Dale MVP, Wittman also on 1st team, Foote and Gore on 2nd team.

Pretty impressive for Foote considering we didn't really know what to expect out of him. (The rest are impressive too, just in a different way.)
Over on the Women's side, Jeomi Maduka gets Ivy Player-of-the-Year and unanimous 1st Team All-Ivy. Laura Benson and Moina Snyder get Honorable Mention.

That's fantastic: men's AND women's player of the year are both from Cornell.
Does the Ivy League select coaches of the year? I'm guessing not, if we haven't heard about it already.
Congratulations to both programs. I have a good feeling about the women's team this weekend.
There is no award for Ivy coach of the year (from the league), but on our Blog I posted that Steve was nominated for national mid major coach of the year.
Josh,
Not picking a fight with you or anything, but I was telling people on this board about Foote all summer and I was pretty much written off.
I am not here to say, "I told you so" (after all, I picked Cornell for 3rd), but Foote's play was not a surprise to those of us who followed him during the preseason.
And as a big man, he has a huge upside. Another two years of work on his foot-work and he can make himself a Player of the Year candidate.
Pretty scary.
In short, very impressive that he won the award as a reserve.

That's a bit ungenerous. I think the reaction was more a combination of "A 7-footer? Cool!" (I count myself in this group) to "A walk-on 7-footer at St. Bonaventure with zero college experience? Can he play?" (which I remember as Al's reaction, but I could be wrong)
At best, we were excited along with you; at worst, we were waiting to see the kid step on the floor. Now that he is in the rotation, it is clear that he is a gamer.

No, you're exactly right.

CornellFan is probably referring to these comments:

Count me among those who are pleasantly surprised by Jeff's play this year.

My comments on that thread were, "I don't think Foote is going to be much of a contributor. Let him surprise us." Well, he sure as hell surprised me! That kid can really play, and he was an essential component of the team's success. Kudos to him.
Nice article on Jeomi

So Foote has two more years of eligibility because he transferred? He's listed as a junior but that's more like a redshirt junior?
Not picking a fight with you or anything, but I was telling people on this board about Foote all summer and I was pretty much written off.
You absolutely were, and you turned out to have been right. Be that as it may, since he hadn't played any college games we certainly weren't SURE what to expect of him.
Are both juniors academically, but both were red-shirts last season. Accordingly-- the starting 5 of Dale, Wittman, Gore, Tyler and Foote will be eligible together for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
I am not making any predictions, but we have the tools to three-peat.
At the very least, we will be competitive for the next couple of seasons, that at least makes the team fun to watch.
