Anyone else having problems with the redcast? It keeps cutting off. :-/
Doh...just a minute before I posted mine.
Anyone else having problems with the redcast? It keeps cutting off. :-/
No problems here
Anyone else having problems with the redcast? It keeps cutting off. :-/
Doesn't answer your question, but SLUt audio is working fine.
And it comes with impeccable analysis. "If SLU gets a few goals, stays out of the box, and gets good goaltending, they have a great chance to get a win tonight at Lynah Rink."
Starters:
Scali - Mugford - Nicholls
B. Nash - Seminoff
Scrivens
Mugford back on the checking line tonight. I guess Roeszler will end up in his place with Gallagher and J. Devin.
Thanks.

Anyone else having problems with the redcast? It keeps cutting off. :-/
No problems here
It stopped a bit during the Canadian Anthem, but seems to look good.
Perfect, here.
Collins back in the lineup. Apparently there's a Blue Jackets scout at Lynah this weekend, so it's nice that they actually get to see him play tonight.
Anyone else having problems with the redcast? It keeps cutting off. :-/
Mine has been fine since 00:30 CET.
Looks like Collins is in for Roeszler.
SLUt hits the post on a breakaway.
Mugford to the box.
SLU(t) play-by-play man pulled a Sterling.
He shoots, HE SCORESS!!!!"
Color guy: "No, it hit the post."
Even-up cross-checking call to the Saints.
Now 4 x 4
Jason says that Fensel is "St. Lawrence's Jared Seminoff...they're basically the same guy."
Back to even strength.
Insane individual effort by Gallagher who dekes around two SLU players and then goes just wide of the net on a spinning backhand attempt.
Wow - What a Gallagher rush. If he finishes that it's the highlight goal of the year!
That was ESPN top play worthy if he finished it. Great effort, great dekes, just missed wide.
Petizian with a save on a 2 on 0 and then a SLU player knocks the net off.
Lots of good scoring chances for us so far, and only that crossbar for SLU.
Whitney's looking good this weekend.
When's the Last time SLU cleared the red line???
Ever since they said the shots were only 3-2 Red, we've been dominant except on the scoreboard.
Shit. We can't count.
Jason's color-commentating partner just added Pittsburgh's Ryan Whitney (Sean's older brother) to our lineup.
Penalty killed
End of 1. No score.
We dominated that period, but couldn't finish our chances.
Hey Mr. Timekeeper...
He also said SLU kept the game "under control". ::wtf::
In the sense of no score, I guess but the possession time/ shots are gonna be crazy red.
Maybe I'm falling victim to the whatever is most recent is best bias that Sportscenter is so good at instilling in the world, but this is the best, most balanced offense Cornell has had since my freshman year in 2003-2004. While it hasn't shown up on the scoreboard, the team has seemed to buzz in the offensize end lately, at least in the last 4 games I have gotten to see (Harvard, Dartmouth, Clarkson and tonight). Am I mis-remembering/oversating this?
SOG were 14-3 in our favor.
Cornell pp...McKenzie for slashing.
Greening!
Greening on the back-door...PPG! Beautiful tic-tac-toe passing from Gallagher and Riley.
That looked exactly like the power play Harvard killed us with in the ECAC semis in Albany about 3 yrs ago.
SLU out-chancing us so far this period...Scrivens looking strong.
That looked exactly like the power play Harvard killed us with in the ECAC semis in Albany about 3 yrs ago.
Thanks for that memory, Tim.
Speaking of Harvard, they're down 2-1 early in the 2nd period. Harvard scored on a 5x3 PP in the 1st, but couldn't get anything going on a 5 minute opportunity. Harvard announcers have been saying that when UND is down a man, it looks about even out there.
Whose name were they singing the "hey baby" song to?
Cornell going back on the pp. Interference on J. Keller. Let's net another one!
Sloppy pp breakout this time around.
B. Nash falls asleep as Riley looks to find him on the point.
A tale of two powerplays. A beautiful play and quick finish on the last one...we can't even get set up on the current one.
Back to even strength
5 on 3. good evening. i am a new registrant.
SLUTS getting dirty.
5 on 3. good evening. i am a new registrant.
Welcome...but not a 5 on 3. A 5-minute 5x4 ;)
Ok,now we've a 5 minute powerplay. SLU hitting from behind.
Come on...5 minutes. Let's at least get one.
Whose name were they singing the "hey baby" song to?
I thought I heard "Scali" but I'm not sure...
B. Nash with a rocket but Petizian snags it with the glove.
Deep Breaths, Jeff.... Close your eyes... Albany ECAC Playoffs in 2003...Think of Paolini steaming down the left side in OT...Harvard has Hyphen in the nets. Paolini shoots...and.......
Damn. Full strength.
nevermind
This game has had a million stoppages.
5-minute penalty killed off by SLU. B. Nash let loose about 6 blasts from the same spot on the point. Reminiscent of Bitz and McCutcheon and the ill-fated 06-07 powerplay.
5-minute penalty killed off by SLU. B. Nash let loose about 6 blasts from the same spot on the point. Reminiscent of Bitz and McCutcheon and the ill-fated 06-07 powerplay.
Love how by the third time, every time it was passed to him an SLU player dove for the block. How about taking a stickhandle around the block after that and then taking the shot, or moving the puck on a pass to take advantage of the defender being down.
Hey - at least wait til Jeff recovers wiilya?
Deep Breaths, Jeff.... Close your eyes... Albany ECAC Playoffs in 2003...Think of Paolini steaming down the left side in OT...Harvard has Hyphen in the nets. Paolini shoots...and.......
Aaaaaaahhhhhhh! Much better!
B. Nash follows up his powerplay creativity with a holding penalty. SLU pp.
And that's two. Much more even period there.
Jason seems to forget that the Lynah crowd doesn't like it when the opposing goalie bangs his stick at the end of a powerplay.
SOG 21-11 after 2.
I'm not superstitious. I don't believe in jinx. So I'm gonna say it right now. I smell a shutout for Scrivens tonight.

