According to a post on USCHO, Maine's flight to Florida out of Logan Airport was cancelled.
According to the Minnesota TV announcers, Cornell is a "really good team--big, strong, and their goalie, Jimmy Howard, is playing for the US Junior team in the world championships."::rolleyes::
Al, I think I heard the comment that you referred to, and it was something more like, ", and they have a good opportunity to beat Maine since their goaltender Howard is at the WJC." "Their" clearly referring to Maine. That may not be the same thing you heard, or maybe I heard it wrong. None of which proves that the Minn announcers are NOT out to lunch. I can't stand listening to those guys - some of the worst homers in hockey.
Robb, you could very well be right--especially since much of what they said wasn't very coherent. And, if that is what they said, I hope they're right.;-)
You're very right, though, in saying they're the ultimate homers. Wonder what the North Dakota announcers are like...
The NoDak announcers aren't bad, although they are pretty weak on the Brown players' names(except Esdale, who seems to be everywhere).
The Minny announcers were just punch(presumably)-drunk after seeing 7 goals, about 5 of which sounded like Yale mistakes.
Even if the Minnesota announcers were giving Cornell a better chance because of Howard's absence, you would think that they would note that Lenny is at the WJC also - and that Maine has a more experienced backup.
The Fox Sports North infographic listed number of WJC players by conference. For the the ECAC, they had a lonely 1 listed, presumably for Higgins, since they commented on his absence.
I guess they forgot to check the Team Canada roster....
