In the NYC area, for those who are cable not satellite people, it's nice to see Fox Sports NY picking up the ESPNU feed since Comcast hasn't come to agreement with ESPN Inc.

Agreed. So happy to see that in the release. I might have ended up with a sunburn.

I'm a satellite person (DISH), and my package doesn't include ESPNU.  Nice job, FoxNY.

Oxford, England is relatively close, right?  I don't know how I'll be watching yet, but if there's a way, I'll find it.

You joke, but it was like pulling teeth to find a place to watch the Everblades tourney in 2003; we had to spend $40 roundtrip on cabs to get to a place on the outskirts of town that would show it (though the trip was totally worth it, as we won that year).  Men's lacrosse - even the national semifinals - may not be much easier if you actually want a public venue, as opposed to just watching in your room.

On the other hand, these are on the Deuce, which probably increases your odds.  But I strongly recommend calling places ahead of time instead of just dropping by a Strip sportsbook and hoping for the best.

I'm working in Queens this weekend, but might be able to get to Manhattan by 2:30... is anyone setting up Ship of Fools?

Otherwise I'll just end up watching it at home.  Bigger TV.

No SEC football to compete with this time of the year.  They are on the fourth round of replays of all the spring games.

For Washington, DC folks.

I'll be in Baltimore for the game.  Anyone that cares should be there too!  I'm going with some friends, but if anyone in DC wants to talk to me about carpooling and extra tickets (if I have any), send me a PM.

For folks that want to watch on tv in DC., our watching spot the last 2 weekends has been Ventnor in Adams Morgan.  There may be an e-mail or two about it going out this week to alumni, but I still wouldn't expect a big crowd.

Ventnor Sports Cafe
2411 18th Street NW

Also, for those in B'more, I'm working on the behalf of the Cornell Club of Washington to see what we can organize in B'more pre and post-game.  May just take the form of (meet at X bar after the game).  I'll start a new thread when there's something official.

Well, I think we have the European theater covered...  I'm not sure which is stranger - that 4 of us regulars will be in Europe, or that none of the 5 countries we'll be in overlap.

So I'm gonna be in the Hartford/Springfield area on Sat, and likely Monday too (if we should be so lucky). I can just watch somewhere, but if anyone is planning a gathering in that area, let me know.

I'll be in Baltimore, but I caught the first two rounds at Sliders (http://www.sliderssportsbar.com/locations.asp) in Plainville. There were four or five other Cornellians there this past week and the game was on a big screen both weeks, no guarantee they'll be back with this week's game(s) on a major station. I've also never had trouble having lax or hockey put on at Rookies (http://www.rookiesbar.com/) in Cromwell, though you often have to deal with really crappy bands setting up and making noise in the afternoons. There were UMass fans there last year...
Title: Chicago and Glen Ellyn, IL
Post by: David Harding on May 23, 2007, 11:22:05 PM
Attention Chicago Area Cornell Alumni!

Looking for something to do this holiday weekend?
How about gathering with your fellow Cornell alumni to cheer on the Cornell Men's Lacrosse team in the Final Four of the NCAA tournament?!

The Men's Lacrosse team is currently ranked #1 in the country and undefeated on the season!  Their opponent in this Saturday's semi-final game in Baltimore is the #3-ranked Duke Blue Devils.

Game time is 1:30 pm and the game is being broadcast nationally on ESPN2.

The Cornell Club of Chicago has arranged for two area restaurants to show the game on their big screens so that area alumni can gather to create their own mini-Schoellkopf Field.  One restaurant is located in Chicago and the other Glen Ellyn and both do not have age restrictions during the day.  The restaurants and directions are listed below:

Yak-Zie's Bar and Grill
3710 N. Clark Street
Chicago, Illinois
773.525.9200
Reachable by El (Addison station on the red line is two blocks away), CTA bus, and neighborhood parking Location

The Firkin & Fox
411 N. Main Street
Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137
630.858.4369
Location

RSVP is not necessary for either location.  Should the Big Red win, the final will be held on Monday at noon on ESPN.

Any questions can be directed to Edward Connolly '97 at emc5@cornell.edu.

Well, I won't be making the trip to Baltimore due to personal and family commitments set in place before the season started.  If anybody would like to get together to watch the action in/around Boston, please let me know.  Those going, hopefully you'll have tickets and your seats will be in/around the general Cornell section.

The game is also accessible via ESPN360, the internet portal of the ESPN conglumerate. However, I never used it and do not know if it is accessible from Europe.

And John, if this works, let me know and I'll give you the address where you can send the swiss chocolate :).

Yeah, the ESPN360 thing only works if your ISP has paid ESPN a kickback, which is of course not the case in Europe.  The whole arrangement sucks balls and we should all give ESPN a piece of our minds about it.  (Hello, make this a PPV and we will pay for it, you idiots!)  Time to call my friend with the slingbox!