Big glove save by Scrivens on McKenzie.
Man that was a close one.
Nice slow and extended "Sieve" cheer there :)
Matching minors...4x4.
Gallagher having a hell of a game, and only an assist to show for it so far.
Nice slow and extended "Sieve" cheer there :)
Slow chants are the best. In the past years (since 2003) many of our cheers have become really rushed and they just sound weaker.

Letsgoredletsgoredletsgorednesfjfksfdskdf...
We're getting sloppy. A lot of SLU possession this period.
Yikes...Scali and Seminoff both down on the ice next to each other after blocking shots.
Did the kids just do the 'you can't score' cheer in the third period when we are only ahead 1-0?
Did the kids just do the 'you can't score' cheer in the third period when we are only ahead 1-0?
The howl of the wolf movie, starring the faithful?
Hardly, but I always thought that cheer was reserved for games that weren't closely fought with a one goal differential between the teams.
Petizian stops Jillson's slapper on a 2-on-1 with Seminoff.
I'm not superstitious. I don't believe in jinx. So I'm gonna say it right now. I smell a shutout for Scrivens tonight.
What do you, do you want to tempt the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing?!
Annnnd another untimely penalty by B. Nash.
SLU powerplay.
Hardly, but I always thought that cheer was reserved for games that weren't closely fought with a one goal differential between the teams.
I don't see a problem with it. There's 5 minutes left and they haven't scored. If they score and tie it, so be it. The crowd shouldn't have to sit on their hands or refrain from anti-SLUt simply because the game is close. I'm sure the SLUt goalie has been called a sieve plenty of times tonight. Doubt anyone takes issue with that.
Hardly, but I always thought that cheer was reserved for games that weren't closely fought with a one goal differential between the teams.
Man, now that reminds me of the ill-fated ECAC playoff series against Clarkson in 2004. We were leading them either 5-0 or 4-0 in game one, down to the last few minutes, and a guy down my row said:
"Hey, you know which cheer we haven't gotten to do in awhile? It's Friday night, and you can't--"
*red light goes off*
"Aaaaaargh!"
And we know how the story of that series ends...
Big save by Scrivens.
SLU to get a 5 on 3.
SLU to get a 5 on 3.
And possibly a 6 on 3 if they pull Petizian.
QuoteIf they score and tie it, so be it. The crowd shouldn't have to sit on their hands or refrain from anti-SLUt simply because the game is close.
Fair enough, I suppose I'm just on edge with the way SLU is all over the offensive zone this period.
Deep Breaths Jeff...
CLEARED YES!!!
Petizian out.
1:13 to go in the game. 1:05 in the penalty. Timeout Cornell.
SCRIVENS SO HOT RIGHT NOW
Scrivens: First Star.
Phenomenal saves by Scrivens there...our best PK'er by far!
SCRIVENS!!! Two huge saves.
:30.6 left
30 secs left.
hand pass on SLU...faceoff in SLU zone. Petizian back in.
And B. Nash with another penalty with 7 secs left.
Game over!
There's the horn!
My lord, the SLUt play-by-play guy is horrible.
"Aaaand..there's a whistle..Did it go in?"
"No, that's the end of the game."
I'm not superstitious. I don't believe in jinx. So I'm gonna say it right now. I smell a shutout for Scrivens tonight.
He called the game action fairly well. But there were too many times when it seemed like he had no idea what was going on -- who got the penalty, who took a timeout, why the whistle was blown, if the puck went in or not, etc -- and needed his color guy to fill him in on what was happening. It made me a listener always unsure as to what was going on, mostly during stoppages.

