Title: Gallagher: Rookie of the week!
Post by: sah67 on February 13, 2007, 03:47:40 AM
After being snubbed by the ECAC weekly honors for the entire season, we finally bring one home with Blake Gallagher named as ECAC Rookie of the Week for the week of 2/12.  Gallagher had a 4-point weekend, even if the team couldn't squeak one out, with a goal at Union, and 3 assists at RPI  on his birthday (interestingly...all on freshmen goals...not that I would want to pass the puck to Bitz or McCutcheon either).

As others have noted, it was a great weekend for Big Red Freshmen, who scored  11 out of the team's 23 points and 5 of the 9 goals on the weekend (6 of the 10 if you count Romano's disallowed goal).

Congrats AND happy birthday to Blake!

So this augers [edit: augurs (sorry)] well for ... the rest of this season ... or for next season? Let's hope the freshmen really are starting to turn it up especially if this is a year when Cornell's only path to the NCAAs is to make it to Albany and then win both games.

Hands up, everyone who read that as "oh-zhay" the first time.

I'll pray for both, but I'm greedy.
