Title: NHL Concussion Rules
Post by: Cactus12 on February 22, 2007, 01:33:30 AM
Does anyone know if the NHL or NHLPA has a rule regarding return from a concussion (minimum time, physical exam, etc.)? I know a team will not rush back players, but was wondering if there's an official policy.

(I think someone mentioned such a rule following Carefoot's injury)

Following up my own question (if anyone's interested)

"The league has no rules about how long to keep players out of action, but teams have adopted guidelines that include players' being symptom free for five days before they are allowed to return to the ice. Teams are required to conduct neurological tests on all their players before the season to provide baseline scores to measure players' return to normal after they are injured. Teams also must report head injuries to the league office."