It's an old tradition that goes back to when SLU fans tied a Mountain Lion to Cornell's goal a few decades ago.

You win. ::banana::
B. Nash as the third star???::wtf::
I am sorry to say I am old enough that I was at that Harvard game where Dave Elenbaas was greeted with the chicken. I offred the program to the Cornell archives last reunion.

Being a Cornell hockey fan means knowing that "greeted with the chicken" isn't a euphemism.
Indeed. We did win that game, by the way.

I would give the third star to either Greening,M.Kennedy or Krueger.
I'm not a B. Nash fan, and when you have 3 of your team's 7 penalties (one of the 7 as too many men), I think you'd have to score a hat trick to be considered a star. Perhaps it was meant to be R. Nash, not B. Nash?
It depends on when- during the intermission, some drunk dudes were sing just "hey baby." During the second, with the band's help, it was Baby, as in the player.
Clearly a 5-min, by the way. 100% textbook. Grossly dirty. M. Kennedy could have gotten very seriously hurt.
Perhaps it was meant to be R. Nash, not B. Nash?
Nope, I distinctly remember the color guy giving it to Brendon and offering some kind of explanation, while I was simply thinking "wtf?"

2. Scrivens
3. Gallagher
That sounds about right.

The way I remember it, some idiots near me started the keys with 4 or so minutes left, which technically fit into the equation since it was a 5-0 lead, but there should be an implicitly obvious rider to that rule that YOU DON'T DO IT DURING A FUCKING SHUTOUT!

Well, all the keys are saying is that you lose. Unless you believe in some weird superstition, that shouldn't say anything about a shutout, shutout or not they still lose. I think we get way too critical about how people cheer. Let's be happy they do it; no one can say that only the people who post here know the correct way. I hate the prolonged die, but that's the way 98% want to do it, so what!
So, I don't see that everything we say is implicitly obvious, and I can still enjoy the game and atmosphere. We still out-cheer the rest, so go and enjoy it.

Wow, a lot of B. Nash hate. I've always been a fan, so take my post how you like. The explanation was "the defense was dominant, and Nash stood out defensively." Just because you took penalties doesn't mean you've played poorly.

Amen. I've never understood the presumption of some that the way they cheer (or used to cheer, during their time on the Hill) is the right way, and the way others choose to support the team and enjoy the Lynah experience is the wrong way.
So someone did a "You can't score" cheer in a one-goal game. Big whoop.
So some folks prolong Dieeeeeeee. Yes it sounds pretty bad, but does it really matter?
So someone jingles keys in a shutout. No harm.
We all still want the same thing...LET'S GO RED!
