RPI played close enough on Saturday to make a game of it vs. the Miami Red Hawks. 3-1 loss including an empty net goal.
Not so for today's matinee. The former Red Hawks (current Puckmen) lost to Miami 7-1.

Union was swept by Maine this weekend leaving the St. Lawrence win over Vermont as the lone ECAC win for the weekend.
The RPI hockey team has thankfully never been called the Red Hawks. Each team has the option of using either moniker, and both the men's and women's hockey teams are the Engineers, as are the football team and some others. The baseball team, for example, is called the Red Hawks.
Before someone else says it -- yes, it is ironic that the hockey team, having few members who major in engineering, has decided to keep the name Engineers, while many of the D-III teams, which are more representative of the student population, have changed to Red Hawks.

In spite of the Red Hawk correction it can be noted that the bird did show up at hockey games for a few years before Puckman Sr. came on the scene. I'll now quote the faithful during a couple of their visits to Troy.
