Huge series in the North Country begins in a few minutes at Appleton.
In pre-game interview on the free broadcast, Marsh says a lot of teams don't play well against Cornell because they get frustrated when they can't get anything going. He attributes SLU's recent success against Cornell to avoiding this kind of frustration.
I got the SLU stream coming off the web. Islanders game coming off the radio in the background. And football on the TV. And I'm probably headed out later to watch the late NFL game.
This coming off of watching the Isles last night and an incredible national chamionship game.
And the best is yet to come with Big Blue tomorrow (and of course capping the night with the Clarkson game).
I'd say it's a good sports weekend ::nut::
Sounds like Kelly Hughes is seeing his first action of the year. Maybe replacing Hornby on the line with Palahicky?
any score?
lgr!
lg jets!:-P
0-0 early. Teams traded abbreviated power plays, and now SLU is a man up again. Marr v. Ackley.
Keep the updates coming, thanks. Appreciate it.
Anyone know why the OCSN play-by-play doesnt work?
Still 0-0.
11 minutes in, each team had one great chance. Knoepfli missed the net with Ackley down behind a pile, then SLU turned the rebound into a breakaway but Marr made the big pad save.
Now Marr makes another pair of great saves on slappers.
Marr apparently making a number of good saves. SLU announcers may be wanting to make their guys look good, too.
1-0 SLU :-/
14:37 SLU Peverley 2 (Clarance)
And Hughes takes a bad penalty--hitting from behind.
It's Hughes' 2nd game of the year. It did sound like a bad penalty to take. SLU has gotten the better of play, with Marr having 3-4 excellent saves. Mark McRae yanks down an SLU player looking for the rebound, but no call thank god.
Bâby with a workmanlike shorthanded try. Cornell returns to full strength, 2 mins to go in the first and the red need to step it up now.
We seem to be picking up the pace a bit.
SLU announcers say they have 16 shots on net already. "Not a typical Cornell period."
Cam Abbott blows past Watson on the right wing and Watson has to pull him down. Cornell pp.
1-1
That's what I like to hear :-)...who got the goal and assists? I'm assuming it was a PP goal?
I thought I heard Vesce mentioned in the background when they were saying who got the assists. We'll have to see the box score.
PP goal. Murray.
Murray from Baby and Vesce.
And I've had no trouble from the OCSN broadcast.
1:30 PP Baby (Vesce, McRae)
Goal:
Baby (Vesce, McRae)
time of the goal 1:30 2nd period
Wow, the forum automatically accents the a on Baby...
Knock on wood, but I really hope Marr gets a win tonight. He deserves it after last weekend. Let's go Red!
LOL. Saints announcers none too pleased with the referees...
Sounds like Mike woke 'em up between periods.
Haven't scored an even-strength goal since WMU.
Saints goal Paverly
2-2
14:02
Damn it, SLU(t) just tied it.
how about the third period goal against maine?
anyone know what the SOG totals are?
LGR
it sounds like Cornell has a big shots on goal advantage for the 2nd period - like 10 or 11 to 1
The late goal against Maine was indeed even strength.
End of 2nd period
I had thought that was an extra-attacker goal, but perhaps not.
After giving up the ENG we put Marr back in, and scored with a 5-on-5. Wonder what would have happened if we hadn't pulled him... (of course hindsight is 20/20...)
Nope. We pulled Marr, Maine scored, we put him back in, we scored, we pulled him again and couldn't score.
SOG were 15 for Cornell and 18 for SLU in the second, if I heard it right. Cornell dominated the first 12 minutes of the 2nd period. Saints came back to live toward the end.
Those shot totals are very inflated. I didn't know this game was played at Houston Field House. ;-)
Adam announces second period shots as 12-11 Cornell. Game shots are 28-27 Cornell.
is the third period underway?
14 mins to go in third, still 2-2.
How dare they say that Baby is not a particularly good skater?
That's Baby with "the little triangle" on the a ::rolleyes::
Wallace scores.
Wallace!
Ben Wallace scored! 3-2 Cornell.
Wallace's goal - assisted by #17 Matt McRae
wow, Wallace and late third period goals - way to go!
10:39 Cor Wallace 2 (Matt McRae 5)
And Cornell goes on pp when SLU trips up Murray.
Hey Jordan, I like the way you put the score in the subject. It's obviously the easiest way to keep a running score. Thanks.
No prob. I figure it makes everything easier.
In other news, Falcons 21- Packers 0. Dominating them up in Lambeau right now.
Good win.
Hopefully puts us back on track.
And on the audio feed, nice presence by the Faithful.
Good, tough win. Nice to see Marr get his first college win. Need another tomorrow.
Well, that was not easy. With Clarkson blowing out Colgate tonight tomorrow's game in Potsdam won't be any easier.
Maybe Clarkson used up their weekend quote tonight.
