2 15:07 Cor M. Kennedy sh 3 (Seminoff 4)
3 14:37 NoDak Hextall pp 5 (Miller 7, Genoway 13)
3 16:37 Cor Greening pp 4 (Barlow 4, B. Nash 2)
SOG were 30-23 Cornell.
Cornell improves to 5-1-2, NoDak 5-8-1.
Evan Barlow named player of the game. Edit: The second Cornell goal is now being given to Greening, which seems like the right call based on the replay.
NoDak 1x8 on the PP, Cornell 1x4 with the shortie.
Great result tonight. Let's go red.
anybody know the line-up switches? i think it's whitney in for berk. are punches and nicholls playing tonight instead of kary and roeszler?
Whitney, Punches, Nicholls in ... Berk, Collins, Kary out
Punches gets tripped, Cornell goes on PP ... I'd give you the time, but Jason apparently doesn't think that's important
Punches gets tripped, Cornell goes on PP ... I'd give you the time, but Jason apparently doesn't think that's important
Came it 12:54 according to livestats.
Gallagher for tripping
Duncan on the PP. 1-0.
Duncan ppg ... 16:41 ... play being reviewed
Should be goalie interference.
no goal
Should be goalie interference.
and it is.
should be an announcement over the PA as to why the goal was disallowed, but none forthcoming
Another dumb penalty.
Taylor Davenport is not having a good weekend.
Davenport needs to be off the PK. What is he doing? Scrivens is shaky.
so what, the goal was disallowed to give a 5x3?
so what, the goal was disallowed to give a 5x3?
The goal was disallowed then the dumb crosschecking by Davenport for 5-3.
so what, the goal was disallowed to give a 5x3?
???
Goal disallowed. PP resumes. Davenport took a dumb penalty before the original minor ended, 5x3.
goal disallowed, no reason given ... then later Davenport took a penalty to create a 5x3
NoDak def has good movement on the PP. Need to stop taking foolish penalties.
Has there ever been a team that needed to take more foolish penalties?
Has there ever been a team that needed to take more foolish penalties?
Yeah... NoDak.
goal disallowed, no reason given
As I said goalie interference.
Well, so far this season, especially this weekend, this is the best skating CU team that I've seen in a long time. If we could stop dumb penalties we would be looking fine.
Joe Devin negates the rest of a Cornell PP.
Elbowing. More dumb penalties.
Michael Kennedy SHG.
Nice time for it. Now we see the wisdom of taking dumb penalties. ;-)
SHORTIE
Heads up play from M.Kennedy to see an opening and take the shot, instead of going for the pass during the 2 on 1. Same from Seminoff to give the puck up to Kennedy instead of dumping the puck in. Good period overall.
It looked like the Kenedy goal was similar to Jillson's goal last night, beating the UND goalie on the short side.
I am really impressed with how easily UND is moving the puck around on the powerplay. I don't recall seeing nearly as many clean passes on powerplays in quite a long time. We --REALLY-- need to not take any more dumb penalties, because we're playing with fire playing these guys a man down.
greening might have been better off passing on his subsequent 2 on 1
Asking for them to tie it up.
Hey Mr. Timekeeper...how much time is left?
10:37 left
Thank you!
10:22.
10:22
one second too late...
tewc
clearly a dive.
Another 5 x 3. It is getting a little too hot in here.
Can't keep committing stupid penalties. Less than 7 left in the game.
5x3 expires...
Nice save Ben
PPs are 15-7 for the weekend.
6:47 left. about 90 sec on a UND 5 x 4.
LGR!
6:13
how many 5 on 3s have there been?
5:33
Dang. Hextall ties it up.
Yup. It got too hot.
Hextall scores to tie it up at 1.
LGR!
god damn, 3 seconds left on the power play
Even-up call. Cornell with a pp.
Penalty on UND.
2 min PP coming up. Hopefully we will get a full 2 min and avoid another dumb penalty.
LGR!
Hopefully we will get a full 2 min
Hopefully, we don't.
finally barlow hits twine and not post!
Barlow!!! PPG!!
3:14 left.

Finally - all that refreshing paid off!

Ok, Barlow showed us the correct way to cut a pp short. ;-)

Timeout NoDak. This is going to be a tough last minute.
Cornell timeout at 37.4
39 seconds, UND pulled the goalie. Face-off at center ice.
2-1 CU Final
It's all over.
Cornell hangs on for the 2-1 win. ::banana::
This is the Cornell team I know and love. Grind out 1 goal wins and that keeps you wringing your hands until the end. :-)
Our kind of game.
I'll take a split on their ice.
Nice resilient win. Makes you feel a little better about the weekend.
Now, lets see the Fighting Sioux light it up for the rest of the season!
Just a quick reminder to anyone who paid the $9.95 for the month of Sioux Sports Network access: the $9.95 renews automatically every month, so you may want to cancel your membership now, while you're thinking about it, unless you plan on watching other Sioux broadcasts, in which case just ignore this.

Did you see the 24 hour pass?

Yeah, that's what I used tonight as well, but some who didn't have NHL access last night bought the month for both games.
I actually had not seen the 24 hour pass, but as Jim pointed out, I would have gone for the month anyway, (assuming 24 hours was more than $4.97) because I watched both games via the Sioux Sports Network,

UND passes only look easy because they're playing on Olympic-size ice surface. So there is more room for them to move the puck around.

Nope, not true.
The games were played on a 200' X 85' surface, just like the one at Lynah.

Yes, it was $5.95 I believe. You found the better deal.

I'd say it is the Bizarro Undefeated Dryden, as eLF is the only place that knows who Cropper is and the only place that keeps talking about the Olympic sheet at the Ralph.

While not attempting to tear the space-time continuum, the Ralph does have an Olympic-sized practice sheet...
To me it looks alot bigger,it could be the camera angle.Behind the net there is alot more room, the neutral zone might be smaller.
To me it looks alot bigger,it could be the camera angle.Behind the net there is alot more room, the neutral zone might be smaller.
I initially thought that too.
When you consider IIHF ice rink dimensions are 200x100 and North American rinks are 200x85, the only difference might be width, not length, and REA certainly isn't any wider. However, there is no mandatory length between the goal line and the end boards in the NCAA, so it's possible there was in fact more space behind the nets, giving the appearance of larger rink size.
Quote from: NCAA Rule Book ChangesRule 1-3 and 1-5. Rink Dimensions. The committee approved:
It is preferred that the goal line be 11 feet from the end boards. Additionally, the preferred size of the offensive zone is 64 feet.
Rationale: The committee believes the NHL standard dimensions are best for NCAA play. However, the committee also realizes the variety in current ice sizes and that some institutions do not control the facility in which they play. Therefore, these are the preferred dimensions, not requirements. USA Hockey also is adopting these preferred dimensions.

Eh I was wrong then, my bad. I heard it here somewhere sometime ago.
But I was watching the CU-NoDak games at the same time as the NHL games (two tvs next to each other) and I really thought that Ralph ice sheet looked bigger than the NHL ice in comparison.
To me it looks alot bigger,it could be the camera angle.Behind the net there is alot more room, the neutral zone might be smaller.
We thought the same thing about it being big ice, just after they'd done the National Anthem. The view from the camera looking across ths ice made it look friggin' wide as hell. Didn't sit well. We immediately thought of that Minnesota game in 2005. Then they went to a shot from above and behind the goal and you could see that it was normal size.
To me it looks alot bigger,it could be the camera angle.
[obligatory]That's what she said![/obligatory]
Also the radius of the corners can vary. Very rounded corners might make the offensive zone look smaller. (It has a lot more effect on dump ins.)
