Poor BU drops 6 spots from #2 to #8 after a sweep at the hands of Justin "My Dad Loves ELynah" Milo and the Catamounts.
Princeton moves up a notch to #7, now with three 1st place votes. And Air Force (Air Force?) hangs onto its lone 1st place vote, moving up to #11. This weekend should tell a lot about the 2 remaining undefeated teams - may one of them, according to its tradition, go down in flames.
LGR!
I don't get the Princeton love, their record isn't any more impressive than ours, are they still living off of the preseason adulation?

I'm starting to look forward to catching part of AFA's Connecticut swing around the new year. They have three at UConn (two in their tourney also "featuring" QU and Merrimack) and one at Yale (which off the top of my head may be the same night as Cornell's game in amherst).

LGR!
I hate sounding like I'm echoing the same argument WCHA and Hockey Least fans use to denigrate ECAC teams, but I'll believe Air Force is for real once they play SOMEONE outside Atlantic Hockey and CHA. How they do in their games against CC and Denver this weekend will probably go a long way towards deciding how they're viewed for the rest of the season, since they've got just four games against WCHA/CCHA/ECAC/HE teams all year long.

They're undefeated and untied. I figure we should give them the benefit of the doubt until they lose. But you're right, this weekend will be telling.

Do we have to explain how polls "work"? Of course they're living off the preseason adulation. They haven't done anything to cause voters to say "geez, the Tigers suck".
On the other hand, they haven't just won - they've dominated. GF-GA is 50-13.
Air Force's strenght of Schedule is ranked 50th. Compared to Cornell with is number one and UND's which is tenth.
Air Force's strenght of Schedule is ranked 50th. Compared to Cornell with is number one
I'm sure by the time Cornell has played 24 of 29 (83%) of its games against ECAC and CHA opponents, its schedule strength will have settled into the mid-to-high thirties. (Although I guess right now they've played 100% of their games against ECAC and CHA opponents. :-))
Here's an assignment for someone enterprising and geeky (and in a Swiss scarf): write a program that projects the final RS schedule strengths at any point in the season based on current results. There will be some variance because of uncertainties in day 2 tourney match-ups -- either punt on those or give a range of values. The X Prize is the esteem of your colleagues and a beer in Albany.
For extra credit, it would be cool to plot the predicted schedule strength as the season progressed -- you'd get a curve that terminated in the "actual" value at the closing bell.

Just like Utah (legit) and Boise State (um...) Sorry about the drift, but I'm hoping for FSU to beat Florida this week, Florida to beat Alabama next week and Missouri to win the Big XII championship. Then we can talk "playoff" for 2013...

I'm with you. This time of year, if I don't have a real favorite, I go for all the underdogs, so the system can be really screwed up.::screwy::::banana::
