Title: Skills challenge?
Post by: sah67 on December 07, 2007, 10:23:52 PM
Anyone go tonight?  Anything to report?  No crazy people surrounding Scrivens, shouting "yours is way more awesome than Burt's!"?

I went for the skills competition, but didn't go ice skating.  It was mostly the guys just fooling around.

Krantz, I think, had the hardest (and least accurate) shot at 86mph.  There was accuracy shooting with one of those plastic covers on the goal with the five holes.  Shooter Tutor I think it's called.  Some guys took shots in the slot on the goalies and then everyone took penalty shots, with the goalies rotating, and if you made your shot you advanced to the next round.

The winner, and probably best breakaway guy on the team as we saw at Dartmouth was...Dan Nicholls!

Did they do fastest skater?  Also, I'm glad to see they at least improved the radar accuracy for hardest shot...I seem to remember Krantz winning last year with something exaggerated along the lines of 106 or 107mph.

I got there a few minutes late, so it's possible they did it and I didn't see, but the ice didn't look chewed up enough for them to have done more than a couple rounds of fastest skater.

As for the radar...Scali sat behind the goal and pointed the gun at it.

From what I remember and could gather from Scrivens as the announcer:

Fastest skater: Greening (although Berk was announced as the winner, but he clearly lost)

Hardest shot: Fontas (reported at 87 vs. Krantz at 86)

Accuracy: Barlow 4/5 pucks in the corners

Slot shooting: M. Kennedy (3/5 goals on DiLeo)

Penalty shootout: Nicholls (3 goals)

Well, it looks like I was a facetimer at the skills competition.  My bad.
