I thought I'd start this with a request. A game or so ago, someone started to change the subject heading to update the score. I don't remember who, but thought it was a great way to keep late comers up-to-date.
What do you think? B-] ?
I believe they meant the subject heading of a given post. But if you want to also update this first post with each goal, then people will also know by just looking at the topic list.
I know you noted it when I did it a few games ago, but I certainly can't take credit for the idea....A few other folks had done it, and I just thought it was a good idea. Makes things a lot easier to follow.
Of course, if some people like the "suspense" of checking the message...
So I take it RPI's pre-game consists of awful music (much like Union's intermission reports). ::snore::
Pregame talk at 6:54. Announcers say RPI "has to put the puck on the net tonight."
Jayson Moy's key to RPI victory: "They have to take shots on goal, and some of them have to go in."
Gather that Bell will be playing forward some and Gleed on D according to Adam due to the flu stomach bug that has Marr and Shane under the weather... from pre game; game about to start -
Score by RPI 0-1
RPI 1, Cornell 0, 2:03 Katamocka-something
Well there goes the second half of the season shutout.
Penalty to Downs - Red kill the Power play - -
Is there a chat somewhere?
Red going on the PP.
Crosschecking on RPI...big red on the powerplay.
found the chat info...

RPI kills the penalty. Cornell promptly goes on the powerplay again.
Sounds like Cornell is getting a lot of good chances. Marsters is good -- must keep pressure on him.
RPI folks are really ragging on Marsters on the USCHO Forum. He sure seemed to be tough as a frosh.
RPI goes on the powerplay. Tripping on Bâby.
Baby scores. Tied now at 1-1.
1-1 Baby
1-1
3:02 Cor Bâby 6 (Downs 2)
Cornell going on the PP again.
A nice little scrum...
Baby again, 2-1 PPG
PPG 15:44 Baby (Vesce)
15:44 Cor pp Bâby 7 (Vesce 15)
6th Cornell pp coming up.
Announcers called a hat trick for Baby....
3-1. hat trick Baby?
3-1 Cornell!
15:00 Vesce (Baby, Murray)
nope... vesce gets the tip.
Goal given to Vesce, not Baby. Damn.
they just ejected age from the rink! wtf?
edit: ok they let him back. i wanna hear the story when he gets back.
And Age is kicked out?!?!?!
looks like Age has been ejected?
16:00 Cor pp Vesce 11 (Bâby 18, Murray 14)
Age just got tossed from the building. ::nut::
Age is back:-)
Is the game that boring that we get more play-by-play on the "Age Situation?"
He's back.
Nice to get the updates. I'm here in Europe checking in. Is that correct that it's 4-1 CU now, or is Greg reporting the official scoring of the Vesce tip PPG? I can't get an audio feed where I'm at.
Jordan
OK, I left the room for 3 minutes... what happened with Age? Did the RPI announcers say something about it, or are you guys listening to Adam?
Who threw him out? Noel? ::nut::
Sounds like RPI announcers didn't say anything...Adam talked about it--he said he was distracted by the Cowbell guy getting kicked out and then he said that the Cornell fans welcomed him back to the rink
Adam commented that Age was kicked out and then let back in ...
Age threw his hat on the ice thinking Baby had a hat trick. That may have been the reason he was kicked out - but that's speculation.
Is he still carrying around that same old hat trick hat? I think we've had a few false alarms, but no actual hat tricks in the last few years.
What would you expect from a place with an air horn?::rolleyes::
The score is still 3-1. The goal was given to Vesce, not Bâby.
Yes, we still don't have a hat trick since November, 1998 (David Kozier's first ECAC game, at Harvard).
And anyone who is listening to our feed is very lucky... the RPI intermission reports are perhaps the most boring thing I've ever heard in my life. Last period they read us three polls, and the Pairwise Rankings top to bottom.
... that tells the whole story of Cornell's balanced offense.
Our leaders in career goals (after the second period):
28 Bâby
28 Paolini
28 Vesce
26 Mark McRae
23 Matt McRae
22 Murray
PPG MacDonald
RPI scores... 3-2.
And now RPI to the power play...
"terrible call" says Adam...evening up the Power plays 6 and 6.
Powerplays are now evn at 6 as we will have to survive an even-up call.
PP killed.
Will someone note that it's actually a pian in the butt when somebody puts a score in the initial post, since from then on we all always have to rewrite it? ::nut::
To be fair, RPI's 6th penalty was also an awful call according to Adam, so I guess it's all fair. Cornell kills off the pp. No idea how much tiem left -- maybe about 11:00?
Jesus, 10:50 left about 10 seconds after my post. I gotta get out more...
Under 5 minutes to go.
4 point weekend! :-D
Game. 3-2 win.
