Title: Radio issues
Post by: adamw on December 31, 2002, 09:08:28 PM
Just wanted to pass along apologies for the radio transmission troubles this weekend.  It was a highly-anticipated weekend of games, and none of us like to see that happen.

I had a pretty knowledgable in-house tech guy look things over, and he concluded it was his own arena's phone lines that were the issue.  However, since other stations didn't have trouble, I can't rule out it was an equipment issue.

The way the equipment works is, it's essentially a highly-dedicated modem-to-modem connection, that enhances the sound quality so it's better than a regular phone call.  There is also backup equipment that transmits regular "phone-call quality" sound.  I didn't bring the backup gear in order to conserve carry-on space.

Next week, we'll find out if it was equipment trouble, or the TECO Arena phone lines ... but either way, you'll hear the games.

This explanation doesn't change what happened, and I don't blame anyone for being annoyed ... but I figured everyone deserved to know.

Regards,

Adam W.

Thanks.

Adam I think you are doing a great job. I really like your pregame interviews. They are not just fluff, but really get some interesting points. Keep up the good work and I hope you get some more color help to preserve some voice and sanity.

For those who read this before, I edited this. Email me if interested. Everything above was in the original post.
