Oh wow, the Union radio feed has come through. I'm glad I sat through that unintelligible folk music.
Jillson back in the line-up skating with Greening and Gallagher.
Scoreboard watching tonight:
30 Yal 0 Prn 0
26 Prn 0 Yal 0
25 Cor 0 Uni 0
22 Drt 0 SLU 0
20 SLU 0 Drt 0
Jillson back in the line-up skating with Greening and Gallagher.
He replaces Joe Devin.
Keir Ross's first of the season!
The Freshman Texans come through as Jillson fed Ross beautifully from behind the net.

Don't try to tell us you didn't enjoy that music.
Cornell pp coming up, roughing on U.
Riley Nash with a beautiful deflection for the PPG!
We're looking very good so far. Always nice to convert the first PP of the game too ;)

SLU up 3 4-0 on Dartmouth according to the ECACHL site. Clarkson up 1-0 on Harvard.
Having trouble crossing the red line.
We're having issues with the U forecheck in the latter half of this period.
B. Nash hits the post on a big blast, and Gallagher gets stoned on a spinning shot seconds later.
Riley Nash goes backhand on a breakaway and just sneaks it past Milan!
And a Mugford goal gets waved off as the net was knocked off its moorings.
No trouble there. Gorgeous goal by Riley.
Dirty Union goalie pulled a Scrivens. He knocked his own net off the post.
Nicholls off for tripping after a missed hit.
SLU 4 Drt 0 in the first.
Ohboy, and now Riley Nash off for a cross-check. Union gets 1:38 of 5x3.
Riley takes a dumb one.
Walters scores on the 5x3 for U after some good puck movement.
Union will start the 2nd with 13 seconds of PP time.
Princeton radio feed is hoops. LiveStats still has it as pre-game.
It seems like Brendon is always the one to hit Riley with a beautiful outlet pass to start a breakaway...almost like these two know each other pretty well or something.
44-27 Cornell over Brown at the half. Must be a Friday problem.
3 goals on 5 shots? Trevor Koenig, ye are sorely missed for the U!
Hey Trotsky, any idea of the last time we scored three 1st-period goals on consecutive nights?
Dartmouth got 1 back in Canton, 4-1.
Rest of the U pp killed and then Riley makes up for his earlier dumb penalty by drawing one.
PP coming up.
Hey Trotsky, any idea of the last time we scored three 1st-period goals on consecutive nights?
3/12-13/04, Games 1 and 2 of QF v Clarkson. How'd that work out?

Hey Trotsky, any idea of the last time we scored three 1st-period goals on consecutive nights?
3/12-13/04, QF v Clarkson.
Gracias!
U back to full strength.
Walters skates around both our defensemen and nearly notches his second of the night, followed by Seminoff taking a penalty.
U pp coming up.
SLU 6 Dartmouth 1. Yikes.
We kill it off.
SLU 6 Dartmouth 1. Yikes.
Clearly, it would be a moral victory for us if SLU scores more than 8 ;)
Simpson down on the ice after a big open-ice hit by Mugford, setting off a scrum in the corner. Mike Devin getting roughed up and giving it back.
Union has some speedy wingers - have to keep them boxed out!
SLU just hit the post on a 3x5 penalty kill. I think Dartmouth may have left the building.
Matching minors on Collins and Boileau for the extracurriculars.
Nate Leaman apparently argued succesfully for another penalty, as B. Nash will join Collins in the box and U will have a pp.
Cornell has so far been outshot this weekend 39-29.
You know, Union isn't such a bad team. Their power play moves the puck very well. We, considering our (generally) clean play, might be the exact wrong team for them to play.
Our PK is way too passive - we're giving these guys way too much respect. Union does not have the stick skills to withstand more pressure - have to get after their guys on the points!
And Union converts. We've been dogging it since getting up by three. One shot this period.
Caffaro rips a one-timer past Scrivens on the man-advantage.
Come on, let's wake up here.
The puck apparently deflected in off a Cornell defender, so Scrivens can't be faulted entirely for that last one.
Milan barely keeps a deflection out of the U net.
Keir Ross pokes home a loose puck in the midst of a scrum and he has his 2nd of the night!
Keir's 2nd was big...had to stop U's momentum.
Great effort on that goal by Riley. He has been incredible tonight.
Great effort on that goal by Riley. He has been incredible tonight.
Absolutely - really strong move to split two defenders and create the chaos in the Union D.
We're putting on some good pressure now...nice to see.
Keir's 2nd was big...had to stop U's momentum.
Trotsky, your wish may yet come true, only ~ 26 hours or so late.
LGR!
Good shift by the Scali-Punches-Nicholls line.
To answer Jason's radio question: January 4, 2008 (http://www.tbrw.info/boxScores/box20080104.html). Barlow and Michael Kennedy, 2 goals each.
A good offensive effort in the last 5 mins of the 2nd, let's keep it up for the 3rd...maybe get one of these guys a hat trick? ::innocent::

Well, thanks for that jinx. ::twak::

That was quick... I thought we would have to wait until the 2nd intermission. ::bugeye::
Is there anyway you can email/call Jason and Tony let them know? (or maybe someone at the rink checking in on their iphone can send a note up to them, they still are stumped). ;-)

I let Brandon Thomas know on the IJ liveblog...he's going to try to fill Jason in.

