0-0 at the end of the first period.
Can't say anything more because... I have a fear of the hockey gods.
Lets Go Red!!!
It seemed like a pretty evenly played period. Cornell had some good opportunities on their PP.
The NHLN announcers interviewed Justin Krueger's dad, Ralf (sp), the head coach of the Swiss National team. Coach Krueger had some nice things to say about college hockey and how the mix of hockey and academics is good for making a complete player/person.
For the Lynah Faithful in Europe, the game is available on Slingbox, at least in Switzerland where Justin's Mom is watching. :).
Solid period except for the two penalties taken in the offensive zone.
back on the penalty kill... kill, red, kill!!!!
shoot, sucks takes the lead on a pp goal. (Watters )
Harvard PPG. :-(
Goal scoring changed to Waters (McCafferty with an assist).
Bleah.
Harvard back on the PP.
Patrick Kennedy makes his 2nd visit to the sin bin tonight.
Pelle ppg.... errgghhhh
And, crap, they score to go up 2-0.
Oh shit. Harvard with a PPG.
Short side, squeezed in underneath Scriven's arm (or between arm and the post). Bad goal to give up.
Cornell going on the PP.
A. Biega 2 min for roughing.
Well, Biega off to the box, so our chance to score on a PP.
CK
Scott from Sawada to take it to 2-1
Woohoo.
Scott from Sawada!
Scott!
We want more!!!
TOPHER!!!!
Into a wide open net. Pretty feed from Swada(?)
Harvard sucks and all, but these announcers aren't awful.
They noted that Biega's penalty was just stupid ("It isn't often you see him take such a useless penalty out of anger" or something close).
And, they raved about the beauty of the Sawada to Scott play that lead to our goal. ("Just a perfectly executed pass").
CK
5:00 to go in the 2nd
Krantz 2 min for Holding.
Kill Red Kill!!!
2 periods in the books, i can't say i'm surprised with how this one's going
Not too bad, lots of energy. Defense is playing pretty well, getting in front of a lot of shots.
Really? Cause they keep on talking about some kid on our team I've never heard of..some Topher Scawt? Last I checked it was Scott. Harvard sucks and so does Boston
Can someone post the score?
Harvard 2, Cornell 1 after 2 periods.
2-1 Hahvahd (Sucks!) after 2 LGR!!!
oops beat me too it
17:20 left in the 3rd, still down 2-1
It would have been nice if someone posted the score in the start of the thread and who scored and when. Nice job
sperris::smashfreak::
Well I guess I'm going to a different site. See ya.
"cornell playing very poorly right now, fortunate to only be down 2-1" -whrb caller
We seem to be having some trouble getting the puck out of our zone. We need more shots on Richter.
Just under 12 minutes left.
You can always edit the subject line for individual postings.
LGR!
sustained pressure in the h zone-- 9:38 to go, faceoff coming up
too bad the ref swallowed the whistle there. about 3 penalities vs harvard go uncalled.
Last 2 minutes much better; all in Harvard's zone, Great cycling, but need to finish it with a goal though. ::help::
The Red just needs to connect on one of these shots. They are getting pretty good looks.
that was messy.
Scrivens with a big save to keep it a 1 goal game.
just under 6 minutes left.
Cornell going on the PP!
LGR!
let's go red!!!!!!!!!
minute left on the pp
1st minute of the PP ugly; couldn't get it deep into Harvard's zone.
Second minute looking a bit better. Loose puck in front but we (Gallagher) couldn't find the back of the net.
inability to capitalize... story of the game/season
Harvard back to full strength and they still SUCK. However, they still have the lead, 3:43 left.
LGR!!
Stupid stupid stupid penalty.
2:57 left Cornell going to the box.
M. Kennedy with a slash.
he ignores the blantant trip in front of the net on sawada and then calls a marginal slash when he was behind the play.. for all he knows he hit the stick..
2:45 to go 1:49 left on Red PK.
congratulations to SUCKS for ending our season
the reason i say this is they just scored a ppg
he ignores the blantant trip in front of the net on sawada and then calls a marginal slash when he was behind the play.. for all he knows he hit the stick..
I didn't see the trip, but Kennedy laid a blatant slash on the guy's hand on a breakaway. WTF did he think was gonna happen? It was pointless too because even making contact it didn't help the play in the slightest.
harvard gets crap PP goals and we dont score from 4-5 tries 3 ft away
Pelle score on PP.
Special teams. Special teams.
Harvard with their 3rd PPG.
Guy in front tips it past Scrivens.
This loss stings. It was undisciplined (sp) play.
Can't beat a good team when you take so many penalties. Raises the odds against you.
I thought we skated with Harvard all the way, but spent too much time in the box.
we need 2 x 2003 miracles
Fraser penalty (tripping).
2:23 to go.
Harvard gets called on a penalty.
2:23 left, Scrivens on the bench.
17.5 seconds left, another unproductive PP.
Cornell uses their TO.
some great chances on those last 2 PP and no luck.. maybe we shouldnt work so hard and just throw lazy passes at the net..
Well, at least the band sounds good.
final score H 3-1 C. that does it for 07-08. good night everyone.
Game over, 3-1.
Tough game to lose. The first and third goals felt a bit weak.

How about the second, when Scrivens didn't hold the post? (A la LeNeveu in Buffalo)

Not to mention that second goal, which squirted past Scrivens because he wasn't set against the post.
This was a very winnable game.
Game over. Cornell v. Colgate in the consolation game tomorrow at 4 pm.
A good, hard fought game, unfortunately, not enough bounces in the offensive zone, a bad goal given up by Scrivens and some bad penalties.
Hopefully the returning players will remember how painful this loss is and come back stronger next season.
Thank you Seniors for one more trip to Albany. Remember, there were several times this season where we didn't think this team could win a playoff series, but they won two of them and gave Harvard a good fight.

Agreed. The team that ended the season is a hell of a lot better than the team I saw against RIT and at Lynah East. And I also can't help but go back to the Capital Region road trip, where we really didn't have one good period of play.
Another loss to Harvard in a big game. Sucks has beaten us 6 out of the last 7 times we've played, including 2 games in Albany, and three regular season finales.
Disappointing effort. This team fought its way to Albany, only to flop tonight. I'm sure this isn't how the seniors wanted to go out.

And it appears they are not going away anytime soon. They have a lot of good young talent, and apparently a very strong recruiting class on the way. Schafer will have some work to do, and it remains to be seen if we will have enough overall talent to move back to the very top of the league.
That being said, I think the team achieved about as much as would have been expected, although it always hurts to lose when you get close. Good effort and much better cohesiveness than last year; just disappointing that we could never knock off any of the top teams on our schedule.
Although it won't make me feel much better, it would be nice to see Princeton continue their fairy-tale ride tomorrow. Kalemba made some phenomenal saves against Colgate, and he'll have to continue with that stellar play tomorrow.

The second was very weak. No way a goalie should get beat from that angle (one stride above the goal line). Watching it live, you could see that the immediate deflating effect. Other than that I thought Scrivens played fairly well.
Just not enough quality chances generated against Richter and he made a few big stops at key points.

The first and third goals were deflections where Scrivens was screened at the same time...not much you can do as a goalie to prevent those, so I'm not sure you can call those weak at all. The second...yes, very weak.
