O'B gets the number 3 spot in top hits for last week. Check it out around the 2:10 mark.
Check out the stats for Moulson vs. the Binghamton Senators this past Saturday night....2 goals, 2 assists, and he scored in the shootout.
http://stats.theahl.com/stats/official-game-report.php?game_id=1004027
Douglas Murray played in his 100th NHL game on Saturday. 0 goals, 9 assists, +20, 112 PIM so far. Way to go Dougie, looking forward to the next 100.
2008 prediction: Iggulden gets his NHL call up within the next month.
How/where is Sasha these days?

2007-08 Hershey Bears AHL 25 0 5 5 26
Don't know if hes been injured or why he only has 25 games....I'll look in to it.
EDIT: From what I can gather on HF, it looks like he was getting scratched a bunch in december but no mention of any injuries. I think the Bears have played 35 games this season and he has played in 25 of them.

I wonder what the greatest number of games played without a goal is (Goalies don't count).
Canadiens vs. Bruins tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 on NESN.

And I bought tickets thinking I was going to get to see O'Byrne play...but then he had to go bust his thumb on someone's skull ;)
Great...now I get to see a bunch of Yale, BC and Goofer alums play.

Look at the bright side. Think of how many of us are envious that you can go to a game at TD Bank North Garden (or is it "Gahden") tonight. I'd love to be there!! But, distance is a bit of a problem. :`-(

The latter part was (mostly) sarcasm ;)
I wonder what the greatest number of games played without a goal is (Goalies don't count).
I assume you're not taking a pot shot at Marc Deschamps and his 75 game goose egg (we love you Marc!).
Re. the NHL, do you mean to start a career or just any period within a career? Aaron Miller went the final 22 games of '04, 56 games of '06, 82 games in '07 and 33 games into this season without scoring for a total of 193 games. This was not at the start of his career. Mike Weaver went 112 games before scoring to kick off his career. I'm sure there are much longer examples than these but I can't think of them.

Not taking a pot shot at anyone. I don't even know who Marc is. I am a big fan of Douglas but I just figure that it is always good to keep your eye on the record book. It sounds like he still has a ways to go. Thanks for the info.
Marc Deschamps played Defense for Cornell from 1989-1992. He was a solid defensive defenseman. Had no goals in 73 games over four years and 19 assists. After graduation playing in the SuHL and ECHL, Marc had 3 goals and 20 assists in his two year pro career.
NHL.com (http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=349739&page=NewsPage&service=page) reports that David McKee has been lent to Grand Rapids of the AHL, form Phoenix of the ECHL. a good promotion, yes?
By the way, why is a team in Phoenix in the East Coast Hockey League?::nut::

By the way, why is a team in Phoenix in the East Coast Hockey League?::nut::
Because the ECHL bought out the WCHL several years back. So they now have Alaska, Idaho, Phoenix, Utah, Victoria, Bakersfield, Fresno, Las Vegas, and Stockton (through a combination of buyouts, expansions, and losing some teams too).
They decided, however, that the name 'ECHL' had built up quite a brand name, so they kept, it, BUT...
QuoteWhat do the letters ECHL stand for?
In a change reflective of the nationwide presence of the ECHL, the East Coast Hockey League changed its name to simply ECHL on May 19, 2003. The leading professional developmental league for the American Hockey and the National Hockey League, ECHL has an identity that is well known within North American hockey circles.
... so it doesn't stand for anything. The league formerly known as the East Coast Hockey League.

McKee's move to the AHL came because of an injury sustained by former Maine goaltender Jimmy Howard (NCAA record-holder for lowest GAA in a season) last Wednesday.
Right. Howard will miss 3 weeks with a broken pinky finger. McKee still has not played. Does anyone expect him to get in a game?
I sure do wish Cam and Chris still were eligible to play with the Big Red. We certainly could some of their goals (as well as intensity) this season!

