Barlow from Topher with the man advantage

3 16:50 Cor Greening 9 (Sawada 9)

Davenport just stoned Wong on a pp chance.
Good luck, CTUCK1. Bring home a W.
Thank goodness somebody finally started the game thread. I thought everybody had been scared off.
Thank goodness somebody finally started the game thread. I thought everybody had been scared off.
Those game thread statistics are kinda scary. It's good that someone new started since there has been luck with that.
End of 1
This is the 1st home game I've missed -- I have bronchitis & pink eye (double -ouch!). I don't know what I'm doing. My son (redhair34) called from the game -- I told him I started the game thread and he flipped out. I'm not trying to jinx anything, but FWIW I'll be at Lynah tomorrow night for sure.
Cornell played very well in the second half of the first period (I missed the first ten minutes). The period immediately after the goal, and the kill, they were flying. They need to keep that up -- Q's good.
I don't know what I'm doing.
Sure you do, you updated the score. Just include the period and copy-paste the goal calls into the lead post, and you're a professional.
I think CSTV is breaking in a new camera guy. First minute of the second period, the camera was moving but the puck was never in frame.
Seemed fine in the 1st. He musta went somewhere, did something @ intermission
B-ball up by 11 at the half.
Clarkson 2-1 over UC
DC and Brown 1-1
SLU and RPI 1-1
Cornell hoops leads Princeton by 11 at the half.
Penn leads Columbia by 9 at the half.
Yale is LOSING to Dartmouth by 7 at the half.
Man, Colin Greening rocks. He knocks Cashman off the puck and then draws the penalty on the backcheck. He just undressed the best player in the conference.
Last year I called up to the Clippers office to order some hats. Bestwick answered the phone, we went through all the Clippers/Cornell alums, etc., etc. Then he says: "Wait 'till you see this Greening kid; one of the best players I've ever sent to Schafer."
GETTIN' CHIPPY!!
Three gorgeous saves by Davenport on Wong so far, all point blank.
Davenport 3 Wong 0
GETTIN' CHIPPY!!
Hopefully we can keep our heads. Davenport seems to be coming up big. I like it!::dribble:: Greening does rock btw! Kid never quits.
The Red pp looks great with Salmela/Barlow out there.
Generally speaking, there have been long stretches of this game in which Cornell had five underclassmen on the ice, all buzzing and looking very aggressive. Kinda scary, but exciting.
Anyone know why Quinnipiac University would come up on my caller ID? I am on their radio station, maybe thats why?
Anyone know why Quinnipiac University would come up on my caller ID? I am on their radio station, maybe thats why?
Well, if you were a goalie, I'd be tempted to say your Mom called... ::uptosomething::
8 minutes into the second cornell and princeton have scored a whopping 7 points each. Red still up 11.
SLU 3 RPI 2 after 2
Clarkson 5 Union 2
Princeton 2 Colgate 0 end 2

Not to sharpshoot Bill Bestwick (please, Bill, don't stop sending us great players), but he didn't send Greening to Schafer, Cornell recruited Colin out of Upper Canada College and then recommended he head to Nanaimo for a year of seasoning in juniors. Same thing Schafer did with the Devin twins this year.
Ok, poetic license on my part....
Princeton's cut the lead to 6; Penn still up by 10
Princeton's cut the lead to 6; Penn still up by 10
Cornell by seven, under 3:24. Naeve just fouled out.
Yale at the line with 8 seconds to go, up 4.
Yale survives the Dartmouth challenge and Penn is cruising. Up to the Red to keep pace now.

Didn't Schafer really send Greening to Bestwick? Cornell had a commitment from Greening before he went west.
Shots 6-1 Q in 3rd period
RPI ties up SLU 3-3 late 3rd
Great sequence from Davenport!! LGR!!
Mugford checked over the boards and into the Q bench.
Solid games by our Minnesota boys (Wittman and Davenport). B-ball wins. Let's hold on here.
First three game win streak at PU in 59 years.
GREENING!!!!!!!
Nice play by Colin!!!
Greening!!! Yes!!! LGR!!!
3 16:50 Cor Greening 9 (Sawada 9)
Was that two replays I just watched?
I wish CTUCK could start the game thread tomorrow. BIG win!
Wouldn't you know? Ari writes his dissertation and we come this close to a 1-0 game.:-}
Was that two replays I just watched?
Yep. ::popcorn::
Wrestling beat Harvard 35-9
Women make it a sweep wtih a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Qunnipiac tonight so Cornell hockey undefeated at their new rink.
Wouldn't you know? Ari writes his dissertation and we come this close to a 1-0 game.:-}
I was prepared to give Ari one of the three stars for that... I guess we'll have to settle for Greening instead. ::banana::

wow, that;s a real trick undressing the best player in the league tonight. I thought Nick Dodge was playing at Cheel tonight

It must have been Erik Cole in that 32 clarkson jersey...
Or a goon.

Dodge is a fine player -- I'd kill to have him. Cashman ought to be in the Hobey hat trick in April -- he's on a categorically different level from everybody else in the ECAC. Watch the guy play -- he's a freak.

I know... cashman is a freak. But from my limited exposure to his play, it doesn;t look like he raise his teammates level of play the way Dodge does... Cashman just seems to skate around with Wong while the other skating deerticks watch...
Cashman just seems to skate around with Wong while the other skating deerticks watch...
It will be interesting to see what happens to Wong's numbers next year when he doesn't have Cashman feeding him perfect set-up after perfect set-up. Wong is very good, no question, but good God even I might be able to score if I was getting served up perfect feather passes through three defenders by a guy skating backwards in high heels.
Remember what happened to J. C. Ruid after the Keebler Elves left UVM.

1997 was the Elves' senior year. Unless you're suddenly using a different numbering system for the years?

You're right, and that's extremely weird. I had always assumed, up until three minutes ago, that Ruid went in the toilet because he lost his linemates.
Well, I suppose he might have been taken off their line as a senior, but why?
Somehwere, someone with a better memory than mine will know. I looked up the Elves, and St. Louis dropped 20 assists between his junior and senior seasons. Now I'm completely confused.

Yeah, I can't recall exactly what happened, either. In 1996, Perrin/St. Louis/Ruid put up 87-138-225 and then in 1997 they dropped to 58-92-150. Perhaps it's not a coincidence that Ruid dropped 21 goals and Perrin and St. Louis dropped 23 and 20 assists - maybe Ruid wasn't playing with them that season, which would prove your point as well.
Maybe the elves were only that good because they were feeding Ruid... ::laugh::

Were Frey and Nickerson just resting up, or out with injuries?

Jerry Rinaldi is still on the team and currently the #3 ranked wrestler in the country at 197. As a junior he made it to the NCAA finals at that weight.

I don't know but, based on circumstantial evidence, I'd say that Frey has an injury and Nickerson was being rested.
In Frey's last match, against Penn last week, he was pinned by the #1 wrestler in the country. He was then held out of the evening match against Princeton and yesterday's match against Harvard, which led off the contest. In his substitute matches, Nick Bridge won by forfeit against Princeton and pinned his opponent from Harvard.
As for Nickerson, 125 was the last weight class to wrestle yesterday. By the time Nickerson would have taken the mat, Cornell had an insurmountable lead. Based on the match result (22-5), Rodriguez was much better than the Harvard wrestler anyway.
I don't think Frey or Nickerson even made the trip to New England.
Rinaldi, by the way, won a 15-0 technical fall in the first period today against the kid from Brown.
