This was an absolutely unbelievable goal scored to tie it for NODAK at the end of the first period. It was ESPN'S top play for yesterday.

In-goal camera for college hockey game. Nice. Wonder when CSTV will have that for Cornell games?

Likely never. I think it involves rebuilding part of the net and it wouldn't be worth the expense for Cornell. Minnesota has every game televised so the investment pays off for them.
Thanks for posting this. One of the guys at my skate told me about it, so I was hoping I would have a chance to see it. Couldn't have happened to a better team. :-)
Granted this was quite a fluke, but I wonder why the goalie was so deep in his net with the puck at the other end of the rink. If he had come out a little to cut off the angle like normal, that shot probably wouldn't have gone in.
IIRC, there was a similar goal scored by the Detroit Red Wings vs. the St. Louis Blues during the playoffs of one of these seasons '96-'98). I think the Red Wing flipped the puck into the Blues zone from his side of the red line, the puck took a bad bounce and got by the Blues goalie (Cujo?). That goal shifted the momentum and the Blues lost the series to Red Wings.
I tried searching for "blues, redwings, playoffs" on google, wikipedia, and this link was the closest thing I could find.

Maybe someone with a better memory (or more time to kill) can help fill in the details.
The Blues site only has a "greatest moments" link, not a "bad playoff moments" one.
Don't worry, I'm sure the Gopher fans will tell us they skated circles around UND.

Well, they pretty much say that in the YouTube comments. ::rolleyes::
Fun to hear a bit of Frank and Doug again, now that I've in a land with no DirecTV.

Who won the game?

ND 7-3. Minny never scored again after that goal, at home no less. ::panic::

Wouldn't ::banana::, or :-}, be more appropriate?

http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20070127&vis=und&home=umn&gender=m[/quote]According to the boxscore, the scorer gave an assist on that goal. I don't care how perfectly tape-to-tape that pass was (and it was a nice wraparound off of the boards behind the goal), giving the guy an assist is ridiculous.

The home team was the Goofers....what else can we expect?
I get so tired of seeing these guys week after week on cable. At least Moog's color comments are more intelligible than his rantings when coach.

From the Ithaca Journal:
QuoteGrainger, who was credited with the assist on Grippin's goal, was just trying to clear the puck on the penalty kill several minutes into the first period. The puck traveled the length of the ice and past Potsdam goalkeeper Jamie Carey, who misplayed the angle, Zarach said.

My sister plays for Potsdam (not in goal). My mother told me about the goal, but I didn't know it was that bad. She talked about the goalie misplaying it, but I didn't realize it was on a shot from the other end of the rink.

C'mon, the weekly Gophers series are staples back home. Growing up without the Northstars, the Gophers were all we had. As for Frank and Doug, they are legends of hockey broadcasting in the Upper Midwest (Sorry, trying not to sound like a full-blown Gopher rube). As for the Frazee goal, it happens...it's also that time of year that NoDak becomes ubeatable (until the Final Five generally).

Through the joys of DirecTV, they're a national sensation!
