Several lineup changes (per pre-game interview with Schafer):
Roeszler, Kary, TaDavenport in
Jillson, Nicholls, MDevin out.
Unfortunately, Jason's broadcast sounds as awful as it did last night.
Teams just entered on to the ice. I'm not getting any audio on B2. It's actually better thab the SCSU radio guys.
Colgate free audio here:
Colgate Audio (http://www.teamline.cc/sportpage?teamcode=2007&eventcode=25)
No video or audio from B2. Great!
Listening to Redcast for now.
Anyone getting the B2 feed yet?
I'm getting the B2 feed, but terrible audio.
yeh the audio is not really working
I have B2 up, but the audio is verry, verry quiet.
I got video only. Redcast audio is about 1 min behind the video.
Good save by Scrivens on a partial breakaway.
The audio problem got corrected, and almost blew out my eardrums.
Not Jason - Colgate feed.
This guy at least learned the rosters. Compred to last night's crew this guy should be on ESPN.
bad giveaway
Terrible giveaway.
So did anyone catch who gave it away?
So did anyone catch who gave it away?
If you believe Jason, it was Michael Kennedy.
shg colgate
we're awful at the blueline on the pp
Grrr 2-0 Gate.
Shawty for Colgate :(
We're sleepwalking through this period. Three shots on goal.
WOW! Two horrible turnovers.
almost 0-3. but Scrivens was godlike.
Schafer needs to push some buttons. That was a dull effort.
That was a dull effort.
Rather it was no effort.
Here's the button to push. (http://www.bombombombomwooooo.com/)::worry::
Here's the button to push. (http://www.bombombombomwooooo.com/)::worry::
No, I want a button that does something.::cuss::
IRC information is irc.warped.net, #lynah, right? I didn't see anyone in there. Do I have the wrong server?
Five or more blatant giveaways so far with two of them resulting in goals. What in the world is going on? ::help::
On the bright side, the REDcast feed has taken an encouraging turn for the so-so.
very sloppy pp.
5x3. Let's hope we get something going. LGR!
pp goal gallagher
nice goal. gallagher
6:48 gallagher's first goal of the season
SCORE!!!! Gallagher!
and right back on the pp
Five or more blatant giveaways so far with two of them resulting in goals. What in the world is going on? ::help::
I think one reason for that is that Colgate is going after our D-men and they're not handling it well.
Anyone watching the B2 feed actually --see-- the goal? We apparently missed perhaps 10-20 seconds of the broadcast somehow, going from about 10 seconds left in the 5-3 to about 10-15 seconds after the goal, as the line that was out on the ice when the goal was scored was skating by the Cornell bench.
Our PP is weak
I saw it on B2.
Nice goal.
I saw the goal here.
Our PP is weak
I wish they'd put more shots on net while on PP.
or in net for that matter
Thanks. Must have been some weird internet lag catching up at an inopportune time.
Whitney looked like a pylon.
Looks we've started skating after the three quick Colgate penalties.
Scrivens is definitely saving our bacon again - great save followed by knocking the puck into the corner out of the air with his stick while getting knocked on his butt.
nice pass
about all i can tell from jason's broadcast is that somebody scored for cornell
Dammit I WAS TYPING for 2 seconds and I missed the goal.
michael kennedy from whitney and roeszler
We should keep a tally of how many ways opposing teams announcers pronounce Roeszler. I've counted 3 different this game alone.
I was doing the same. It didn't sound too fancy. I guess it bounced off a defender and went between the goalies legs.
We should keep a tally of how many ways opposing teams announcers pronounce Roeszler. I've counted 3 different this game alone.
It's ok, Jason just mispronounced it, too. :-}
ress-ler. ross-ler. rose-ler. i'm not sure what it is myself, and i've known tyler's father since 1981.
ress-ler. ross-ler. rose-ler. i'm not sure what it is myself, and i've known tyler's father since 1981.
Add russ-ler to the list.
Someone on USCHO reported Harvard lost to Huntsville in the consy game.
cornell pronunciation guide says it's roz-ler. guess that's what i'll call him.
cornell pronunciation guide says it's roz-ler. guess that's what i'll call him.
Jason has been alternating between "Rezler" and "Wrestler."
B.Nash needs to be benched,Colgates just taking the puck right from him and skating circles around him not to mention his bad passes.
I like this Colgate radio guy
yeh i think he's pretty competent
Damn. All alone in the slot and our guy fires high and wide. Why can't we finish?
back on the pp
Lots of good chances.
back on the pp
Opposite of last night: always on the advantage (and a shorty given up).
doesn't matter. to me, cornell pp = pee break. our special team needs to be much much better.
doesn't matter. to me, cornell pp = pee break. our special team needs to be much much better.
It would become a little better if we hit the net.
I like this Colgate radio guy
I'm with you on that. He said the Cornell Pep Band is the best in the conference. Gotta respect a guy who says something like that about another school!

