Title: Florida Roll Call
Post by: ebilmes on December 16, 2008, 02:56:25 PM
We're about a week and a half away...who's making the trip this year? Will there be an alumni band?

I'll be there with my favorite Florida hockey buddy B-].

Unfortunately, neither one of us has any musical talent, but we promise not to "speed up" the cheers ;-).

I'm there plus 1, 2 or 3.  We're traveling with another couple (the guy's an RPI grad, but they've got a Cornell '03 Lynah Faithful son, so they have some connection).

Nope, not him.   My friend really didn't follow hockey during his RPI days.  I bought his son a Cornell hockey baseball cap as soon as he got admitted, and pointed him in the right direction (i.e. toward Lynah).

See you all there.

Don't forget to come up to the hospitality area above section 114.
We're selling Cornell sweatshirts for $20, kids and adult sizes
Cornell hats for $15
Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20.  Grand prize on each day is a hockey stick signed by the Men's Ice Hockey 08/09 team.
Refreshments are served, simply buy a raffle ticket if you'd like to partake.
Oh and did I mention, private Cash Bar, just for us.  :)

Following the games on both days, the Men's Ice Hockey team and coaches come up to the hospitality area for dinner after they hit the showers.  Be sure to stick around if you'd like to meet them or get an autograph.

Go Big Red!

Four to six of us, depending on whether the in-laws living nearby want to see the game.

If attendance is soft overall for the two days, is it the stupid economy, or is it the size / stature of the other two teams? When Ohio State or Notre Dame was in the tournament, the place rocked.

I think "rocked" is a relative term, especially after watching a few games at Lynah earlier this month! In any case, since I believe Everblades season ticket holders are required to buy tickets for these games, the base of fans should still be comparable to previous years. Maine always has a decent contingent at the Florida event, too, so I don't anticipate too much of a drop-off from previous years.

Also, this is the first time in the 5 years I have been attending this event that the games have been on a Sat and Sun, which should make it easier for locals to make it.

It's true, these games are included in Everblades season's tickets passes. Plus, this year the arena intentionally didn't schedule any games in the few days surrounding the games, so more Everblades fans may stop by for the fun.

Hope to see you all at the hospitality area. :)
