I think it's a combination of having a competent ref and they don't want to let things get out of hand after last night's extracurriculars.

About halfway through the 3rd and Cornell. Mugford gets a "hitting after the whistle" penalty.

Sounds like it Mugford couldn't hold-up in that the play was at the blue line and called offside.

Colgate has 26 sec on a 5v3.

Timeout Colgate.

FYP.

Very ugly end to this game. Final score was 1-1. In the OT, A ND player got called for hooking and there was a mini-scrum and hitting after the whistle which resulted in 2 minutes in the box for a Gopher.

With just seconds left in the game there was a faceoff and a ND player cross-checks a gopher from behind, and more hitting after the whistle and punching ensue.

Given how "chippy" this game has been, you would think that the refs would just send the teams to the locker room at the end of the game. Nope. In the handshake line one of the Gophers "suckered punch" a Sioux. More fighting players without helmets and gloves.

It will be interesting to see how many players the WCHA DQ for the next game.