I just told Brandon Thomas on his liveblog...he said he'll try to let them know. Hopefully it'll make it on the air.
In a nice touch, they are both being honored tonight as seniors.
My, seeing the replay, Ross did a wonderful job crashing the net on his second goal. He went strong, fought through the initial save, stopped the puck with his skate, and then made sure to whack it in with the stick just before getting clobbered. Great effort.
According to Yale radio (http://www.wybc.com/), 17:30 to play in the third, Yale 0 Princeton 0.
b-ball getting interesting.. yale took the lead vs col..
Jillson heads to the bench looking a little worse for wear, but not going to the locker room yet.
Princeton just took the lead on Yale, 1-0.
Mugford with a good look on a one-timer from Collins, but can't squeeze it in short-side.
Taylor Davenport gets called for a boarding minor...U pp coming up.
Hopin' we'll be more aggressive on the kill.
U can't count...4x4 now, and then a brief pp for us.
Barlow PPG...a nice one-timer from his usual spot near the faceoff dot!
yale knocks off Columbia.. CU back to a 2 game lead
Another pp coming up for us.
you have to wonder just how much the injuries were effecting cornell the last few weeks. sounded like even more than just the ones who didnt suit up were dinged pretty good.
U kills it off.
Punches has had several good offensive chances tonight.
Princeton eng, 2-0, 40 seconds to go.
Union scores on a rebound but it's waived off due to a high stick.
Princeton and SLU have won.
you have to wonder just how much the injuries were effecting cornell the last few weeks. sounded like even more than just the ones who didnt suit up were dinged pretty good.
Playing teams that suck doesn't hurt, either...
Dan DiLeo in goal now.
"Thank you, Seniors" chants starting up.
DiLeo stops a one-timer and gets a huge ovation.
5-2 Final.
Nice Senior Night effort.
That's a wrap, as DiLeo pitches over a minute of shutout hockey.
would be nice to see colg/cornell win next fri and make the yale game mean something.
Apparently the Redcast camera has night-vision capabilities.
Apparently the Redcast camera has night-vision capabilities.
I was just about to post the same thing. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little impressed.
Apparently the Redcast camera has night-vision capabilities.
In case special forces ever goes on penalty kill...
DiLeo looked so tiny in goal...I forget that Scrivens is a big boy.
I'm sure Tyler's parents were thriled to hear a few "Mugford's gonna kill you" chants break out as he took his lap ;)
Who's the woman that all the seniors are hugging under the scoreboard?
Who's the woman that all the seniors are hugging under the scoreboard?
Sue Detzer "The Hockey Mom", maybe?
I really have liked the switch to honoring the Seniors after the game. It allows the Seniors to be recognized for all their accomplishments while at Cornell and for them to fully enjoy the moment with their family and friends. When the ceremony is before the game I think majority of their focus is on the upcoming game (as it should be) rather than receiving congratulations for their efforts.
Thank you Seniors for some wonderful hockey memories! All the best for the rest of the season and all your future endeavors.
would be nice to see colg/cornell win next fri and make the yale game mean something.
Hm? Cornell plays Yale Friday. Colgate plays them Sunday afternoon (espnu). They'll know exactly what they need to lock up the Cleary (if they don't do it Friday).
Nice to know Cornell has locked up a top 3 finish. Next week should be interesting to see how the top three shake out. Princeton has to go to Harvard (aka the team that doesn't lose ECAC games in february (only beanpot games) and Dartmouth who are both chasing a bye and in much greater need of a win than PU.
No matter how it shakes out next week, I just hope no one gets hurt and Grillo's bunch doesn't pick any fights that lead to playoff suspensions. I'm looking forward to the game Friday and if it matters will likely head down to new haven again sunday to cheer for colgate.
Cornell plays Yale Friday and Brown Saturday. Note that USCHO has the schedule wrong.

Yale game could have serious pairwise implications. According to CHN at 11:37pm, Princeton is #6, Cornell tied for #8 with Miami and UHN, and Yale right behind those three at #11. Weekend results not all in, however.
Cornell plays Yale Friday and Brown Saturday. Note that USCHO has the schedule wrong.
Meanwhile, Cornell Athletics, ELynah, the ECAC website, CHN, and INCH all have the correct schedule.
A shame we don't play Brown on Friday since they had 3 players DQ'd for fighting against QU.
A shame we don't play Brown on Friday since they had 3 players DQ'd for fighting against QU.
I guess. But this team really shouldn't need that kind of help to beat the last place team in the league. (Not taking anything for granted but...)

Who's the woman that all the seniors are hugging under the scoreboard?
Sue Detzer "The Hockey Mom", maybe?
Sue was at the bench. The woman under the scoreboard was Dale Grossman, the faculty advisor.
Any chance some video of Senior Night surfaces as it has occasionally in prior years?

Of course, it would be nice to have some of Brown's brawlers not out there to cause problems.

He replaces Joe Devin.
Today's Ithaca Journal reports Joe Devin was "dinged" in the RPI game the night before. Uncertain whether he'll play at Yale and Brown.
