Short-handed goal for WMU.
1-0 W. Michigan; shorthanded.
This is good for us. A very rare circumstance, let's see how the boys respond.
I can't get the WMU radio feed to work. I'm using a Mac (OS X), running IE v5.2, and I can't get the Yahoo feed going. Any suggestions from techie types?
No SOG for the Red yet ::twitch::
Murray just crushed someone. I think I heard the hit from here.
I guess that's what we pay him to do....B-]
2-0 WMU.
Giveaway in the defensive zone...

I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys think today's game's final score will be. There is a pattern going (wins the past three games of 4-1, 5-1, 6-1) so a 7-1 win would be cool.
I BLAME THE CHODE!!!
PP to WMU
Baby for high sticking @ 19:25
Have you heard the WMU crowd? After they score a goal, it starts off just like Lynah: count off the goals, WWM, SieveSieveSieve, IIYF IIYF IIYF and then . . . You suck c#@$! You suck c#@$! You suck c#@$!
I'd like to see how Cornell Athletics would react to that.
For some between periods reading. Cornell has made the 'Top 10 Braniac Schools" posted on msn. We're the only Ivy on the list....
http://encarta.msn.com/collegeArticles/NeverStopStudying.asp
2nd period underway, and Cornell has killed off the PP
Woo-Hoo.....Cornell scores.

Interference on Matt McRae
end of the 2nd period
End of 2nd: 2-1 WMU
So, down 2-1, so we see Marr or Chabot for the 3rd? ::nut::

Yankkeeessss Win. Theeeeee Yankeeees Win.
Well, ok, maybe not. But very very nice goal for Wallace. First goal of the year. We have been pressuring them like crazy for the past 3-4 minutes. If we keep this up, hopefully we can sneak another one in.
Just as I was thinking this whole time, "Damn....we really need Ben Wallace to come up big here" :-D
Nice job Ben...LET'S GO RED!
[q]Yankkeeessss Win. Theeeeee Yankeeees Win.

Anyone else having connection problems to eLynah? ::help::
Vesce from Moulson

N. Michigan sweeps Michigan...don't have to worry about them overtaking us in the poll...
Goallllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vesce I think???
goaaaaaaaal!!!!!!!
Yessssssss!
Mouson in OT.
I still like when they kick ass and take no prisoners but this was exciting.
Vesce from Moulson
Cornell 3-2 in OT :-)
It's good to see us win in a situation where we're not up 3-0 after 1. We can play under pressure...
These kinds of games are good every once and a while.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that we won. :-)
Is that the first OT win since the 00-01 season?
[q]It's good to see us win in a situation where we're not up 3-0 after 1. We can play under pressure...

Amen. Gotta be tested at some point...
ha ha, on a side note...

I predict 3-2 WMU over Cornell.
you were just inverted there littleredfan, but way to fight the voodoo gods;-)
I said I'd be happy with a one goal win...and I am.:-))
Thank god for Ryan Vesce.
Sounds like we survived Western Michigan's best game of the year. Great game by both teams -- take the wins and run!
SLU 4-2 over UHN with an ENG!! Good night for the ECAC.B-]
and other ECAC scores: Colgate beats Holy Cross 5-2, and Clarkson falls to Lowell 3-0
from the USCHO recap:
[Q]"Bobby broke the puck out," said Vesce, "and I was yelling at Moulson to drive wide. He drove the net, sent it across, and I was lucky to get a stick on it."[/Q]
I only had time to listen to the first period, but as I left I thought "They only score off of our mistakes. And this team won't make any more mistakes tonight. I'm not worried." Great game guys. On to Florida.
Just back in town after being there last night. So here are some impressions from someone who hadn't seen the team live since Estero '00, though I did watch all five televised tournament games we played last year. First, Paolini, Cook and Hynes all were out with injuries.
It was the first time I'd seen Lenny in goal, and he couldn't be faulted for either goal as both were on defensive giveaways that resulted in guys coming in all alone. We did seem to struggle somewhat clearing the puck in our own end after rebounds, and Lenny seemed to be using his body to block shots more than I expected. The first line Moulson-Vesce-Baby looked great, particularly Vesce who won a lot of face-offs cleanly back to the defensemen. I was real impressed by the Abbott brothers, who were on a line with Hornby. They seemed quick, talented and played well together, generating a lot of chances. Any win is a good win, and the team showed plenty of heart coming back from the deficit and taking over the game.
While the rink seemed only 60-65% full, the WMU fans were active and into the game, albeit not necessarily in the best of taste. They were on the Cornell players after each penalty (e.g. chanting "Hornby swallows) and on the refs a lot, which is probably counter-productive. I thought the ref (Piotrowski) did a real good job. There was a fairly large Cornell contingent, we seemed to have 100-200 there, although the hardcore travelling Faithful group of about a dozen or so (JTW and others) were responsible for most of the noise on our side. The radio was right behind the WMU section, so I know that's probably all you heard on radio.
On a personal note, aside from the victory, I had a great time reminiscing about the good old days with Dick Bertrand.
I had lunch at Coach Bertrand's table in Lake Placid several seasons ago. He was a real gentleman. Does he live out in the Michigan area now?
Dick lives in Grand Rapids and is active in the Cornell Club of West Michigan.
It sounded like "You just suck" to me. (BTW, it was really nice to do the Black Hole and AhhhSEEYA! cheers in their classic forms; one of the advantages of only having about 10 people actively doing cheers.) Of course, there were plenty of "Fuck you Shegos" and "Fuck you Piotrowski" cheers, so the foul language does seem to be tolerated. Although they did turn up the piped-in music to try to drown out a "bullshit" chant.
Since you were there, I'll trust your ears. Sure sounded nastier to me, though.
I was there, but we were on the other side of the ice and down in the corner behind the glass.
Does anyone who is registered at USCHO feel like asking the WMUers what they say?
Well, aside from anything else, there were multiple instances of "Hornby swallows". They really didn't like him.
I saw someone post on USCHO to tell you a bit about our cheers. I'll see if I can help out a bit...
Yes, after a goal, we count off, and do the whole thing that I believe everyone else does in college hockey. We do end with 'you just suck'. Every college team probably will claim that as their own anyways.
Whenever Baby had the puck, we chanted 'Bitch'. We choose one guy each series that will be our bitch, and we chant that.
Sheegos and Pitrowski have routinely called very bad games at Lawson, so they do not get shown any mercy. Pitrowski reffing the playoff games last year against OSU was the WORST I've ever seen.
Indeed, we use a lot of profanity, and most probably, as noted on the USCHO boards, its probably out of lack of creativity.
Any other questions I'll be happy to answer. You guys have a really good team, keep it up!
Thanks B&G. :-D
