With the Cornell Basketball Blog down right now, I guess I'll live blog this one here. Join me if you feel like it.
Dale misses two wide open threes to start the game. He's really struggled with his shot lately.
Cornell 0 for 4 on threes to start the game. Might want to get inside a bit.
Cornell STILL yet to score. Fortunately Dartmouth only has 2. 2-0, 3 minutes in.
First media timeout. 4-4. Cornell with yet another slow start but Dartmouth isn't as good as Brown or Yale, hence the tie rather than an 8-10 pt deficit for Cornell.
You have to believe the shooting will pick up for the Big Red.
13-9 Red.
Barnett with 7 for Dartmouth. Cornell yet to hit a 3 but doing better getting inside of late.
5 team fouls on Dartmouth already.
Dartmouth radio at:
http://nick8.surfernetwork.com/Media/Dartmouth-WDCR.asx
Now 7 team fouls on Dartmouth. 12:20 left and Cornell shooting FTs the rest of the half.
19-9 Cornell at the 11:09 mark. Threes by Reeves and Gore as they continue to be the hot shooters for Cornell. If Wittman, Dale, Reeves and Gore are all on at the same time, look out. That's what it will take for Cornell to have a chance at an upset in the big dance.
First things first though.
Now about 3 consecutive ridiculous calls against Cornell. 19-12.
Princeton up 17-12 halfway through the first.
Wittman and Foote both brick front ends of 1 and 1s. 1-4 early at the line for the nation's best FT shooting team.
Green within 19-16 as Cornell out of synche.
Geez. Wittman and Dale appear to have brought their poor shooting from last week into this week. Thank goodness for Adam Gore.
22-16 Cornell at the under-8 minute timeout.
Ugly game.
Terrible officiating.
Wittman struggling mightily.
24-20 Cornell.
ugh. Cornell looks terrible out there right now.
Brown up 3 at the half.
Really disappointed with Cornell right now. Wittman looks like he is thinking on every play out there. No flow in the Cornell offense. Only Dartmouth's equally poor play is keeping Cornell in the lead.
24-21 CU with under 4 to play first half.
Wittman finally gets one to go- a nice driving layin.
Foote was robbed of a block with a questionable foul call a minute ago.
It's 30-27 Big Red.
Wittman misses another 3, but Dale with a tremendous rebound and bucket at the buzzer (dude is the best rebounded for a guy his size I have ever seen).
32-27 Cornell lead at the buzzer.
Ugly, ugly half but great to see Dale get going there towards the end.
32-27 cornell at halftime, cornell got a 2 at the buzzer after a turnover by dartmouth.
Princeton grabs a 2 pt lead over Brown with 15 minutes to play
Terrific start to half #2 as Dale hits a 3 (he's officially awesome) and Wittman gets a layin in transition.
Livestats hasn't started the 2nd half for me.
41-30 cornell. any word on a brown princeton score?
Wittman has decided to take the ball inside, with great effectiveness as he has 6 in the half.
tough calls on Hartford and Tyler- 3 fouls on both of them.
cornell 47-34...foote was a huge dunk on a fastbreak.
foote's got some speed for a 7footer
Louis Dale is playing awesome ball- scoring, rebounding, dishing.
He just fed Foote for a jam.
ALLEY OOP JAM FROM WITTMAN TO FOOTE. WOW.
wow, foote w/ the alley-oop dunk. cornell up 15 now w/ the ball
per Barry Leonard.
You cannot play better ball than this guy is right now.
any updateson the brown score? i see 48-43 brown 8:43left per espn
that's more recent than anything I've heard. Go Tigers!
ALLEY OOP JAM FROM WITTMAN TO FOOTE. WOW.
Cool. Do we get more points for that?
Hartford bricks a pair of FTs. Cornell is 4-10 on FTs!
bizarre.
Dale, Wittman, Foote= good.
asd
Brown score anyone? We in newman are dying for updates.
don't let 'em back in it.
espn shows 57-45 brown. so looks like its not going to happen tonight.
Louis Dale has 22 pts and 10 rebounds.
It looks like Cornell is going to have to do it the right way- by themselves.
Thanks for the update.
Starters getting a break these last 5 minutes. Should be fresh for tomorrow.
Cornell's spot as #1 in the nation shooting FTs is in trouble as I believe they were 5 for 14 or something tonight- the wrong guys were shooting them.
Brown up by 7 with 31 seconds left.
per Barry Leonard
Brown 64-57 final.
blow a late lead and fall to Dartmouth.
They are tied with Harvard going into the showdown tomorrow. Dartmouth is one game back.
22 pts 11 rebounds 6 assists 2 turnovers.
He probobly won't get Ivy Player of the Year, but he SHOULD.

He probobly won't get Ivy Player of the Year, but he SHOULD.
I'm no expert, but at least for the time that I've been paying close attention it seems like Wittman has been the most effective player on the team.
Wittman was huge in the wins over Penn and Princeton and leads the team in scoring but I think Dale is by far the most important player on the team- he is the only true point guard, runs the show beautifully, gets everyone involved, rebounds unbelievably well and can score when needed.
I think Cornell would be able to cope with losing Wittman better than losing Dale.
I think both should be on the All-Ivy first team along with John Baumann of Columbia and Brown's guard tandem of Mark McAndrew and Damon Huffman.

Cornell clinching a share of the Ivy title is in the top headline stories on the ESPN men's basketball front page.

A few observations from last night... The Foote ally oop was awesome. There were at least 5 people taking video the whole game from the floor that I saw. As someone here suspected, the Brown score was left out of the out-of-town scores all night until the CU game was ending and the score was final. The announcer asked that if the title was clinched that fans should come down to the court but only when directed to do so for the safety of the opposing team and others on the court.

Brown up 46-14 on Penn according to ESPN.com -- Yikes.
Brown up 46-14 on Penn according to ESPN.com -- Yikes.
Making a statement, I suppose.
6 of the best 25 players in the nation?? that sounds like a duke/UNC class right there.

Making a statement, I suppose.
And that statement is: The NIT should take a look at us, because we're not getting into the NCAA Tournament. ::uptosomething::
