Here's hoping Cornell can tie it up and get it to OT. The marathon PK session (also known as the 2nd and 3rd periods) have been quite nerve-wracking.
I'm glad the "little Red" came out victorious.
LGR!!

What a sad sentence. 7 periods of hockey followed by a skills competition. Still, a win is a win. Let's go Litte Red.
Ithaca High School won the NYS Ice Hockey Championship 2-1 over Williamsville, North. Sean Seyler scored with 3 minutes, 30 seconds left in the second overtime for the win. IHS last won the State Championship in 2000.

Pretty solid defense by the Little Red in the Final Four: One goal surrendered in 2 games, 5+ overtime periods, and a shootout. Freshman Andy Iles was named 2nd-team All-State goalie. His regular season line: 23 games, 9 shutouts, 0.93 gaa, and a .96 save %. For the championship weekend, a 0.35 gaa, and a .98 save %. That's 2nd-team...
From the game program: In the 2000 championship, Ithaca's Matt Caren put the game away with a natural hat trick (in 46 seconds) before the game was 4 minutes old. LA King, Dustin Brown was on that team -- I think Matt Hedge was on that team as well.
Matt Caren appeared in SI "Faces in the Crowd" as a result of that hat trick -- still the fastest hat trick in NYS high school hockey history I believe.
