:25 Ross from Nash and Kennedy

From R Nash and P Kennedy I think it was 14:25, but somebody correct me if they knew it. I thought I heard 5:35 left.
15:49 M. Kennedy from Jillson
Looking good, Red. I'm sure none of us wanted that "dreaded 2-goal lead"...and now we don't have it.
LGR!
What a great job responding from what should have been a huge momentum-shifting shorty.
All right, Red. They're gonna start gooning it up. Let's avoid injuries.
Excellent!!
Keep it up Red!
Union gets one back, 3-1.
All right, Red. They're gonna start gooning it up.
Here's looking at you, Burgdorfer!
Cornell moving the puck really well in the offensive zone. The game is physical, fast and relatively clean. Some missed penalties on both sides.
What a great job responding from what should have been a huge momentum-shifting shorty.
I agree. I think its something that has been lacking this year. We haven't responded that well. Glad to see some things are coming together at the right time of year.
All right, Red. They're gonna start gooning it up. Let's avoid injuries.
And suspensions. Don't do anything stupid in response to goonery.
York is again looking like the game is a little too much for him.
Because I'll probably forget later, here's a plug for "You Are the Committee" - which will be active on CHN tonight once the last game is done ... unfortunately that game is in Alaska tonight (vs. OSU) ... so that means at least 1:30 a.m.
http://www.collegehockeynews.com/ratings/yatc.php
I believe Cornell is a lock with a win here and one win in Albany. Same can be said for Princeton and Yale. Yale is probably in already.
ECAC could get 4 teams if St. Lawrence splits in Albany, and gets some help. If St. Lawrence wins in Albany, obviously it is in, and could be as high as No. 7 overall, from my calculations.
Hurting the ECAC from getting 4 teams in, is the fact that someone in Albany must lose 2 games. This would be a good case for eliminating the consolation game. Either that, or someone should direct them to tie :)
If Cornell or Princeton loses two games in Albany, it will severely hurt them - and most likely knock them out.
I was at the game last night. That guys is a serious drama queen.
All right, Red. They're gonna start gooning it up. Let's avoid injuries.
Nah, Appert isn't Gaudet. RPI plays inside the opponent's jersey because right now they need to to stay in the game. They aren't undisciplined, they're tactical, which is why Schafer needed to Make A Statement.
I would expect RPI to really open it up -- they have to. Cornell should see a lot of open ice and more chances in the third, as well as tests to the D.
Ihope you're right, Trotsky
Goal by Halpern. He was in the slot, right in front of Scrivens and the puck was sent in to him.

I'm using that one as well. I tried the others Friday and Saturday, but after working for a while, they got choppy and cut out. The 64 seems to be the most reliable.
RPI goes with the extra attacker. Oops, they forget to pull the goalie. No Penalty called.

I'm with Beeeej.
Ow... my ears... That band sucks!
On RedCast Color guy Tony just mentioned how Cornell wants to play a defensive game right now.
Well, we know have the dreaded 2 goal lead, but we can't give RPI the opportunity to set up in our zone.
Sounds like Scali's line (Punches/Nichols) will be getting a lot of ice time and it sounds like they are doing a good job keeping it RPI's zone.
That would be fine by me... rag time off the clock and cycle that puck!
Does this victory put us in the NCAA tournament?

Brandon Thomas posted on his blog that Cornell-Princeton will be the late game on Friday. Don't know if that's an assumption based on past practice or if it's been confirmed by Yale's decision. Could make for a short night for those of us planning to drive to New Haven for Cornell's lacrosse game at Yale...then, let's hope, returning for the LATE game on Saturday.
Should be a great tournament. Four teams all playing well and with shots at the NCAAs. Consolation game should have real meaning this time.

I posted this earlier, but it bears repeating. The ECAC Hockey website reads:
The 48th championship will comprise four games beginning Friday, March 20 and concluding Saturday, March 21. On Friday, March 20, the No. 4-seeded team will face the No. 1 seed in the first semifinals contest, followed by the No. 3 seed versus the No. 2 seed in the second semifinals game. On Saturday, March 21, the third-place and championship games will be played. The 2009 ECAC Hockey champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Can we say soup sandwich?
according to the NHL channel the sat game is not on TV its on tape delay sun and i dont see the conci game at all.
I was disappointed that there was no on-ice celebration after the game. Last time we did it was in '06 after the Clarkson series. Was this a relatively common practice back in the day? After the most important win and last home game of the year, would it be too much trouble to let us congratulate our student athletes? Do they take trips to Albany for granted now? What the f?
Coach's decision
Thanks for digging that up, Jordan. It used to be the 1-seed's choice, and they always chose the early game, so a year or two ago, the league just formalized it as indicated, but I was too lazy to look it up.
Still a bit iffy on the start time, though. The tickets say 7:00.
Also, it's harder to rush the ice now since the glass is higher (I remember vividly people jumping in '05) and the RPI players that didn't dress were clustered around the door by section A.
Since they put the new glass up, and they decide to let students on the ice, they've opened the Zamboni doors. All once that happened anyway...
