Clarkson announcers mentioned him when the team skated out, too.  Good to hear.

If you have the NHL network, they are broadcasting the St. Lawrence @ Colgate game. 0-0 early in the first.

Cornell's forechecking has been great for the whole game.  Clarkson has just 6 SOG through 2 periods, and I don't think the Cornell D had blocked many shots either -- we're just keeping the puck on the correct side of the red line.

Their band at least had one trombone player who tried to get the band to stop playing when Gallagher was done.

Unrelated anyone notice one of the usher's between section A-B manhandle some kid for trying to keep one of the beach balls going? You would've thought the kid was throwing a glass bottle or a grenade into the crowd.

Holy cow! My friend almost felt bad for bringing the beach balls! That kid got absolutely p0wned by the Evil Usher Lady. She was staring holes into the beach balls for minutes until she finally got her hands on one... and it slipped through her fingers. So she grabbed the kid who was next to her and really hadn't done anything wrong and dragged him out of the rink.

Yeah, I saw that from diagonally across the rink. I can see why they might be mad at all the balls reaching the ice, but really, that was gross.

As an aside, I think large balloons are easier to control, they don't seem to go as fast.

Two guys in Section B got pulled out for using a certain word in a song at the start of the 3rd period...
They were given a warning and were told that there has been talk of clearing out Section B (and giving the seats to townies!) because of language used by the Faithful in this particular section.  This coming from perhaps the same Evil Usher Lady who said she's the head of Lynah Rink.
Title: Re: Clarkson 1 at Cornell 4 Final
Post by: Bahnstorm on December 06, 2008, 01:56:25 AM
That kid should seriously file a complaint or something, particularly if he wasn't doing anything. Even with folks who are actually being a-holes you rarely see an usher actually get physical with a student. Imagine if that was his first game or a friend of someone from out of town, talk about leaving a bad impression.
That kid should seriously file a complaint or something,... you rarely see an usher actually get physical with a student.
I am not a lawyer, so take this with the appropriate grain of salt, but I believe an usher making unwanted physical contact with a student would constitute assault. A police officer has the right to physically remove a person from Lynah. An usher has the right to ask a person to leave, or to call a police officer if the person refuses, but does not have the right to touch the person. Again, I could be wrong about this, but this is my understanding.

I didn't see it and have only the accounts here to go by, but I'm going to guess the usher's story is:
"I was trying to stop students from throwing a ball around. I was able to get the ball when an abusive student ripped it from my hands. I removed him for assaulting me."
Maybe she could throw in that he cursed at her or that she felt threatened.
Title: Re: Clarkson 1 at Cornell 4 Final

I'm sure that's what she said. I couldn't tell whether he bumped her to make the ball fall through, or laughed when it did. However, the way she took that kid out was something else.

She turned around, and started pushing him with both hands and turning him around while walking forward.

Said usher placed herself in the middle of A for most of the first period waiting for someone to say some thing offensive. If we made fun of an SLUt player politely, she called us "smartasses." What a great time!

This is what I figured the deal was.  I can imagine someone trying to stop Dragnet with someone on the ice, with similar results.
