Title: World Juniors
Post by: RichH on December 05, 2007, 11:19:35 AM
The US roster has been released.  17 of 22 players are on a current NCAA roster, but only 3 come from Eastern schools (2 from BU, 1 from UNH).  Minnesota sends four players, Michigan sends three.  Both assistant coaches are from the ECAC: Yale head coach Keith Allain and Harvard assistant coach Patrick Foley.

On the Canadian side, 37 players were invited to selection camp (taking place Dec. 10-14).  Two play collegiately in America, both at Wisconsin.

USA hockey has audiocasts of Team USA's games.  Go to www.usahockey.com for those.

TSN and RDS will broadcast Team Canada's games on tv and the web.  Last year, RDS let people outside of Canada watch the webcasts, until the gold medal game.  If you can't watch a direct feed on www.rds.ca, there are backdoor feeds listed on hockeywebcasts.com.

Edit:  United States 5, Kazakhstan 1 (F)

2nd Edit:  Canada 3, Czech Rep. 0 (F).  RDS.ca's webcast is available only in Canada.

I think the medal rounds will be televised live on NHL Network.  I think that starts somewhere around January 2, and it's channel 244 on Time Warner in Ithaca and 276 on Comcast in Central New Jersey.  If you don't get the package it's on, you should.  You get 6 or 7 sports channels for about 2 dollars per month on that package.

US beat Switzerland 4-2 today (12/28).  I believe they play Russia Saturday.

Pool play just ended.  The United States and Sweden won their pools by going 4-0.  Canada plays Finland in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.  The United States faces the winner of that game in the semifinals on Friday.
