It would be an even bigger game if we hadn't lost to Harvard, but the 6-1 Yale Bulldogs (who beat 4-1 Penn earlier this year) come to Bartels to face the 5-2 Big Red. A win would put Cornell back in the hunt for the Ivy League title.
Let's Go Red!
1:28 to go. Yale by 1.
Yale misses two free throws with two seconds left to lose.

I meant to say, "Cornell barely avoids finding yet another gut wrenching way to let a game slip away."
I was sure they were going to call the foul on the rebound before time expired. Now they just need to win at the Palestra for the first time since ??? to make the rematch at Yale in two weeks even bigger.

I'm sure the Yale kid's gut is wrenching right now.
Especially nice win the day the New York Times runs a feature on the unlikely rise of Yale basketball. (Can the New York Times as an independent entity be seen as woofing? What about the SI cover jinx?) Whether we can beat Yale at Yale and Penn at Penn remains to be seen. But still, an amazing evening for Cornell to savor (on top of the hockey win over RPI and the wrestlers' 56-0 blanking of Princeton). And the turnout: 3,465 announced attendance.

Basketball always does better when hockey is away. I've always wished they'd schedule more doubleheaders when the teams are both home. Basketball at 4 followed by hockey would probably help the draw at Newman. Of course, the whole winning team helps the draw as well.

It would also get people into Lynah for warmups.
According to today's Ithaca Journal, both of this weekend's basketball games will be televised: Friday vs. Princeton on ESPNU; and Saturday vs. Penn on YES.
Now they just need to win at the Palestra for the first time since ??? to make the rematch at Yale in two weeks even bigger.
Cornell's last win at the Palestra: 65-61 on February 25th, 1989.
Last before that: 75-69 on March 2nd, 1968.
So I guess we're due, anyway.

Or maybe not until 2010.::worry::
