I sit down to watch the Winter Games with every intention of just enjoying the events and not caring who wins. Within 15 minutes, I am rooting against every US athlete, even the underdogs, because I am so bored and disgusted by the self-congratulatory idiocy that is NBC coverage. :-(
I can't even bring myself to care about the Olympics anymore. So I don't think it's just you...
I heartily recommend watching the Olympics from another country. The coverage is better and it's easier to root for the Americans because you don't get 'em shoved down your throat.
We all don't live on a border, Rob. :-(
I have seen CBC's coverage, and it's great.
Actually I was thinking of Eurosport. The Olympics may be the only thing they do right.
(And I think you have your Texan Faithful confused.) ;-)
John, Rob, what's the difference. ;-)
John, do the cross-the-border stations make a fuss over the Mexican bobsled team? ::laugh::
Hmm - how can I act offended at Greg without offending John? Oh, what the heck - bite me, Greg!:-P
Ok, what Idiot scheduled the Olympics during the College Hockey Season?
Personally, I enjoyed the Latvia V. Slovakia hockey game last night.
And how about the cross-country skier from Thailand.
All comments tongue-in-cheek, of course.B-]
Did anyone else notice the buxom young lady painted on the left side of the Latvian goalie's helmet? I almost dropped the remote....
I saw that image as well. I was thinking that the tape on the front of his helmet may have been covering up something even more suggestive, but the announcers said it was probably a team logo (it's a no-no apparently to wear a team logo other than your nation's official one; I wonder what the NHL goalies will do with their masks).

I actually enjoyed it, non tongue-in-cheek.
It was an extremely entertaining game to watch....everytime I tried to put my head down and attend to my work, it wasn't happening. Because one team always seemed to have a quality offensive chance.
Sure, not a textbook for defensive technique, but still a cool game to watch.
