Title: Is this guy paying attention to the games?
Post by: scoop85 on November 23, 2007, 12:33:45 PM
While it's nice that the ECAC columnist on USCHO picks us to win tomorrow, his analysis of our recent play (not to mention that he ignores our place in the standings) seems puzzling:

"Hooboy, picking between two struggling programs. I picked BU last week over Harvard on loyalty alone; I'll try reverse-jinxing them this week. 3-2 Big Red."

Not exactly sure why they keep him on staff.  He hasn't manage to say anything insightful in recent memory, and his picks are always based on either lame humor or a rushed attempt to meet a deadline when he doesn't have a clue about either team.

Compared to the Bracketology column, this is Grantland Rice reborn.

A week later and... no improvement.

http://www.uscho.com/news/college-hockey/id,14766/ThisWeekinECACHockeyNov292007.html

And when he does do research, he screws it up.  Consider the following from the article (about ECAC attendance figures):

"It's no surprise that the Lynah Faithful lead the pack; they numbered a good 10,000 strong in NYC last weekend, if not more, and — artificially or not — no one in the nation has a better capacity rate than Cornell's 109.3 percent (nearly 4,200 fans a game in an arena for 3,836)."

When you use attendance figures post-renovation and compare them with capacity pre-renovation, you're going to get a result like that.  And when the website you supposedly work for has the correct capacity for the rink, well...  ::rolleyes::
