Matt Greening? Is he the guy who writes The Seempsons?

Good list, btw.

I like the choice for most loathed referee.  Good job.
Matt Greening? Is he the guy who writes The Seempsons?
You laugh, but that was exactly the cause of the error (since corrected), and why I yelled at him as "Matt" all season.  In passing, Groening rhymes with "complaining."

Cashman: "...every to skate at Lynah"

I'm glad to see Mugford as the winner of the Hornby award.  There were many points during the season, especially during the last few games at SUCKS and vs. Q where my friends and I said to each other, "Wow, Mugford's all over the ice..."  During the final game against Q, he was all over the Q players in their zone, really hounding them and making them earn the clears.

And he had the CLUTCH stop/save behind Scrivens at SUCKS.

Further, when the Q players were celebrating their goal and harassing one of our guys (Topher, maybe??), Tyler got on the ice, dropped his stick on the way to the huddle and got into the mix defending our guy... very Hornby-esque.

Apologies in advance for the obvious thread drift but who the hell was in the middle of that hostile pile and how on earth did we end up with the extra man in the box from that debacle?  It seemed like one of our players was getting mugged while the rest of the team went to the bench and only when the next shift got on the ice did anything happen to resolve a situation the referees were indifferent to.

From what I saw in A, Seminoff bumped into a Q player on the way off and basically got mobbed by celebrating players up against the boards. Gotta love the ref standing 10 feet away and not doing anything to stop it.

Wow, that's an impressively biased interpretation :)

I was watching on All Access and he didn't 'bump' him, he checked him hard into the boards after the goal was scored. However the aftermath worked out, it was an inappropriate, late hit.

Well to be fair, I don't have all access and I didn't see that hit (but that explains the situation much better). Even so, it should not take a ref that long to even notice that something was going on. Our players skated off the ice and then four more skated back from the bench to go help Seminoff out before any of the officials even tried to pull them apart. Was it deserved? For a late hit, probably. Should it have been allowed? Definitely not.

Speaking of Cashman, what gives with him not even making the Hobey Top 10, let alone the hat Trick?

What do we see in him that others don't?

People who know very little about college hockey and only have exposure to some of the teams make the decisions.  The Hobey thus loses a lot of its luster.

He made the 10-finalist pool in 2005 as a sophomore, and I certainly think he was more polished this year (limited first hand observation).  Back then, Q faced mostly AHA competition, so his PPG are down in the ECAC, but he was still the national leader in points for D-men.

Maybe Q didn't market him well, or voters felt that Cashman's numbers were a result of the presence of Wong.

Maybe there's an age-limit to Hobey Candidacy. :-D
