I apologize that I won't be able to update but hope that a free Brown audio link will make up for it: http://www.790thescore.com/article.asp?id=634149 (the pop-up audio link is at the top of the page)
Cornell is currently up 7-0, Brown is driving. I haven't heard the time or quarter.
Another big passing play--52 yards this time--against the Cornell Swiss-cheese secondary puts Brown up 10-7 mid second period.
The Cornell audio feed is very "fuzzy" and full of static, very much like last night's hockey game. Anyone else notice this?
I'm on a different computer and the audio feed is being generated from two different places (Lynah / Brown). The static is very annoying.
Still 10-7 Brown.
Now 13-7 Brown and they're getting the ball at their 45 with two minutes in the half. Cornell unable to move the ball and unable to stop Brown this quarter.
Pick by the Cornell D, and they have just over a minute to work with in the half from the Brown 44 yd. line.

And they go backwards. Nine yards yards total offense in the second period.
Nice drive down to the 19, but we continue with our gimmicky offense and Liuzza fumbles it away.
Now Brown comes right back and is on the Cornell 21 near the end of the 3rd quarter.

I really would like to understand why, with two running backs (Siwula and Barbour) who have had very successful past seasons, we have a completely impotent running game (28 carries for 52 yards today, and awful pass protection to boot). This is the primary reason why Cornell's offense is so inconsistent. Knowles is taking this program nowhere, as far as I can see.

Knowles was a miracle worker for the first three games of the season. Alas, now that we're six games in, it's fortunate we're 3-3 and not 1-5 (the Yale game was a solid win, excepting for the close final score). And the Yale victory seemed sweeter when the Yale we played was the Ivy favorite rather than Yale that got manhandled by Fordham. Sigh.
These are all Knowles' recruits, so it's especially disappointing that we're not seeing progress, but in fact regression.
I don't think it's regression quite yet. Knowles has never shown his teams can win on the road. It seems they go 4-3 or 3-4 depending on the schedule with solid play (especially on defense) at home and embarrassing play on the road.

Number of Ivy wins chronologically under Knowles: 4, 4, 3, 2, 1 (with four more chances, three at home).
Ivy standing chronologically: 3rd, t-4th, t-4th, 7th, ??

Was it really that bad last year? ::idea::
I think they beat Columbia and Dartmouth to get to 3 wins this year. I like that Penn and Princeton are at home and think a split is a decent possibility.
I don't want to come off as a Knowles apologist, but I think it will be difficult for any coach to build success in the Cornell football program now that the financial aid playing field is totally out of whack in the league. It's one thing to woo a few players for whom money is no object to Cornell for basketball or hockey. It's another thing entirely to put together the sheer number of talented players needed to compete in football (especially given the program's not so storied history). If HYP can cherry pick without money being a consideration at all, it's game, set, match.
Finally, looks like 6 of 8 teams are on TV this week:
*Brown at Penn, Noon [VERSUS]
*Columbia at Yale, 12:30 p.m. [YES]
*Harvard at Dartmouth, 12:30 p.m. [NESN]