Man, the RPI announcers really made me nervous a couple of time there. They get way too excited every time RPI takes a shot.
game over. CU 3-2
Baby scored or assisted on eight of the nine goals in the three tight 3-2 road wins.
Western's sweep of Miami helps.
Vermont 6 at Dartmouth 4
Dartmouth is one heck of a question mark heading down the stretch.
any idea what the idea was behind starting Chabot tonight?
I have no idea...Adam aired an interview with Lenny where Lenny stated that he expected to start every game as long as he was playing well. Interesting that the interview took place during a game that he didn't start. Although I could have sworn that Adam said LENNY stopped that breakaway on the shorthander in the first....oh well. USCHO box score definitely has Chabot playing the first and Lenny coming in at the start of the second.
Pretty sweet that we held them to 15 shots, especially only 4 in the third period!
That can't be right. Lenny played the whole game.
So says the article on the official Cornell website (as it says that Leneveu finished with 13 saves). This is odd.
The RPI announcers seemed to think so. ::uhoh::
What are you guys talking about? According to Adam, LeNeveu played the whole game. Chabot was on the bench, replacing Marr who was ill.
The out of town scores lay to rest any reasonable doubt that it is a two-way race for the RS title. No other ECAC team is better than 2 games over .500, while Harvard and Cornell are both 8 games over.
I want to know what is wrong with Dartmouth. This Green team that has collapsed on consecutive weekends just cannot be the team that outplayed the Big Red back in November.
How do you like the ten second post game show during which they pick the three stars of the game who by definition are the three RIP stars of the game? ::nut:: The post game show is always over before I reach my car! ::yark::
The USCHO box score has Chabot playing in the first period:
Scoring SOG Pen. PP
Cornell 0 3 0 = 3 10 10 4 = 24 6-12 2-6
Rensselaer 1 0 1 = 2 5 4 6 = 15 6-12 1-6
Scoring Summary
First Period
rpi-1 Nick Economakos (Ben Barr) 2:03
Second Period
cor-1 Stephen Bâby (Jeremy Downs) 3:02
cor-2 Stephen Bâby (Ryan Vesce) PPG 14:44
cor-3 Ryan Vesce (Stephen Bâby, Doug Murray) GWG PPG 16:00
Third Period
rpi-2 Kirk MacDonald (Brad Farynuk, Ben Barr) PPG 5:33
Goaltender Saves
cor-1 Dave LeNeveu (40:00 W) 4 5 = 9 (1 GA)
cor-2 Louis Chabot (19:58 N) 4 = 4 (1 GA)
rpi-1 Nathan Marsters (59:08 L) 10 7 4 = 21 (3 GA)
I was at the game. LeNeveu played the entire game(I think).
One other thing I noticed (this being my first game this year) is that our away jerseys now have the players' names on the back. I think this is a change from the past isn't it? Any explanation?
Collegehockeystats lists the same thing as the USCHO box score:
http://www.collegehockeystats.com/0203/boxes/mcorren1.j18
Chabot: 19:58 1 GA 4 Saves
LeNevue: 40:00 1 GA 9 Saves
They have had names on the road jerseys for the past 2 seasons (if my memory serves me correctly) ::nut::
cor-2 Stephen Bâby (Ryan Vesce) PPG 14:44
cor-3 Ryan Vesce (Stephen Bâby, Doug Murray) GWG PPG 16:00
According to the recap, these goals were actually scored at 15:44 and 17:00.
Thought this was an interesting stat. . .with 1 goal and 1 assist tonight (through 85 games) Ryan now has 28 goals and 55 assists on his career. . . 0.98 PPG. :-)
Also with his weekend, Bâby has 99 career points.
I know that we pulled our goalie with 3 secs to play in the 1st.
This may be the reason behind the confusion in the boxscores.
Lenny played the whole game.
lenny played the whole game unless he snuck in the 3rd but i didnt think i was that out of it :-)
Well, something (Dartmouth and Clarkson losses?) has dropped us behind both CC and UND and down to fourth in the PWR rankings as of 11:41pm.:-(
Yeah - and they corrected the box score on USCHO
As of 1:52 am we are back in a tie for second with UND and CC (but we're up based on RPI). Hope this makes Sunday a little bit brighter!:-D
Great weekend. Stop obsessing about the number crunching, everyone. We have a great team, and will take whatever path the NCAA dishes out to us.
Agreed, BRA. Whether we are a hair behind or a hair ahead of CC or NoDak on 1/18 isn't very significant, considering that we've only played about half the season. It's nice to see us ranked high, but wondering what made us slip a place now is a little silly.
Note; this comes from someone who is usually obsessed with the numbers (and admittedly was looking at them earlier :-P )
The obsessing is fun, not work.
Really. ::nut::
