"Sam Paolini '03

Agriculture and Life Sciences

AEM

A dynamic and well-known member of the Cornell Men's Hockey Team, Sam Paolini has used his position on the Big Red's winning team to the benefit of the community. Paolini developed Special Population Skate, a program that allows children and adults with disabilities to get involved in ice skating. The program takes place each Sunday with the help of Paolini's teammates and the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Similarly, Paolini started Power Play for Prevention, a program that benefits the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance (IBCA). For every goal scored by the Big Red on a power play, Tompkins Trust Company donates $100 to IBCA. Paolini would like to continue playing hockey for as long as possible and perhaps eventually go into business."

Isn't there a Hockey Humanitarian award given out at the Frozen Four each year?  How do the players get nominated?
