Lazy looking power play. 0-3 on the PP so far.
sigh
In how many games this season have we not scored first?
Yale's the quickest team we've played this year.
In how many games this season have we not scored first?
5, including the scoreless tie, and tonight.
Redcast announcers are talking about their sport-DVD business and don't realize the mic is hot.
Cornell is 0-0-2 when trailing after 1.
That goal was Kennedy's fault. After he got thrown out of the faceoff circle, he went to stand in the slot. And when the puck dropped, he immediately charged forward. He probably thought Yale was going to pass it back to their point man. But they didn't. They put the shot on net right away and it was already too late for Kennedy to turn back to clear the rebound.
Good first shift by Mugford, Scali and Punches.. they kept it in Yale's zone and had a few shots.
Tyler also was a very good 1st intermission interview with Jason. Very well spoken.
seminoff!!
SNIPED!!! BY SEMINOFFFFFFFFF
New hockey game.
great start to the period by the Red
Nice shot! Really ripped.
O'Neill should have been called for a dive
That was a nice dive, I must say.
Devin looked like a pylon on that sequence. 4 v 4 goal.
LGR!
Yale has confirmed by suspicion that they are a good, opportunistic team.
Scrivens can't control his rebounds tonight :( He's not turning them aside to the board. He's letting them sit in front of the crease.

If you played hockey, you would know that that is exactly what Kennedy is supposed to do on the faceoff. The defenseman that lines up next to him at the center side of the faceoff dot is supposed to cover the winger that is in front of them, and the winger is supposed to charge out and cover the defenseman. This is the textbook way to play a faceoff.
Does this mean Yale will win the Ivy banner?
So who, in the textbook, is supposed to have cleared that rebound? :(
Edit: I just watched the replay again. It looked like everyone moved forward. Kennedy, being the last man, had everyone to his right in his sight and decided to play by the "textbook" and went up as well I guess. As a result, we had a huge gaping fluted hole in front of the crease. If someone else didn't play by the textbook here, Kennedy sure did not notice that and did not make the appropriate adjustment to the mistake.
Scrivens is not looking sharp tonight.
Does this mean Yale will win the Ivy banner?
What? That they're good? opportunistic? That they're leading by one in the second period of the first game between these teams and one of 10 Ivy games for each school? I'm confused.
O'Neill could become a favored target at Lynah over the next few years.
Nash!
Riley Nash picks up some garbage in front of the net on the PP. 2-2
Crash the net guys.
Riley Nash ppg.
Scramble in front and Nash puts it into a virtually wide open net.
Yale about to go on the pp.
LGR!
2 minutes for playing defense?

Haha, my panic button is panicking.
"Bush went to Yale."
Attended would be a better verb.
Yale likes the penalty box.
Effen A.
We are 0-2 in the 4x4 situation.
B. Nash has to take the penalty before the guy gets past him and in to penalty shot territory there.
so 4x4 against yale = death.
Yale has confirmed by suspicion that they are a good, opportunistic team.
And tenacious. Another 4 v 4 goal off a flubbed puck by B. Nash.
Looks like Yale has learned to go high on Scrivens in close.:-O
B. Nash has to take the penalty before the guy gets past him and in to penalty shot territory there.
And if he does, he gets put down around here for being too slow to be in position.
B. Nash has to take the penalty before the guy gets past him and in to penalty shot territory there.
That's what I thought. Gee the one time he needed to take a penalty.....

Its not like that argument is going to change whether he lets the guy past him and gives up a goal or takes the guy down and gets a penalty. I don't blame him b/c he was flat footed and puck hopped, and the yale guy was already skating that way. You just have to know when to take a penalty at the smart time.
Horrible power play.
There wasn't much I liked about that man advantage.
There wasn't much I liked about that man advantage.
I was just glad we didn't give up a shg. That was quite ugly.
There wasn't much I liked about that man advantage.
Well...Yale didn't score...so that's a plus::help::
18-6 shot disadvantage in the 2nd. Very opportunistic Yale team.
Devin looked like a pylon on that sequence. 4 v 4 goal.
LGR!
That was my thought exactly.

And this is the only part of that powerplay I liked. ;-)
18-6 shot disadvantage in the 2nd. Very opportunistic Yale team.
Amazing considering we seemed to be on power play for the entire period.
Brown winning 2-1 at Colgate after 2. The Raiders are a very, very inconsistent team...
Oh no.... another 4 v 4 situation.
Yikes!
And we survive.
Still down a goal ~ 13 minutes left.
Ugh! Devin could not connect on that pass to tap the puck into an open net.
Much better tempo this period. Now just need to net one.
Close, great move by R. Nash
4-2.
fuck
three 4x4 goals from Yale in one night. against the best defense in the nation too.
Was that...."Donald Sucks????":-}
Scalia takes a penalty for Cornell. Yale takes a retaliation penalty and gives Yale another 4 v.4.
Not a bad move considering Yale is 3/4 when playing 4 v. 4.
Yuck. Empty net.
Let's be sure to start practicing how to crack a quick, two-person forecheck.
Lets take a screenshot of the PWR while we're still #1!
Gotta give props to Brian Sullivan from USCHO
I attribute the loss directly to Andy Noel's fan intimidation.
Ok. 21 secs to go.
Nash scores!
Gametime.
B. Nash!!
20 sec left.
4-3. Final.
We'll get the Bull Dogs in New Haven.
Good game to let them know they aren't invincible. Should be a fun week in practice this week.
Hopefully we'll pick it up tomorrow night against Brown.:-/
Man, those 4x4 situations killed us.
Tied for 4th in the PWR.
It's not any one formation or situation that killed us it was not moving our feet and Yale out hustling us most of the game. Minor problem of playing I believe first game this year with 5 D-man instead of 6.
Not only did Yale out-hustle us, but I don't think this year's team is good enough to figure out how to respond to a quick forechecking team. (The secret is playing in crisp passing and playing in position.)
P.S. Maybe we won't lose again tonight if somebody has the gumption to start the game thread before the game is actually ten minutes in.
