Sweet! Starting off the new year with a 4-point weekend. :-D
Looks like the TV broadcast is being piped in.
It's the Niagara cast. So far very professional.
Looks like they're recording an opening segment. The telecast probably won't start until 7pm.
Time Warner is showing highlights from a Utica-Proctor vs. West Genesee football game earlier this season. I have to assume they'll switch over at 7.
Anyone else have a black screen for the redcast?
Yep.
It's being broadcast on Ch. 11 - WNGS in Western New York. That means anybody with rabbit ears can pick it up. Cool.

Time Warner now on CU vs. NU pregame.
Video now up. CU kills a pp.
Goal, Michael Kennedy!
Is Michael Kennedy hot or what?
announcer: "cornell is an opportunistic team" ...could have fooled me! LGR
4:12 M. Kennedy 5 (Scott, Sawada)
Good looking crowd. I'm surprised that the student sections are as full as they are.
brendan nash got beat on that goal for niagara
Bad defensive breakdown. Two Niagara guys broke clear to the net.
It all started with a bad pass from Krueger.
Niagara is hitting hard and sometimes, not cleanly.
Stupid question: Why 4-on-4? Have they changed the rule on coincidental minors again?
Bad defensive breakdown. Two Niagara guys broke clear to the net.
What about the near Niagara rush about a minute before where some Niagara player made a nearly perfect pass to a Niagara forward behind our D, only to have him bobble it? A better team would have had a breakaway there. Our D needs to wise up.
Kyle
Pagliero leaves the net wide open by falling down, and Gallagher takes advantage.
Gallagher!
Blake Gallager, The Niagara goalie went down way too soon.
If you believe the Niagara announcers, Cornell is actually the team they were two years ago.
Broadcasters complaining the ice at the Niagara goal is slippery!! What?
Hooking on Niagara
this intermission report thing makes me gag... is Cornell honestly that lazy that we can't have our own feed in our own building?
this intermission report thing makes me gag... is Cornell honestly that lazy that we can't have our own feed in our own building?
yes! :-D
NU announcer version of the first period: Niagara outplayed CU but CU got lucky twice
Livestats shows Berk and Davin paired on D. Interesting to have two frosh together.
I didn't think there was anything flukey about the first goal -- it was just a perfect pass by Topher.
Goal 2 was a fluke.
Livestats shows Berk and Davin paired on D. Interesting to have two frosh together.
Schafer's been quoted "after New Years, there are no freshmen."
Good penalty kill, lots of hustle by Mugford
I must say, the Red's neutral zone passing seems a hell of a lot better than it was earlier this season.

Strange that in the game at LynahEast, for two periods the breakout and neutral zone passing was excellent. Tic tac toe and up the ice. Then things seemed to go south.
The last five minutes has looked like a Cornell pp.
The last five minutes has looked like a Cornell pp.
You mean the D has been passing it back and forth at the top of the opponent's zone, and not getting any good shots on goal? ::smashfreak::
Kyle
The Nash/Greening line couldn't get anything together on the second half of the power play...
"Topher Scott, not a big guy..." ::dribble::
Niagara's announcers are whiners.
Nash needs to pass the puck more on the PP
Niagara's announcers are whiners.
royal whiners
It's a close game for it to start to get chippy.
That didn't seem like much of a penalty, but whatever.
Niagara goalie almost made a huge gaffe
Mugford is a BAMF. Damn.
Kyle
Could have been a nice empty net goal...
Niagara tries to score on their own net during delayed penalty call!
Cornell is not being aggressive on the PP kill.
Niagara announcers: You can't fault our goalie when he falls down and the puck goes into the net.
Cornell is not being aggressive on the PP kill.
I was thinking the same -- we were giving the pointmen way too much room. But hey, it worked.
Overall, I like what I see. Niagara is competing better tonight, but we are clearly the stronger team. These one-goal games are tough, as there's obviously no margin for error. Let's get one early in the third and get a little breathing room.
So, the intermission guest (Niagara co-captain -- I missed the name) didn't want to go to Nanaimo for a year or two? :-}
"Cornell has been a tough team to beat in the third period" -- I guess he had a bit too much holiday cheer last weekend and missed the results from Estero.
Cornell pp upcoming. We need it, the Eagles had some momentum.
Scott converts on a rebound; 3-1.
Cornell not clearing the zone. Don't blame Scrivens
Allowing a lot of action right in front of Scrivens tonight.
Still lots of hard hitting.
Bad penalty to take by B Nash 5 on 4
ugh
B. Nash not distinguishing himself tonight.
...and Niagara capitalizes. Tie game.
leads to the tying goal. Given the way the game has gone until the past few minutes, I'm dumbfounded that we are in this predicament.
Brand new hockey game. Ugh.
Niagara PP goal, looks like Scrivens was screened somewhat.
shit
wooo!!! krueger!
Kruger with great effort finally puts one in. Great pressure all around, 4-3 now.
J Kruger!!
Good to see that the team's spirit wasn't broken after Niagara crawled their way back.
classic cornell goal
Lots of good offensive pressure led to the Kruger goal.
Pagliero finally out of the net a full half-minute after he tried to leave; Cornell's forecheck too effective for a while.
Niagara empty net, look for 5-3 Cornell
Niagara empty net, look for 5-3 Cornell
More chicken-counting? Not cool.
Let's head to Troy.
Niagara empty net, look for 5-3 Cornell
final cornell 4 - 3 niagara
See some of you in Troy and Schenectady.
Kyle
Niagara coach: Cornell is the biggest, strongest, fastest team we will play this season.
Unless we make it to the tournament, the Red's only two non-conference victories this season will have been against Niagara. Not that it's any consolation, but Niagara has beaten Sacred Heart, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, and Holy Cross.

That's more than Miami can say...
Nash needs to pass the puck more on the PP
I think R. Nash needs to pass the puck in general... I feel like he's trying to force things too much himself and mostly getting the puck knocked off his stick going into the zone. I thought the same thing of Greening and that makes me worry a bit. It seemed to be the same with Romano last year and I just hope it doesn't end up the same way.

Agree totally. That was certainly true this weekend. It seemed like he was trying to duplicate the Brown rush. However he certainly is far ahead of Romano, and he does play defense, so I'm not worried too much.

If R. Nash were the biggest worry a Cornell hockey fan were to have...
