Let's hope the outcome is better for the consolation game than for last night. My friend that's in Estero informed me that Barlow and B. Nash are scratches with J. Devin and Berk replacing them.

Cornell wins shootout 1-0 after 7 rounds.
Very disappointing end to what started as a really good game.
Ben Scrivens in net.
Potter starting in net for 'Tech instead of Leggio.
Potter in net for 'Tech, Leggio scratched.
Scratched or just not starting? I presume he's dressed.
corrected
Cornell on the PP after killing a Clarkson PP
GOAL! M. Kennedy
Kennedy from Scott
LGR!
1-0 Cornell right now, btw.
It's been going on for at least a minute. What BS. They're demoing the various special effects!::nospam::

Idiots!!::cuss::
Patrick Kennedy! 2-0!
Goal! P. Kennedy from Nash and Greening
I sent a complaint by email and they fixed it and quickly sent a reply back. Neat...:-)
Great 1st Period! LGR!
Shots 11-5 Cornell according to the announcers (although LiveStats shows Potter with 10 saves and 2 GA).
Sounded like a pretty decent period for us. How'd it look to those of you watching?
I thought they skated with a lot of fire, handled the puck better than I've seen so far this year, and managed to keep a guy posted on the crease a lot better than in the past. Great diving save by Scrivens toward the end of the period. Hope Clarkson keeps the same sieve in...
I sent a complaint by email and they fixed it and quickly sent a reply back. Neat...:-)
Ditto with mine. They seem OK.
Riley Nash! 3-0!
Riley Nash!
Clarkson defense breaking down badly twice in a row
Assist to Colin Greening (his 2nd today)
Davenport almost made it 4-0
Say Clarkson is 1-8-1 in last 10 games vs Red. I'm not woofing, just repeating what they're saying...
Clarkson defense breaking down badly twice in a row
From what I heard on the radio, so did ours. It's just that Scrivens stopped the puck both times. This team needs a lot more discipline on D, and a lot more creativity and teamwork on offense.
Kyle
Scrivens looks very sharp today. He made several great saves on breakaways during the middle of the period. Also, he looked good on the last penalty kill; so did everyone else on the team. The penalty kill in general looks more conservative with just puck clearing rather than puck possession.
Just tuned in and Clarkson immediately scored. Guess I'd better go now.
Just tuned in and Clarkson immediately scored. Guess I'd better go now.
Good idea. We'll call you when it's safe to come back.;-)
how much time is left? and how are we looking in the third?
6:51 to go
8 minutes to go. Looks like Potter has cramps. Leggio is coming in.
6:30 to go...and unfortunately, I know that because Clarkson just scored. 3-2 now. Damn!
LGR!
Still not safe. 3-2.
We're pooping out in the third period again. This is not the way Cornell is supposed to play.
Clarkson is pressing hard.
We're pooping out in the third period again. This is not the way Cornell is supposed to play.
I thought you were leaving. ;-)
I have no video.:`-(
Al, leave now.

Now it's 3-3 on a shortie for Clarkson. Al, you'd better go.
B2 is not working. Couldn't see the goal.
This is what happens when you play only two periods in the Red-White game.
I hate playing prevent defense, especially in the 3rd period !
I hate playing prevent defense, especially in the 3rd period !
Meaning you'd rather play prevent in the first period?
Scrivens saves our ass on a breakaway in the last seconds. Jeez.

Isn't that what Mike means when he says he wants to "keep it simple" on the road?;-)
An opportunity for the Big Red to step up and show something really big.
Shootout?
Will they send out Nicholls?
Shootout?
Edit: nevermind, things changed and I wasn't listening live :)

Shootout?
No shootout in the third place game. Not needed to determine who advances or a title winner or anything.
Someone gets a 3rd place paperweight. There's a shootout.
Oh okay, that's new then :)
Well, I guess I'm imagining the shootout that's going on.
We are 0 for 3 in the shootout. Just awful.
Nash v Leggio. Nichols v Scrivens.
0 for 4
Why not use Dan Nicholls, who potted two breakaways against Dartmouth?

It took 8 rounds last night for Bucky and Colgate to net one.
Sounds good to me...
Someone please score.
No goals at all through 6 rounds of shootout.
Sawada opens the scoring in the 'top of the 7th', and Scrivens makes the save in the bottom.
The game goes as a tie still in the NCAA records though.
Sawada nets one and Clarkson misses.
Sawada! At last.
We get the paperweight. Whoopee.
::burnout::
Have we ever finished third in this thing? I feel like when we lose day one we always lose day two also.
EDIT: Answered my own question. Dec. '04 lost to BC, beat UMO to finish third.
Two years ago, I never imagined that Cornell would be this mediocre during Topher's senior year. Bleh.
Ben Scrivens stopped 11 of 12 breakaways tonight. Four of five during the game, and then all seven in the shootout.
Cornell was outscored 5-0 in the third period this weekend.
Michael Kennedy was named to the all-tournament team.
UML destroyed Maine 6-0 in the final. Ben Bishop was yanked after 4-0.

Great to hang out (and cheer/sing) with Eli and his dad this weekend. Not great to watch our team dominate Tech in the first, and then blow it in the third. Also of note, two local news stations showed highlights from the tournament with one of them showing the Kennedy brothers' goals from today.

Five breakaways in regulation...in one game?! I recall several breakaways/odd man rushes in the BU game as well.
Being prone to breakaways + mediocre goaltending = ::thud::

If Scrivens had only been mediocre, he wouldn't have still had a shutout 5 minutes into the third period. I couldn't believe the number of breakaways Clarkson had. There was one stretch in which Clarkson had two 1x0 chances within about 30 seconds. Clarkson had another breakaway with four seconds left in regulation. That would have been an awful way to lose.

I'd agree Scrivens was far from mediocre, in fact he was the only thing keep us in this game during a second period in which we got badly outplayed, scoreboard not withstanding.
A rough weekend for Colin Greening... was stoned on several point blank attempts and robbed by Potter on an amazing snap shot in the second. He was also penalized for a Patrick Kennedy slash that the ref seemed to mis attribute. I never would have thought that once the teams most disciplined player would now be leading us in penalty minutes (... and points).
::blush::Famous last words posted pre-Florida tournament on the Clarkson Roundtable: "I'd say if we don't win this thing, it is a major disappointment."::faint::

Is it just me, or can noone else hear the phrase "Bishop was yanked" without laughing like a 12-year-old boy amongst his peers?::laugh::
(Hey, at this point I am looking for anything that makes me laugh)
Ever since he was said to be the "best defensive coach" of 2005, he has been getting his nose rubbed in it. Our teams of late are better at attacking and keeping the other teams off balanced and frustated . SOMETIMES A GOOD OFFENSE IS A GREAT DEFENSE ! And sometimes a team's roster supports a coaching style and other times the coaching style has to adapt and support the skills of the roster !