Well, he was only telling the truth.
another horrible giveaway
Some sloppy puck-handling there for a bit.
I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of J. Devin. After long shifts that ended in icing, he will intentionally get bounced from the faceoff circle to buy some extra time for the tired line to recover.
pretty good intensity building here - hope we can use it and not get sloppy.
OT.
Please tell me this will not go to a shootout after one OT.
Please tell me this will not go to a shootout after one OT.
Well, that's the second best outcome.
Was that the right penalty call?
Argh. I don't think it was intentional. Colgate announcer is sympathetic.
TO in OT. 40 seconds left.
TO Colgate. Two seconds left in OT, faceoff in the Cornell zone.
Whatever happened to those face-off-in-the-offensive-zone plays Cornell pulled off in the Vesce/Murray/McRae era?
Two seconds left. Faceoff outside of Cornell's net. Colgate has pulled their goalie.
Can we somehow trick our guys into thinking these are not penalty shots?
And yet another two goal Colgate lead that has resulted in a two-two tie.
Frankly after that first period we were lucky to end up with a tie.
Can we somehow trick our guys into thinking these are not penalty shots?
Put a Raider defenseman out there?
a tie against colgate? that's not good
Frankly after that first period we were lucky to end up with a tie.
Agree.
Shootout:
Cornell Colgate
Roeszler: Save Smith: Save
Gallagher: Goal ?: Save
R. Nash: Save McIntyre: Whiff
Seminoff: Goal Riley: Save
Cornell takes the shootout 2-0.
Cornell with a win.*
*Not really.
Fitting the Harkness Trophy comes to Ithaca the year of his passing.
That's a Cornell football fight song. The real one, not the goofy one Knowles uses.
lord knows where they dug up audio of "the big red team" from
Scrivens is the MVP, well deserved.
QuoteThat's a Cornell football fight song. The real one, not the goofy one Knowles uses.
Cornell victorious?
Tie knocks Cornell to third in pairwise. Ho hum.
Colgate seems to have figured out that the Cornell defense is uncomfortable with a 2 man fore-check. They were quite good at forcing turnovers. Mike needs to come up with a new approach before everyone else in the country watches the game film.

I think it's "Fight for Cornell."
"Make all advances strong and sure today; take all the chances fate throws in the way; fight for the glory that is earned so well; victory makes history so fight for Cornell."
Actually, it may have been a medley of Cornell songs, including the one above.
Whatever it was, they played it after every goal and every time we came out onto the ice for each period. Someone who's been to the tourney several times before said they've never had any of the appropriate songs (Davy, My Old Cornell, etc.), just this obscure one.
Long deserved the all-tourney team goalie slot. He kept 'Gate in the game in the third period.

Well, I think everyone would agree "Davy" would be the right choice. But I wouldn't say "Fight for Cornell" is any more "obscure" or any less "appropriate" than "My Old Cornell" or "Cornell Victorious" or several other traditional Cornell songs. Just because you don't know it...;-)
And maybe Craig Brush just likes it.::crazy::

From what I remember of the early years of this tournament, they used the "New Cornell Fight Song" after goals. Now if I were the arena DJ guy and got handed a CU band CD for the first tournament...that's probably what I would pick to play after goals. However, I seem to recall that JTW et al. made a stink and a legitimate attempt to let it be known that "Davy" be played.
Still wrong after all these years...9 years in, I guess it's tradition now. ::doh::
It definitely wasn't up tempo enough to be TNCFS (which I believe is the one that Knowles uses?). And I think Al's right in that it was 'Fight For Cornell'.
Both 'Fight For Cornell' and 'Cornell Victorious' are great songs, and should be played more often at the games, but the 'fight' song they are not.
Edit: And yes, I realize that 'fight' is in the title of the former.

Yes. It's #3 and it's nonsense that Knowles took it away, both by policy and lack of success. He's effectively killed NCFS and #3.

It's not Fight for Cornell.
mnagowski, if you search through some older threads on this topic (maybe in the Other Sports forum in a football discussion), you'll find a good post (I think from RichH or Lowell '99) explaining the superstition about #3 that leads Chris and me to be so obtuse about it.
