As the winter season concludes, it does not look like we are going to get the total of eight championships that we captured last year-- unless we sweep spring track, win men's lax and sneak in another title elsewhere (i.e. baseball, softball).
Thus far...
Women's Volleyball-Ivy Champs
Women's Indoor Track-Hep Champs
Men's Indoor Track-IC4A Champs
Wrestling-Ivy and ECAC Champs, Final #7 Natl Rank USA Today, 12th Placa NCAA Championships

EIWA (Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association), not ECAC.
Thanks for catching that...
Formerly the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association League but recently shortened after a year-long study.

But did they change the logo?
Five titles and counting.....
Men's Lax Ivy Champs
Women's Volleyball-Ivy Champs

Might be worth adding the gymnastics individual national title: http://cornellbigred.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/recaps/042207aaa.html
There is no Ivy title to claim and I have no idea what the USAG National Title is. The NCAA championships are still to come next week and I don't think there are any Cornellians invited.
Last year we had a school best 8 titles.
I don't think we can match it this year-- but with a sweep of outdoor track, we can bring in a total of 7 titles, which is pretty damn good, although we've been spoiled the last two years. Unfortunately, it does not look like baseball or softball are going to come through for us to break a school record.
With respect to missed opportunities--- the hockey team was ohhhhh so close to that Ivy title. But as we all know, they choked. And the men's indoor track team, which incredibly won the difficult IC4As, got edged out at the less competitive Heps by Princeton. Too bad. This could've been a year of 9 or more titles.
I'll trade a couple of those titles for a win in Baltimore on May 28.
How many are there total and how do we match up to the others?
I think Cornell finished second in the Ivy in the number of team titles both in 2004-2006 and in 2005-2006.
Not counting this year, here is the championship count. Should be accurate.
Men - 18 Sports
Cornell: 122
Princeton: 216
Penn: 122
Columbia: 62
Dartmouth: 71
Yale: 104
Harvard: 222
Brown: 43
Women - 17 Sports
Cornell: 46
Princeton: 128
Penn: 47
Yale: 53
Harvard: 91
Brown: 66
Dartmouth: 49
Columbia: 10
Yale will always be first in gentlemanly club life.

I assume you mean that Cornell fields 18 and 17 teams in men's and women's sports respectively? Or are their 18 and 17 sports for men and women respectively in which all eight Ivies compete?
'cause if it's the former, this is not the most accurate metric, since not all eight Ivies offer the same sports. Columbia doesn't have men's lacrosse, Columbia and Penn don't have men's ice hockey, etc. I'd be curious to see a breakdown of Ivy titles in only the sports that all eight Ivies ofer.
If on the other hand it's the latter, then it doesn't include our dozens of men's hockey and men's lacrosse titles, so 122 actually doesn't look so bad. :-)
It's the latter. Men's gymnastics only lasted from '68-'72. Those championships were counted and that sport is one of the 18, so I guess 17 current active championships. In fact, Cornell won all but 4 of the gymnastics titles. The three sports Cornell has no titles in (on the men's side) are squash, swimming, and tennis, but last I checked, Cornell competes in them.
What sports do we not field a team in? Men's volleyball...? What else?

Men's fencing (no men's or women's team from Dartmouth either).
Women's golf. Is there a men's title in field hockey?

(Maybe you mean all but 4 of men and women's, but that wouldn't be as funny.)
Bah. That should have been '68-'82
Oh, here. Just see for yourselves.
