Not like anyone REALLY cares, but...

I care. It's ugly.
Meh. I still miss the torch.
So now we're no longer the ECAC, or even the ECACHL, but ECACH?
And it took a year to drop the word "League" and add richer and deeper toned color?
too much red and white.
And where's a touch of Green and Gold? :-D

You get a chance to add a touch of green and gold tonight. Good luck.
The logo looks even more USA American than ever before. More generic. The torch was nice, a modest tribute to the idea of scholarship, light, warmth, whatever.
If it's back to ECAC Hockey from ECAC Hockey League, good. About time.
Agreed about ECAC hockey and on the torch!
"We're the best in the ECACH!"
My favorite part was how the article points out, as suggested by the new logo, that the conference will now be known simply as ECAC Hockey. Then the marketing head cheese that supposedly worked on this for year proceeded to call it "the ECAC Hockey League".
I care. It's ugly.
It's boring and the aspect ratio looks messed up.
The torch was great, but with Colgate shifting to scholies and Q being admitted, I guess we're no longer interested in amateurism.
Which is fine; can we offer scholarships, yet, or do we have to wait for tuition to top $50k/year?
ECACH IJKLMNOP ::crazy::

(Note in this article there is a promise to improve officiating.)
Great find - thanks for sharing. The wonders of the net continue to amaze me (even as it sucks up enormous amounts of time when I should be doing other things **])
Which is fine; can we offer scholarships, yet, or do we have to wait for tuition to top $50k/year?
You don't? I have read so many reports about your recruits stating that they received them. ;-)
Back closer to being on topic, does anyone know if the complete name is "Eastern College Athletic Conference Hockey" or is the abbreviation "ECAC" officially part of the name? I don't see it spelled out on http://www.ecachockeyleague.com/.
Further off topic again, at least three more years in Albany http://www.ecachockeyleague.com/news/men/albany_03-17.
I wonder how much they (over)paid for this bit of marketing. Hopefully not near Cornell's red box debacle.

They got that in writing, right?

LOL, Will wins :)
I'm soooo unimpressed.
Further proof that it is an 'urban myth' that NYC marketing firms are groundbreaking.
Tell me that the ECAC could not have gotten something more memorable and exciting by hosting a logo competition among students of it's member schools??????
I know that expensive new logo is really going to excite the public to stand in long cold lines for tickets at next year's ECACHL-fragilistic league tournament !
Am I just a crab, or am i still Po'd and disappointed that the Big Red missed this year's tourney and path to my World series winning baseball team's home city --- St. Louis !!!!
Go Cardinals!!!!! Repeat in '07 !!!
Uuuugly! Uuuuugly! Uuuugly!
Better than the previous logo but not as good as the one with the torch.
Am I the only one who thinks the old torch logo looks somewhat antiquated and just not appealing? Though I wouldn't mind a new logo that incorporated a torch graphic.

(Oddly enough, I went to Google Image Search to find this and it found me an image hosted on ELynah.)
I see what you mean - it doesn't look polished, though that might be the image resolution as much as anything. I'm not sure why fire is represented as yellow and black. I think it could be updated without departing from the general idea, though.
Oh, also it's too much green and gold. :-P
Why not ECHA?
When did the ring logo originally debut? I kinda like it, just because its what I'm used to. I haven't seen that green & gold torch logo in about a decade.
Why not ECHA?
A) There already is an ECHA (http://www.echahockey.com/).
B) When you've been around for as long as the ECAC, you probably don't want to depart from a consistent theme. (Unless you're Gary fucking Bettman. ::bang:: )

99-00 season.
That year Cornell (at least) wore opposite color patches with the new logo (white patch on red uni, red patch on white uni). After that they wore matching patches. Starting I believe with the Nike sweaters, the logo has been embroidered directly.
This new logo belongs in the same trash bin as huggy bear...

They have shootouts. That doesn't count as hockey. I'm pretty sure if the ECAC sued for the name, they'd win on that rationale alone.

Maybe they should just change their name to the NHL then.
I assume you found it at eLynah because I had the ECAC logo on every page of the UCHS (now "News Archives"). Now you mostly get the alt text box because the links are broken.
Also, I assume the flame uses black rather than orange or red because those colors would look awful next to the green box.
I personally like the torch logo, though I can't say I have strong feelings about the new one. Huggy Bear stupid it's not. I do hate it when they go for "a modern feel" in logos. That's usually synonomous with "ugly crap". Stick with the traditional for sports logos.

I'm not certain these are mutually exclusive.
