Title: [LAX] Cornell - Penn lacrosse photos

First time in years I haven't frozen my butt sitting at Franklin Field. Maybe because most of the time it was November football games. Penn's lacrosse game plan apparently was to contain Max Seibald, which they more or less did (just 2+1 for Max) but Ryan Hurley got himself loose for 5 goals and 2 assists as Cornell built up an 8-0 lead en route to that final 13-5 score and its first win at Franklin Field since 2002.

Some photos of the game are online. Check out:

http://www.billhoward.fototime.com (a commerce site) if you're dying to get high-res images (2000 pixels) but the screenshow isn't as nice as Phanfare.

Looking at pic 16, I can only imagine how many first-period goals we'd have scored if they were using 6' by 6' goals.:-P
Looking at pic 16, I can only imagine how many first-period goals we'd have scored if they were using 6' by 6' goals.:-P
The lens was set to 300-400mm (450-600mm 35mm equivalent) for most of the shots so, from an angle, it does appear the cage is about 3 feet wide. Actually, were the nets 8x8 Penn would have made it a competitive game and they might have pulled away had the nets been 12x12. It felt as if the Penn players had restrung their heads Friday night and maybe were having some issues adjusting.

The other trick the lens played was to make it look as if Franklin Field only had 600 people in attendance leaving around 52,000 empty seats. That and some kind of color shift that had most of the shirts in the stands red not blue and red. I went to Google to check actual capacity (52,593) but was surprised to find this NY Times headline as Googles No. 2 listing, "Changes Will Give Franklin Field Capacity of at Least 60000." It was dated 1921, however.

Hopefully! I didn't see anything in the recap about a Cornell player getting impaled by a stick.