I came across this "interesting" little highlight video of some of Chris's play from Norway on youtube:

Thanks!
Do the nets look a lot smaller (like street hockey goals)? Also, those "Christmas uniforms" are a bit hard on the eyes.
Only a matter of time before the NHL puts ads in the face-off circles. ::scream::

Yeah Matt! ::burnout::
Here is the link (http://kings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=350788) from the King's website.
Kings play Detroit tonight at 10:30 EST (Sharks v. Chicago also at 10:30).
Any word on when Ryan O'Byrne will be back in action?
This is a little late, but in ECHL action, Mitch Carefoot had 2 goals and Dave McKee stopped 46 of 48 shots in the Phoenix Roadrunners' 4-2 win over the Utah Grizzlies last Saturday, 1/19.
Matt Moulson had two good shots on goal in the first period, a wrister on his first shift and a wrap around on his second shift, each thwarted by Osgood. He's playing left wing on a line with Handzus and Purcell (another recent Manchester call-up).
Matt has an assist in tonight's game v. Anaheim. 3-0 kings with 5 minutes left in the second.
Douglas Murray is playing well for the Sharks in their game v. STL.
Short piece on Moulson from the LA Daily News:

word is that both of them will be back up after the All-Star break
See article sah67 posted...

and here I read that article but completely missed it (or completely forgot about it...) ::blush::
Just saw Iggulden score in the AHL All Star Skills Competition. It's on Fox Sports NY here in the NY area.
The AHL all-star game is being broadcast for free on b2 networks for anyone who wants to watch
Moulson recalled back to the Kings today:
http://ecachockey.com/men/members/cornell/20082901_MoulsonKings
At least he's getting a bunch of frequent flyer miles ;)
Moulson just scored his 4th NHL goal on a chance deflection to tie the Kings 2-2 with the flyers late in the 3rd period.

And on the score sheet! Moulson with a deflect to tie the game at 2 (in Philly, ~ midway through the 3rd period).
Based on the audio feed, he has gotten quite a bit of ice time.
Murray was +3 and recorded an assist on the empty net goal tonight against Edmonton (3-0 win)
Douglas Murray had an assist on Patrick Rissmiller's empty net goal and was +3 over almost 20 minutes of ice time in the Sharks' 3-0 win in Edmonton tonight. He leads the team with a +18 rating on the season after tonight and is one of only 3 Sharks defensemen with a plus rating. Also, after doing a lot of smashing in the first month of the season, Douglas has really cut down on his penalties since then - over the course of November, December and January, he's had just one fighting major and three minors (no penalties at all this month) while seemingly playing in most of San Jose's games.

According to the Kings weppage, he had about 9 mins on ice. From what I could tell from the Flyers' broadcast, most of it seemed to be in the 2nd and 3rd.
His goal was a "right place, right time" goal. He was charging the net, when Visnofsky's shot went off his shoulder.
Unfortunately, the first time I heard Matt's name called, Derian Hatcher was knocking him on his ass behind the Flyers net. ::nut::
He leads the team with a +18 rating on the season after tonight and is one of only 3 Sharks defensemen with a plus rating.
That is also good enough to tie for 9th place in the NHL with Daniel Alfredsson. However, he's going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to catch Nicklas Lidstrom in first place with a +40!
Nicklas Lidstrom in first place with a +40!
He's a system guy.

Those of you living in the Bay Area can meet Douglas in person on Monday February 11th at the Sharks store. (http://sharks.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=351557) If you have a Cornell "Murray" jersey, he might even sign that too. B-]
Oh man, so close to working out for me! I've got tickets to the game on Feb. 14. Of course, my Cornell Murray jersey is already signed, so I guess I'm not really missing out on anything.
For those in the area who aren't on the CAANC mailing list, I believe the CAANC and the U.Chicago club are co-hosting an event at the Sharks-Blackhawks game on Saturday. If I'm remembering the email right, there will be a meet-and-greet with Douglas after the game.

Matt Moulson just scored a garbage goal on a rebound. Kings 1, Isles 0.
Moulson just opened the scoring tonight against the Islanders. Cornell mention as well on the NYI cast.
Moulson denied goal #2 on a breakaway by Dubie.
5 goals in 16 career NHL games for Matt Moulson. I'll buy on those numbers.
