Title: SLU 5 v. Dartmouth 3 (final) 3/17/07
Post by: Rita on March 17, 2007, 04:54:42 PM
No score, about 2 minutes left in the 1st.

Nick Johnson scored the 1st Dartmouth goal.

And about 2 minutes into the 2nd period, Dartmouth gets another, on the PP I believe.

6:47 2nd period (?) SLU finally scores, possibly off a Dartmouth player.

26 seconds later, SLU (McKenzie) scores again.

Dartmouth regains the lead and SLU (Cunningham) ties it right back up.

SLU gets 2 goals in the 3rd, one of them an ENG. This win puts SLU in the NC$$ tourney, according to their announcers.  I'll leave it to someone else to run the latest version of YATC :).
==========

I'll keep the subject line updated, but I'm in "poster making land" and having too much fun with powerpoint to be paying close attention to the game.

Dartmouth scores after a bad SLU turnover right in front of Petizian.

EDIT: Nick Johnson scored the Dartmouth goal.

Joe Marsh being interviewed sounds like an episode of the Sopranos.

Man, SLU really doesn't want to play anymore, huh?

Nah, they just needed a good 4 periods to get warmed up ::screwy::. SLU just tied it up at 2.

5-3 SLU and their announcers declare a bid for the team.

Dartmouth and Denver are now out.

edit: And apparently UMass is in.

edit 2: Or not:
Quote from: UMass is still teetering too. It needs Army to beat Air Force, or Minnesota to defeat North Dakota.

I'm happy for UMass. Not only are we family friends with Toot but it wouldn't seem right if Maine made it in and UMass missed it after a 4 game sweep.

I saw this, but I don't understand. I see UMass as 14, which means a QU upset would be needed for them to 'teeter'. No? (note: I definitely agree that Army and Minn can help them, but it seems they'd need all *3* things to go wrong to be knocked out).

I just ran it with Air Force and North Dakota winning (and Q, ND, and UNH).
UMass ends up in three way tie for 12th with Maine and Miami and UMass has the lowest RPI.  And I used .003 as the bonus.

edit: yes, it would seem to me as well that all UMass needs is Clarkson to beat Q.

Right. 3-way for 12 = 14. But you said Q winning. If Q didn't win, they'd be in as the last at-large.

So, UMass would need Army or Minn... OR Clarkson.

You're right.  If Clarkson wins, UMass is definitely in.

I guess the point is that if Army or Minnesota win UMass doesn't have to worry about Quinnipiac because they would be off the bubble.  Then it becomes a SEP (Somebody Else's Problem). Miami's?

True. But if Clarkson wins, then UMass doesnt need to worry about Army or Minnesota. Right? :)

I see what you're saying - in as far as Army and Minn move UMass around, while Q just raises the bar higher. But all in all, its the same thing.

Yes, although the Army game has already started (scoreless in the 1st) so if Army were to win Miami has to worry about the ECACHL game.

If Clarkson wins then everything else is just about seeding.  Miami, UMass and Maine are all in.

Well if QU wins Adam knows that 3 ECAC teams get in, so maybe he was just assuming Clarkson would lose for the best case ECAC scenario. ;-)

If Clarkson loses they won't be in Rochester.  I think they can fall to 6th under some of the scenarios I ran.  Of course, avoiding intraconference matchups could change where they end up if they're not a one seed.

I emailed Adam. So, he is... vicariously :)

And I believe I found Clarkson as a 7 in one scenario, but that may've been before some of the consy results were in.
