Thanks for setting up the thread. Noce to see the band not gunshy about using the Screw BU cheer.
Spending a lot of time in our own end so far. Also turning over the puck way deep a few times.
Cornell first to put one in the net. Too bad it's Dan Nichols without the puck.
Nicholls slides into the net. Cornell finally getting some sustained pressure, especially with the Mugford, Scott, ? line.
Was about to say our breakout looks better, but then we got stopped twice and it nearly cost us.
Thanks folks!! Technology is working against me :-(
Yup, breakout still sucks.
Is it still in the first period (@8:02PM)? Damned long first period!
Good news, we shut them out.
Bad news, it's scoreless.
First period over, no goals no penalties. Pretty uneventful period, but Scrivens did a good job of keeping us in it. Umass seems to be faster than us.
Is it still in the first period (@8:02PM)? Damned long first period!
Game started at 7:30 b/c of the women's game before it.
Shots were 19-5 UMass in the first period.
Cornell PP coming up and a scrum in the corner. We'll see if we get any extra penalties at the end.
Penalty killed with not much happening.
So far we can neither break out nor hold the puck in the offensive end. Not a good combination.
Anybody else getting frustrated with Sawada's play? He's been missing passes, scoring chances, and certainly is not leading by example.
That whole line has a lot of talent but no coordination. Patrick Kennedy has looked like Riley Nash tonight -- gorgeous skating and good vision. Hopefully it will come together soon.

Unfortunately, the rest of Patrick's line stands around and watches while skates with the puck.
Warning: Livestats is a bit ahead of video.
Never heard the band play "Sweet Child O' Mine before..."::rock::::rock::
Never heard the band play "Sweet Child O' Mine before..."::rock::::rock::
It's a great band rendition. ::deadhorse:: I'm not beating a dead horse... I just like the emoticon.
Shots after 2: 32-12.
"Every shot you DON'T take DOESN'T go in..."::worry::
"Every shot you DON'T take DOESN'T go in..."::worry::
How did this get to be about dating?
what a STUPID penalty
Its Friday night...and we can't score.
Its Friday night...and we can't score.
...and neither can Umass?
Cornell with no goals and still not losing after two? Was this the same D that was at the Garden last week?
Maybe a different opponent O?
Entertaining game. Lotsa mistakes, both sides.
I'd be more "entertained" if the ice weren't so tilted.
No help for Scrivens on that last shift. He has problems, but a great performance tonight.
I guess so... but it's clearly not the same opposing offense.
I've only been able to watch intermittenly, but UMASS has a lot more jump and determination. It seems like a 60 minute powerplay. ::twitch::
Shots 9-1 third period.
Poor icing call there, but lets stop looking for the homerun pass and just skate the puck up ice and take some shots already.
Nice flurry by the Red there.
Real nice shift or two there. I'm really liking having Brendon Nash back.
Nice flurry by the Red there.
Finally.
Now we're getting shots. Cornell's Rope-A-Dope strategy.
Way to follow that up with a terrible breakout if you can even call that a breakout.
"Cornell is really dominating play now ... you gotta wonder if the puck is going to bounce their way." - announcers
Wow, that is a pretty terrible penalty call on the Umass guy for defending his goalie after being slashed on the glove by Kennedy.
Wow, that is a pretty terrible penalty call on the Umass guy for defending his goalie after being slashed on the glove by Kennedy.
Maybe that was for something earlier than that as Gallagher? went to the lockerroom injured.
Anybody else getting frustrated with Sawada's play? He's been missing passes, scoring chances, and certainly is not leading by example.
After that play... YES.
Sawada has to put that one in
Livestats shows Ben with 43 saves so far. 1st star of the game; win, lose, or tie.
You know those mitten keepers for pre-schoolers that keep the mittens close to their parkas? Is there something similar for goalies who rove too far?

You get on that copyright... Ben needs it...
PP for the rest of regulation and the beginning of OT.
OK, guys, steal this one.
Kind of stupid penalty we might take.
1 sec left in UMass end. Pull Scrivens.
Snots were 42-14, now 43-21.
Side note, the linesmen in this game have been pretty terrible. Really late on whistles and out of position several times.
UMass 6th OT of 14 games. First for the Big Red. 1:29 left on Cornell power play. Both 0x3 on PP to date. UMass 43 SOG so far, Cornell 21. Ouch. (All via the announcers.)
Those of us on RedCast missed the pregame show, so I didn't hear if the Devins were scratches or not. I have not heard either one of them mentioned.
I'm glad that defensively we are playing well, but Santa, St. Nick or someone better bring them a decent breakout plan.
LGR!! Get a goal and quickly!
Side note, the linesmen in this game have been pretty terrible. Really late on whistles and out of position several times.
They've been awful--also on icing calls
Ugh
nice pp
We are really clueless in own end.
Video scoreboard says we're in the 4th period
Have I mentioned I love having Brendon Nash back?
Now that was some excellent play in the offensive zone.
I like the Mugford-Gallagher-Scott line
Now that was some excellent play in the offensive zone.
Just takes awhile to get warmed up, I guess.;-)

Yeah, that's what it seemed. Would have been a ridiculous call otherwise.
