Speaking of teams having trouble scoring goals (at least according to Doug Woog and pal), let me introduce the 07-08 Minnesota Gophers (sponsored by the Golden Arches.. yes, way too many golden "M's" on the TV backdrop).
Denver wins 5-1. Frazzee (Sp) is in net for Minnesota and the first goal he let in went right through the 5-hole. Denver scored at least 3 PPGs (I didn't see the 5th goal), including a PPG at the start of the 3rd that made it 4-0.
The Minnesota announcers kept bemoaning the fact that this is (now) the 7th game that the gophers had gone without scoring 5 goals. Okay, I guess this is where my Cornell roots and watching teams that have trouble scoring kick in and I think, wow.. the gopher's hadn't scored 5 goals yet this season? That is weird. (Sorry, I don't memorize box scores from other leagues, I look at them, but they get squeezed out of my head pretty quickly these days). I just checked the scores from Minnesota's games thus far:
12 Fri 1 W 4 - 3 vs Rensselaer (nc)
13 Sat 2 W 4 - 3 vs Michigan (nc)
19 Fri L 1 - 3 at Colorado College
20 Sat L 1 - 2 ot at Colorado College
25 Thu W 3 - 1 Ohio State (nc)
26 Fri W 2 - 1 Ohio State (nc)
27 Sat W 3 - 1 US Under-18 Team (ex)
Coming into tonight, that is 18 goals/7 games.Okay, not great, but they were 4-2. I guess I didn't realize that certain teams truly expect to score 5+ goals on a regular basis. I'm beginning to think that just might take a miracle for our boys to get 5 goals in a game. ::help::
Dartmouth 2 - SLU 1.

Sweet! Take that gophers. (I guess it was Woog's et al, making the Gopher's scoring woes seem like a major tragedy that rubbed me the wrong way).
